Honestly Mike, with a heard of 150 cows the ranch was controlling you instead of you controlling it. Downsizing it helped you and Erin control it and determined how you can survive with the drought and other expenses. You're doing an excellent job!! Growing slowly, sales of beef and pork by finishing beef all is just great. Excellent business sense especially in these times we're living in.
Erin's answer is spot on. The world is full of judgemental people who think their priorities and preferences should be everyone's priorities and preferences.
This is how ignorant I used to be. When I would venture out of the city (Chicago) and see hay bales, I wasn't sure what they were for. This channel is where I learned that not every farmer is a rancher, but every rancher is a farmer!
Another great video. Loved the ride in tractor and seeing the bigger smile each time you got to unload another bale. Hope you got enough, you don't have to have any shipped in.
Mike, I so enjoy not only the information, but your delivery of it. Your passion for educating people about food production make your content shine. Erin, well said about the animals. People often forget the pure joy of things.
With the money you're saving from bailing this year.. any plans for building or adding anything new to the farm.. thank you again Mike for sharing your amazing life with us ❤️ ♥️
Congratulations on your success so far this year…I really hope your direct to consumer model survives and thrives!!! I really support and encourage your lovely family!
Hi Mike Erin & Kids,it was so nice seeing those bales roll out.I think the kids gave great answers to their question.I think you all did a great job answering the questions.I so enjoy seeing the different animals.Take care & have a great week! 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Thank y’all for answering my question. I love being able to actually feel like a part of the ranch with y’all. I hope y’all get the hay harvest you’re hoping for. keep doing what you’re doing and you’re going to go far
It did my heart good to see that big smile every time you popped out another bale. Considering you have hay at all after several years of drought and no fertilization, you have a heck of a good crop there! You and Erin are blessed with the smarts to change and adapt with the times and continue to improve your model. You can only succeed with a can-do attitude, even when mistakes are made. God bless you guys with a letter rain, so even if you don't get a second cut, you will have good fall ground cover and forage.
Great video, Mike. The kids are precious!!! Growing up as a farm boy myself, we develop a real love for animals, large and small. I love how all three kids want to help animals as a career.
Great job Mike and Jeff. Good to see that u both can do this on ur own. What a Great thing. The kiddos seem to be set on what they choose to do when they grow up. All of their choices, if they do not change is some similarities of the Ranch Life. Either way, I think they will all be Parallel in their choices as they get older and older. Thank u for sharing, keep it up.
You never know what children want to do when they grow up. A cousin on my father’s side of the family, went into military, served in Vietnam, worked at the post office, and did construction work. He eventually went back to the family ranch and stayed there until he retired. A cousin on my mother’s side of the family took over the family ranch after his father died. He stayed there until he retired. His son has his own ranch.
Your children are little darlings - may their dreams come true. Oh, to be a kid again...........hope they are enjoying their summer! I'd love to see how Erin's gardens are turning out, especially the new one in the deer-proof area. Sending prayers your way for continued success with your baling! Its really looking terrific!
I grew up in a ranching community in Colorado but my family lived in town and I never knew the in's and out's of daily life, raising cattle and hay. I was just a little kid and no one ever explained it to me. I am so blessed to hear from a real rancher, how things work on a ranch. Thank you, thank you, Rancher Mike!
I love, love, love, watching your smile, every time your machine spit out another bale. It makes MY heart sing, as I know you are saving a considerable amount of money. The Q and A session is always interesting....Your spunky little woman, "Cause we can"..............Ya truly gotta love that girl! Thanks for bringing us along on the hay ride.....Lots of fun! Bev in Maine
Mike frankly I am extremely impressed by what you have been able to harvest from a "wild" field. If I understood this has not been "farmed" it hasn't been fertilized or watered other than by nature. You didn't seed it or tend it. I "farmed" hay fields and there were years even with all the expense of doing all the things that the harvest was slim. That is all just part of it. Erin I agree with you, there are some things we do that just feed our hearts and souls and don't appear to others to be a normal part of the whole picture, they just make us smile!
Mike & Erin your doing just fine. Keep it up! Will keep watching! Can't wait to see what's next. Hope to visit again and see the green hills. Keep Smilin!!
