In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil narrates the battle of Chillianwala. Which was fought in January 1849 during the Second Anglo-Sikh War. Chillianwala is located in Punjab region of Pakistan Mandi Bahauddin). The battle is considered to be one of the bloodiest fought by the British East India Company eve. Both armies held their positions at the end of the battle and both sides claimed victory. The battle was a strategic check to immediate British ambitions in India and a shock to British military prestige. Battle of Chillianwala was led by Raja Sher Singh Attariwala, the son of Chattar Singh Attariwala, who was Governor of Hazara, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The sequence of events started after siege of Multan in April 1848. Who actually won the war? What was the result of Second Anglo Sikh war? Watch complete episode to know more.

I believe, the presenter of this video just followed the Englishmen reference only. Sikh never surrender to any one in our history. We fight with our enemy until we died. Apne mia mithhu 😂 go and search gorkhas. They took 4 regiments of gorkhas with them in British army, not sikh,rajputs, jat regiment. Btw I'm not Gorkha but I don't feel ashamed to acknowledge bravery of gorkhas.

@@VijaySingh-vn6bt I am a sikh myself, and I can say that Gorkhas were really brave. And even still are respected for their bravery. Even after hundreds of years, here in Punjab people still call Gorkha people who are relatively poor and come work here as "Bahadur" meaning Brave. Read history and you wilo find Maharaja Ranjit Singh himself predicted British rise, so he wrote letter to Gorkha king for a treaty and peace in kangra. But the Gorkha king rejected the treaty at that time. And then after few years upon seeing British at their doorstep he Gorkha king worte letter to Marathas for a treaty and join forces. Marathas said they will help only if Sikhs were also came in support. But then maharaja Ranjit Singh did not accept and these three never joined forces as no one trusted anyone else. Gorkhas and Sikhs were not comfortable if Marathas came to North again with a military. Similarly Marathas and Gorkhas did not trust Sikhs, and even Sikhs and Marathas did not trust Grokhas if they will try to expand West wards or downwards. Result we all know - British occupied everything at last. And no Sikhs do not hate Hindus, who told you that. But yes we are really proud of our forefathers bravery like you are of yours.

When we go through history books I felt Dogra Gulab Singh was right at his point.
Maharaj Ranjit Singh respected Dogras but his sons and sikh fanatics councilors ignored not only Dogra but also muslims and European generals.

Salute to the Sikhs, since they fought the invaders, India was save thereafter otherwise India had been enslaved by foreign invaders.
Major reason of defeat was that majority of soldiers in East Indian army were Brahmin and Rajpoot of Bihar and Awadh. There were only 13% British, rest all Indians. There is a clear divide between West of Yamuna(Jaatland) and East of Yamuna(Brahmin land).
British played one against other and won, when in 1857 Bihari and Awadhi soldiers revolted, British kicked them out and start recruting Jaats(Hindu + Sikh).
Same divide was exploited by Turks, then Mughals, then British and now Indian political parties. We have seen it in recent farmer protest.
