Avenue X, you deserve a medal for sitting through 5 episodes. I gave up after the first one. I mostly was curious to see if I could spot where two of the original supporting actors' faces had been replaced. But I just couldn't stomach the awful script. I think those two banished actors may actually be fortunate not to be associated with this mess. I like William Chan and I feel so embarrassed for him. Hai yaaaa!

LOL, my Dear, there's a famous line in my country "As long as you are good-looking, you are safe" So, I think that even though they're switching gender, as long as it is in a drama, played by good-looking people, every supposed to be a "disturbing act" (like stalking) will be turned into a "romantic". Even when in the drama the actor/actress is not good-looking, the handsome/beauty will call the cops I think the writer has never been in a heart-wrenching/dropping situation like a disaster, fire, bomb threat, or else.... until they are stupid enough to write that kind of ridiculous scene. I've been in those kinds of situations, love, is something we will never ever think about.... Since we are too busy to think whether we can get out alive, or die
I almost never watch dramas in which FL falls first because 8 out of 10 times she loses all sense of self-respect or dignity and I just can't. But it's not just about that in this drama. " "are you serious? " "come on script writers get it together".!!!! Well I got so much hate from the other viewers for my comment😅😅😅. Embarrassingly ☺I finished the drama just to watch William Chan and the dogs. But this is how devoid of anything great there is in Chinese Dramaland. Now I am watching slow boring, complete propaganda story "The Youth Memories"(skipping like crazy) only because Xiao Zhan is such a good actor.
First of all, let me start by saying that this is my first time commenting on ur videos and that’s because I have been waiting for this rant since the first day this drama was aired. Kudos to u for watching up to 5 episodes because I could not get past 2episodes and honestly this is my first time I hated a show this much. Very few things made me hate this drama from the beginning and one of which is the girls stupidity and stalking syndrome. I always remove my logical brain when watching cdramas and just watch to enjoy it. This one I could not do that. My logical brain just refused to sit still and let me torment myself with this crap. I love the ml and really wanted to watch this show because of him, but I just could not. The first thing I hated was the fact that they had to make the male lead stay for 10 years without girlfriend or wife so he could end up with the female, like seriously? My question is, what if the male lead was married with kids and having a happy family, so the fl would have come back to ruin his marriage just because she was saved by him and is obsessed with him?. The logic was just not adding up for me and I hate how annoying the female lead is portrayed. That part where she had to go in and take the camera from the car, I literally forwarded it because I just couldn’t stand that scene and that was it for me. The moment she found her way to their base in the na,e of recording their daily life, I knew I could not stand that drama anymore. Am really glad u ranted on this because I was so waiting for this rant and I literately knew u would rant lolz.

Lady X didn't get to the part where a female doctor gave 2nd ML, also a firefighter, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation then he went to her work to pronounce that they were officially together because she "KISSED" him!!!? Some mentioned that most dangerous part of the explosion wasn't the fire but the exploding force and shooting debris. They were surprised that ML and FL weren't knocked to the ground. One comment joked that ML must "exercise" his lower body a lot and thus, he was quite stable down there. As idol cdramas become increasingly ridiculous, I've been waiting for the "GATCHA" moment when a script clearly shows that the main cast behaviors were out-of-bounds and the natural consequences for all involved, without massive reengineering to whitewash or eliminate impact. Not yet.
This drama is certainly worth ranting about. I somehow fast forwarded my way through the 2nd ML(who has had a crush on our FL since childhood), his actress fake girlfriend, and all the inconsistencies, to the last 10 episodes. And guess what, our FL's parents hadn't known that their daughter had been trapped under a building during the quake 10 years ago !!!
Lol. You confirmed what I suspected from watching clips. It sounds like the script was written by a ten year old. Also, the stalkerish behaviour of the female lead reminds me of the FL in Romance of the Little Forrest, which made me stop watching at episode one. I think your rant is more entertaining than the series.
This is a really nice drama. I agree that it has some flaws but still very nice and enjoyable drama. Do watch it and it is worth your time. There is nothing like stalking in this drama, when you love someone you have to give it your all to make that person fall for you. Why only boys can chase their girls, why can’t a girl chase the boy she loves…This drama makes us believe that firefighters also have future. So love and support them without any worry❤

Omg. This is an awesome drama. Why does everything have to be real. Most Chinese dramas have people flying around. Is that real? It had 2 good looking people with great chemistry and a well paced story. And William Chan looks amazing in this.
I mean stuff like that is specifically fantasy and it’s expected to have characters that fly or do magic. This drama is just about firefighters and a journalist so what’s wrong with expecting some things to be realistic when both of those professions and situations are based on real life situations?
This series moves thru the story at a great pace. It isn’t boring at all. There is cliffhangers at the right time. Who cares if people have different accents. It is a modern drama. Why can’t people from different areas of asia work at a fire station. It isn’t a costume drama.
I liked the first few episodes. I think the fact that he came around while she was in the hospital showed kindness. The age difference may cause some viewers to pause.
Wow! Why are the mainlanders so hung up on a single accent as acceptable ? People everywhere who speak a certain language always do have a regional accent. It is the norm. Look at English - so many accents & dialects & it is all well represented in American, British & other world Englishes. Just find it weird to have this hang-up, really. 😏😒
I wished she had explained further about the accent thing. I work in a hospital so it is normal for me to hear accents from different parts of the US. Not only that but from other countries as well. I hope one day she will explain this.
@@Qusland Yes, I get that. British accents do differ from the American. But in this case it is Mandarin spoken in a different region within China itself. Why can't William Chen's accent be acceptable ? He could simply be portrayed as a fire-fighter who hails from Hong Kong, right ? Or the other guy from another part of China ?
Yeah, i don't understand either... Maybe in historical drama it would be distracting, but in modern-day story... who cares? People have different accents, how is this a bad thing?