Linda Gayle and I are elated at how things are going for you guys! You are a charming family and the epitome of "the salt of the earth." Keep on keeping on and good fortune to you!
Mike, Great to see that weather gods have allowed you to get out and start the baling process. The bales look good as they come out of the bale machine. Nice Q&A today too. Always nice to hear what others are thinking and to hear how you answer their questions. Stay safe and keep the videos coming. Blessings my friend.
Mike, Erin, enjoyed the video today. Some great questions. Loved that Grace and MacKenzie both talked about ranch and animal related jobs. Know your so proud. God Bless
The goats will clear out all the weeds around the ranch buildings if given a chance! Last fall you put the goats in the garden after it was done producing & they cleared out a bunch of the leftovers!! I enjoy you videos immensely! They are very informative! Thank you👍🏻
As a Paramedic some years ago, I read report after report of injuries due to farm accidents. Most reports delt with spinning farm machinery v. Farmer and the Farmer lost a limb or worse. Please be careful whenever you touch any engaged machinery!
Your baler does make a nice pretty bale. We have a Moco that we use for our hay but we would love to have a swather. With a Moco you have to keep one eye behind you to watch what is going on, you don't have that problem with a swather, and you can go faster with a swather.
I love this channel. Very educational. And Erin & Mike it’s nobody’s business what you spend your money for. Keep up the message…farmers feed the nation!
Good episode Mike and Erin. We also have additional animals on the ranch that enrich our life’s and make it all more enjoyable. Thank God for the hay this year for y’all.
Thank you for taking the time to explain what you are doing. It is fantastic how you and Erin have been able to downsize and start a new business plan. I am sure that it is very enjoyable for your visitors to see how the ranch is run and to enjoy your wonderful farm animals. Well done to all of you. Your kids are fantastic as you already know.
I am glad that Erin answered her question so honestly because it really blows my mind how people make judgments on decisions that you make regarding your business and your lives. I realize some of that is just being on TH-cam and I guess you have to tolerate a certain amount of it. But it just amazes me how many people think they know better than anyone else how other people should do things.
Great Q and A. You answered my question, I was wondering how your bailer worked. Now I know. You and your family are doing a good thing educating about ranch life. Thanks.
@Our Wyoming Life you might want to think about getting that attachment for bailer at some point. Where it’ll hold 2 bales one on the left and right and then you spit out the third and drop three bales in a row. That way you save on gas picking up bales, since you hay decent sized fields. Looking forward to your final number.
I haven’t seen you since last week I was worried that something happened I really care about your ranch Mike you guys Tommy so much thank you and I’m saving up now Buy some beef jerky from you thank you so much you guys
The drone footage at 10:00.... I saw that and the theme song from the tv show Dallas came to mind. Maybe it's the part where they show the combine. Loved that intro!
My husband and I were in your ranch a short while ago, too bad we missed you, Erin said you were out bale hay. We did enjoy seeing the goats, the chickens , and the geese😊. We are staying in Jillette tonight. We came this way just to see your ranch and missed seeing the cows☹️.
far more than i got to see. didnt even get to meet Erin, let alone Jeff or Mike. didnt know theyd let anyone see the animals. figured id be imposing to ask. went there for meat and found out they were booked into 2023 or something. couldnt wait that long so we had to order it from Koehlers. $1000 worth. beef and half a hog. picked it up a couple days later.
Sorry to hear that ! We didn’t get to see any one else either. We drove up to the ranch and went around to the vegetable garden and got to see Erin working to take out the weeds, along with two ladies. We wanted to get some beef jerky but the farm store is closed and we are in the area only for one day. So may be next time better luck with you and with me😊.Joanne
Extremely dangerous working on a baler with the tractor running. Saw a guy lose an arm when the baler kicked in and mangled his arm. I always make sure everything is powered down before working around any moving parts. Glad to see you are saving a bundle on hay this year by cutting your own.
Love the channel my parents bought the 80 acres farm in 1960 we had some sheep and some hogs and ended up with 20 head of brood cows Angus started with Angus bull because of all new heifer's second bull was Hereford farm was 20 mi west of Ann arbor Michigan dad past away in 1980 30 days before his 50th birthday I truly miss the farm and mom sold the farm to developers 😕 I'm 70 now and help my friend Carl Bale hay and fix things that get broken ,🤔waiting on second cutting 😃

