  • One of the most beloved shrines in Japan is the Inari Shrine, commonly known as "O-Inari-san," with approximately 30,000 shrines across the country. Its head shrine, Fushimi Inari Taisha, is located in Kyoto and has been a site of worship for over 1,300 years since its establishment in 711 AD. Revered as a deity of good harvests, prosperous business, family safety, and wish fulfillment, it has become a popular destination for foreign tourists in recent years. According to the "Yamashiro no Kuni Fudoki," the origin of Fushimi Inari Taisha lies in a miraculous event where a rice cake shot by Hata-no-Irogu transformed into a white bird, which then landed on a mountain where rice began to grow. Additionally, it is said that the Hata clan enshrined three deities on the mountain in 711 AD, bringing about a bountiful harvest. The origins of the faith likely date back even further, indicating a deep connection between the Hata clan and the Fushimi area.