Rewatch You are my Hero - perfect series with action, suspense, drama and most of all romance - I love Bai Jingting ❤ Then watch the recently ended The Love You Give Me - perfect family with Wang Xiqi/Daddy Xinxi, Wang Yuwen/Mommy MinHui and son Quanquan....I'm having TLYGM withdrawal so I keep rewatching it. I'm tired of the dramas that put a women as the one who takes actions to chase the guy but she is just stalking or harassing the ML!! Years before it was romanticized men kissing girls without consent and things like that, now to do it "modern" they put women doing it!! Doesn't matter your gender, you can't do those things!!!
I get that dubs are necessary in xianxia and also costume dramas but now that i think about it, american dramas have people with different accents and it’s not a big deal…southern, texan, bostonian. why can’t we make it work in Chinese dramaland? people are from different places and therefore have accents.
There is a balance you need to make between having a flair of dialect and being understood. If somebody is talking full on Glaswegian and is unable to modulate that for roles where the Glaswegian isn't a part of the point you wouldn't see them in much English language media because dubbing isn't practised. To further my point look up Nicolas Doesn't Understand The West Country Accent Hot Fuzz. The old men are speaking an actual real English dialect. If you grew up speaking the Mandarin equivalent and you arn't able to totally switch to Standard Mandarin or heavily modulate your original speech it is unfortunately not going to be possible for the viewers to understand what is going on.
The problem is you can’t play someone from Shanghai and speak Mandarin with a Cantonese accent. British actors who play Americans speak with an American accent. You can’t play someone from the Deep South and speak like a New Yorker; the audience won’t believe you are actually from that location.
lol... I knew from the very first time I saw the trailer that this drama was going to be a dud... so I skipped the thought of even watching it. Love to listen to your rants though... I've never disagreed with your outlook on a lot of drama's that I liked or didn't. It was disappointing though considering that William Chan was the ML and I did have high hopes. Yet... I knew this was going to be a drama that wouldn't get off the ground. I wasn't going to just watch it because of William Chan ... there is more to a drama than having a Outstanding Starring Actor like Chan to make a drama fly!!!!!
I loved this drama(A Date With The Future). I learned so many things from this drama. For me this is a kind of healing drama. The part I disliked in drama that the obsessive behaviour of leads otherwise a beautiful drama with good leads specially the chemistry between the main leads.

LOL The earthquake and explosion scenes are actually quite well shot but the logic of each character is disaster, especially the female lead. I thought she got hit in the head during the earthquake and probably suffered from a mental disease. It's so weird for her to say she'll meet him again after 10 years. Like huh??? How can she be so sure that they're gonna meet in 10 years. Like exactly meeting after 10 years like she planned. And she expected him to fall for her despite they re being strangers. Even after hearing him rejecting her or any marriage plan, she was so confident. I can't stand it. I mean she is a journalist.. She's supposed to be critical and at least "smart". A guy not planning to date or to marry any woman? She should at least think he's probably gay though..

William Chan is so good in the Wuxia/Historical dramas like Novoland Pearl Eclipse..... why on earth did he choose this one?! It is painfully creepy to watch him succumb to this stalker, as cute as she is. The whole premise of the story lacks drama, lacks conflict, never keeps us guessing about what happens next- he's a goner from day one. I didn't watch past ep 4 or 5 but that was way too much time, and I don't care about how it ends!!!! Come on, William! You can do better than this!

Both ML and FL lack chemistry. The kisses between them made me cringe and the repetitive unprofessional attitude and behavior of the FL made no sense

As idol cdramas become increasingly ridiculous, I've been waiting for the "GATCHA" moment when a script clearly shows that the main cast behaviors were out-of-bounds and the natural consequences for all involved, without massive reengineering to whitewash or eliminate impact. Not yet.

This drama is certainly worth ranting about. I somehow fast forwarded my way through the 2nd ML(who has had a crush on our FL since childhood), his actress fake girlfriend, and all the inconsistencies, to the last 10 episodes. And guess what, our FL's parents hadn't known that their daughter had been trapped under a building during the quake 10 years ago !!!

Lol. You confirmed what I suspected from watching clips. It sounds like the script was written by a ten year old. Also, the stalkerish behaviour of the female lead reminds me of the FL in Romance of the Little Forrest, which made me stop watching at episode one. I think your rant is more entertaining than the series.