The grass gods have spoken congratulations Mike I e been following for 4 years I'm so happy for you and family you finally have hay 💯💯

You and me both Richard! Thanks and will take all the luck we can get!
Thank you for showing everyone what it is like to be a farmer. You guys are the best
Glad we can share and thanks for watching.
@@OurWyomingLife you are so welcome but really thank you for sharing
This is how ignorant I used to be. When I would venture out of the city (Chicago) and see hay bales, I wasn't sure what they were for. This channel is where I learned that not every farmer is a rancher, but every rancher is a farmer!
Hello Judie how are you doing today
God blessed you guys when he sent Jeff.
I can see Lincoln being a little mike when he grows up
Another great video. Loved the ride in tractor and seeing the bigger smile each time you got to unload another bale.
Hope you got enough, you don't have to have any shipped in.
Thats my hope also Barbara. Thanks for watching.
Everyone needs a friend like Jeff. God bless!
Mike, I really enjoy your channel. I was raised on a farm it's a good life.
"Because I can." Absolutely the best answer! It's called FREEDOM!!! You guys ROCK!
EXACTLY Erin !
Why do I have a room full of card making supplies? Because I can !
Mike, I so enjoy not only the information, but your delivery of it. Your passion for educating people about food production make your content shine. Erin, well said about the animals. People often forget the pure joy of things.
This was a great idea. To answer questions. It gives us all a look at the farm life behind the scenes. Great answer.
Thanks Scott
My son-in-law in Oklahoma said that they were thinking of banning those round bales. . . . it seems that the cows couldn't get a square meal. 🤣
LOL RD, good one
Eren you did good 👍
Thanks for taking the time to take us along for haying. Great answer Erin. It sounds like the petting zoo is a great addition.
I'm glad you took the rock with you... they breed if you just let them go... :)
With the money you're saving from bailing this year.. any plans for building or adding anything new to the farm.. thank you again Mike for sharing your amazing life with us ❤️ ♥️
We have been doing alot of work around the ranch this year. So as far as new purchases? At the moment? Id say no, but tomorrow is another day! LOL
Erin, that answer was perfect. "Cause I Can". That's it, that's all.
Congratulations on your success so far this year…I really hope your direct to consumer model survives and thrives!!! I really support and encourage your lovely family!
Farmer Tyler Ranch, quit his day job, and following a similar direct to consumer model. I am pleased 4 all of them
Thanks Big T.
Mike all I can say is that I'm really impressed. Fingers and toes crossed for the appropriate weather and all things good.
Thank you very much Margaret.
Glad to see you use a tool to get that rock out . My cousin died trying to clear a haybinne ..
It’s a beautiful thing to see all those bales popping out.
I agree! Love kicking those bales out!
I hope you all get the rain for more hay and it helps all the ranchers and farmers in cattle and crops business

In real time I don't know how often you are getting beeped at but what a wonderful sound. Every time it beeped I was cheering. for the ranch.
Funny, I was thinking a similar thought too. When it beeps its saving the ranch money!
I love that our meat comes directly from your ranch!! Erin’s response ti her question was great!!!!
Awesome sound, "hold on guys, we're getting ready to make another bale" SO great to watch this video.
Hi to Our Wyoming Life and all others too. I hope everyone is doing great
Hello Wykeisha. Doing pretty good today hope your doing the same.
I like how you leave a few inches of hay on the ground.
Our wyoming life I like all of your tractors but I like the big farm tractor to it's got those huge tires on it thanks for sharing

Glad things are working out with the hay and thankful y'all are teaching where our food comes from!
God Bless you Mike and your family and farm!
God willing you can bail again this year. Good answer Erin I loved it. People worry to much about what everyone else is doing or buying.

Thanks Rebekah

The drone footage at 10:00.... I saw that and the theme song from the tv show Dallas came to mind. Maybe it's the part where they show the combine. Loved that intro!
I keep watching the weather radar in your area, hoping you can get it all picked up before anything severe rolls through.... HURRY !!!!!
Once again great joy for your wonderful family and having HAY.
Erin mentioned something about seeding alfalfa. Comments?
My husband and I were in your ranch a short while ago, too bad we missed you, Erin said you were out bale hay. We did enjoy seeing the goats, the chickens , and the geese😊.

What a grear video..I absolutely loved Erin's answer about the animals. She nailed it. Thanks for such a informative video. ❤🙏
Loved that answer !

Great q&a so happy to see you making your own feed
Sonne farm's in SD has a baller that carries 3 rolls at a time, but they have the acres and grass for such a baller
SD has some ballin' ass farmers. Three blunts at a time
Mike, I hope one day to travel out to that part of our country and stay over at your ranch and meet y’all. I enjoy your videos! Keep it up!
I enjoy the question videos. It's different and the questions were good and interesting.
Glad you like them!
