By very far the best car I have ever owned. Excellent performance, superb 4x4, very comfortable, spacious rear seating space and huge load area(boot). Now at over 200,000kms at the clock and still going very very strong. I love it on long trips with the body hugging seats. The Honda CRV RD5/RD7, a cross over like no other!! Sadly, they don't buid them this way any more, that's why I'm NOT selling mine whatsoever.
@@JohnsAmerica Nope. The days of simplicity is gone. Most modern base models cars are keyless, capless fuel, equipped with unnecessary lane departure, stupid auto-engine stop, e-brake instead of handbreak. Most of them don't even offer stick shift.

It does have problems but considering that it has that amount and some problems but they are usually small problems. This video is one of the reasons why I brought the CRV, wish I had commented on it years ago. I was shy. My 06 is still going strong at 128K. I purchased it a 77k before the joke of a high car prices. Needs a few things fixed on it (Not in a accident. just a couple things need fixing.) I enjoy the car to this day! I am still OCD when salt gets on it. Anyone looking for a good car get this one. Don't do extreme off road with it (I haven't done anything besides dirt). I miss the swing out door the first generation had that too. Most (Not all) crossovers nowadays are plain and all look the same with no personality. I am aware its easier to have swing up tailgate, but the swing out to me is what made it a CRV. I can say I am happy with the car. Want to get more Hondas in the future.
Great review of an SE model (paint matched bumpers/heated leather seats/sunroof/AWD). These "facelift" models (2005/2006) are outstanding, and with the 5spd automatic, are only turning 2,500rpm at 80mph. The facelift cars received all of the modern safety updates: vehicle stability control, seat airbags, side curtain airbags, and A-pillar airbags. The late 2005 through all 2006 models also received an updated rear differential, so the AWD system works better. Wonderful cars, and even now in 2024, they still have a huge following, and are fantastic "used" cars. I've been recommending them for years to friends and co-workers, and finally took my own advice and purchased an '05 with 5spd manual trans, with 271K on it, a year ago. Absolutely love the silly thing.
Lately, I have been leaning towards a used Toyota RAV4. They have timing chains instead of timing belts. They also have a more robust automatic transmission than with the Hondas.
The swing out tailgate is great for cyclists too. If you love this car for its simplicity and sport utility please sign my letter to car manufacturers to bring this vehicle back to the market. chng.it/Hzsxyd9rRf

I love This early Model Of The CRV, I Wish Honda Would Seriously Consider Keeping The Old Built But Updating The Ability Of The CRV But Keeping The Old Version.
I wish they'd focus more on the things that really matter like the reliability of earlier engines rather than push for turbos only to have oil consumption issues later. CVTs take the fun out of driving.

Yeah really dependable engine meanwhile even though it’s a timing chain Honda strongly recommends that you change the timing chain and the timing chain tensioner’s along with the water pump while you’re at it at 130,000 miles because of the timing chain stretches it causes catastrophic failure I have seen several of these vehicles in my shop with that exact problem just because people think it’s got a timing chain means no maintenance which is bullshit

there is no 6 speed manual unless you’re in a different country. in america there’s only 5 speed manual and 5 speed auto in 2005 and 2006. Even if the 5 speed auto does a great job utilizing this vehicles power.
the late models had a six speed manual. These never had the six speed in america. I have the 4 speed auto with overdrive on my '04 and it shifts very smooth; I have the 5 speed manual on my '05 accord however.