This is a really nice drama. I agree that it has some flaws but still very nice and enjoyable drama. Do watch it and it is worth your time. There is nothing like stalking in this drama, when you love someone you have to give it your all to make that person fall for you. Why only boys can chase their girls, why can’t a girl chase the boy she loves…This drama makes us believe that firefighters also have future. So love and support them without any worry❤

Omg. This is an awesome drama. Why does everything have to be real. Most Chinese dramas have people flying around. Is that real? It had 2 good looking people with great chemistry and a well paced story. And William Chan looks amazing in this.

I mean stuff like that is specifically fantasy and it’s expected to have characters that fly or do magic. This drama is just about firefighters and a journalist so what’s wrong with expecting some things to be realistic when both of those professions and situations are based on real life situations?

This series moves thru the story at a great pace. It isn’t boring at all. There is cliffhangers at the right time. Who cares if people have different accents. It is a modern drama. Why can’t people from different areas of asia work at a fire station. It isn’t a costume drama.

Wow! Why are the mainlanders so hung up on a single accent as acceptable ? People everywhere who speak a certain language always do have a regional accent. It is the norm. Look at English - so many accents & dialects & it is all well represented in American, British & other world Englishes. Just find it weird to have this hang-up, really. 😏😒
Being in the show biz means you need to have the standard accent, someone speaking in a British accent when their character is from America
I wished she had explained further about the accent thing. I work in a hospital so it is normal for me to hear accents from different parts of the US. Not only that but from other countries as well. I hope one day she will explain this.
@@Qusland Yes, I get that. British accents do differ from the American. But in this case it is Mandarin spoken in a different region within China itself. Why can't William Chen's accent be acceptable ? He could simply be portrayed as a fire-fighter who hails from Hong Kong, right ? Or the other guy from another part of China ?
Yeah, i don't understand either... Maybe in historical drama it would be distracting, but in modern-day story... who cares? People have different accents, how is this a bad thing?
@@naleenidas8444because the drama is for general Chinese speaking people, actors with strong accent will make it hard for people to understand/hear, then the drama will not be fun or enjoyable if people have to keep looking at subtitles

Can we talk about the absolute lack of emotions ? How poker face the ML is? The one and only stupid smile's expression the FL has on her face? This drama is an insult to Dramaland. It should be revoked.
I'm tired of the dramas that put a women as the one who takes actions to chase the guy but she is just stalking or harassing the ML!! Years before it was romanticized men kissing girls without consent and things like that, now to do it "modern" they put women doing it!! Doesn't matter your gender, you can't do those things!!!
I get that dubs are necessary in xianxia and also costume dramas but now that i think about it, american dramas have people with different accents and it’s not a big deal…southern, texan, bostonian. why can’t we make it work in Chinese dramaland? people are from different places and therefore have accents.
There is a balance you need to make between having a flair of dialect and being understood. If somebody is talking full on Glaswegian and is unable to modulate that for roles where the Glaswegian isn't a part of the point you wouldn't see them in much English language media because dubbing isn't practised.
To further my point look up Nicolas Doesn't Understand The West Country Accent Hot Fuzz. The old men are speaking an actual real English dialect. If you grew up speaking the Mandarin equivalent and you arn't able to totally switch to Standard Mandarin or heavily modulate your original speech it is unfortunately not going to be possible for the viewers to understand what is going on.
The problem is you can’t play someone from Shanghai and speak Mandarin with a Cantonese accent. British actors who play Americans speak with an American accent. You can’t play someone from the Deep South and speak like a New Yorker; the audience won’t believe you are actually from that location.

It was disappointing though considering that William Chan was the ML and I did have high hopes. Yet... I knew this was going to be a drama that wouldn't get off the ground. I wasn't going to just watch it because of William Chan ... there is more to a drama than having a Outstanding Starring Actor like Chan to make a drama fly!!!!!

I loved this drama(A Date With The Future). I learned so many things from this drama. For me this is a kind of healing drama. The part I disliked in drama that the obsessive behaviour of leads otherwise a beautiful drama with good leads specially the chemistry between the main leads.

The earthquake and explosion scenes are actually quite well shot but the logic of each character is disaster, especially the female lead. I thought she got hit in the head during the earthquake and probably suffered from a mental disease. It's so weird for her to say she'll meet him again after 10 years. Like huh??? How can she be so sure that they're gonna meet in 10 years. Like exactly meeting after 10 years like she planned. And she expected him to fall for her despite they re being strangers.
Even after hearing him rejecting her or any marriage plan, she was so confident. I can't stand it. I mean she is a journalist.. She's supposed to be critical and at least "smart". A guy not planning to date or to marry any woman? She should at least think he's probably gay though..

William Chan is so good in the Wuxia/Historical dramas like Novoland Pearl Eclipse..... why on earth did he choose this one?! It is painfully creepy to watch him succumb to this stalker, as cute as she is. The whole premise of the story lacks drama, lacks conflict, never keeps us guessing about what happens next- he's a goner from day one. I didn't watch past ep 4 or 5 but that was way too much time, and I don't care about how it ends!!!!
Come on, William! You can do better than this!
