    as a Louisianaian this is so funny to watch and listen to them try and say the parish names is a delight to hear😅😅😅 I live less than an hour away from the Hanging Jail and it's also a haunted house during Halloween!! I've also visited most of these places. Louisiana is a haunted place. 🥰🥰

    Born and raised in Louisiana and I’ve been to all of these places…. Still livin my best life! I’ve stayed in Laurie mansion and my new iPhone crashed with all my pictures and videos erased of the strange things that happen. I’ve put XXX’s on the grave and they shut down access to St. Louis cemetery to the public the next day… I live in the swamps and I can honestly say I see unexplainable things constantly! Cars that disappear right in front of you… trails of lights seen through the trees when no one else is suppose to be around…. The craziest thing I experience is when I was able to talk to a spirit in an abandoned bar. Still gives me goosebumps

      In 1974 my mom, uncle and a hitchhiker named Blondie saw bigfoot on the state line Louisiana to texas. One year before she and my dad witnessed the 1973 pascagoula abduction. She never even thought about how strange the locations and timing were to each other till 2020 when I started asking more questions. I was just so use to her telling me about those two encounters growing up. Me and my sister would make fun of her and she would get so mad.

    Born, raised, and still live in New Orleans for 35 years. I appreciate y'all for making this video. Not making fun, just teaching, but it's New Orleans(Or-Lens) not (Or-Leans). Lafitte isn't pronounced (La-Fight) lol it's (La-Feet). Shreveport is (Sh-Reeve-Port), Calcasieu is (Cal-Ka-Shoe). Then of course we have Michoud, Atchafalaya, Pontchartrain, Tchoupitoulas, Opelousas, etc... Only negative thing about the video is not mentioning The Myrtles Plantation. It's probably the most haunted place in Louisiana, and very well known. And, The Bourbon Orleans is a well known haunted hotel in the French Quarter. If y'all ever make another Louisiana video, I'll gladly help.

    For those of you who were wondering, the practice of "burying" Above Ground is because of Louisiana's
    high water table. Burial Vaults sit above ground because when you dig the ground more than a foot or so,
    the excavation starts filling with water. This does not happen everywhere in the state, but once the practice
    started, it was carried on as a Tradition. Also, hurricanes that have flooded the state also made sealed coffins
    that were buried float up to the surface and drift around in the flood-waters, frightening survivors and starting
    legends of ghosts.

    • @creekdweller9662
      @creekdweller9662 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, caskets are sealed, thus any air or gases that are contained in the sealed inclosure will float. During Katrina, hundred of caskets had to be rounded up, mostly by concerned citizens, and when possible, returned to the rightful origin of rest.

  • @creekdweller9662
    @creekdweller9662 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Pea Farm was exactly that. The prisoners worked in the fields and grew Purple Hull peas. Thus feeding themselves on what they grew, and selling any extra produce, and the money derived from the sale of surplus peas went into the budget of the prison lessening the burden of the taxpayers for the operation of the prison. Today the prison sits on private property, abandoned and no trespassing signage surrounds the perimeter. I know where it is but with the danger of snakes, spiders and poison Ivy, you would have to be stupid to venture onto the grounds.

    1st of all, I find this to be more than 10 stories; more like 50; & why all of the repeat stories? 2nd. Those names: Calcasieu,Manchac, Shreveport, Dauphine, just did it for me. This happens every time. People who try to say words from Louisiana need to come live in Louisiana so they can be to better. Louisiana stories need to only be told by Louisianians. 3rd. But the 1 story that was never mentioned was Myrtle Plantation (about the little black girl who haunts the home), 1 of the most famous of them all. 4th. I’ve heard a different story about the rougarou. Know the facts before trying to tell stories for fame & fortune.

    People need to stop putting out bad low about Marie Laveau. The fact that she just made her out to be some evil person and put curses on people is ridiculous. You’ll get more of a curse on you for putting out blasphemy on her name before a person walking to the cemetery and get a curse.

    #9 @ 23:21, The La Feu Follet of Louisiana have many extended family members in folklore around the globe. The Will-O'-The Wisp's (Ignis Fatuus s. or Ignis Fatui pl., is Latin and translated means to Foolish Flame). The Wisp's and variants have been recorded in the folklore of Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Appalachia, and Newfoundland. It is called the St. Louis Light in Saskatchewan, the Spooklight in Southwestern Missouri and Northeastern Oklahoma and the Marfa Lights of Texas. German name is Irrlicht ('wandering light' or 'deceiving light)'. In German folklore they are known as mischievous spirits of nature. Folklore has fascinated me since was a little girl.
    This was really cool! ❤
