What makes Toto different is that they don't play the same studio version over and over. There is always a rendition, and I admire Toto for that distinction and creativity.
Since Hold the Line was released in 1978, it’s now 42 years listening Toto.

The tone of Steve's guitar and the chord progression during the last solo are magnificent. This version along with the live in Paris 1990 version are my favorites out there.

Most of the tone lies in his fingers. Watch his tutorial videos where he talks about muting methods and techniques such as vibratos, especially their placement and execution. The man is an absolute genius and was the real reason why many 80's bands had amazing guitar solos as he has played the solos for many bands anonymously!

must be in the list of greatest live solos of all time man.... thats right up there with prince soloing over while my guitar gently weeps and gilmours comfortably numb solo. the way he plays through the chord changes in the end and the vibrato with his classic rock tone is just amazing. im exploding everytime i hear this, especially if i don't watch the video and just close my eyes. damn it he's great and toto is too of course! wish this video was more popular among guitarists and music fans of all kind!

I'll Be Over You is my favorite song by Toto and it could very well be their best song. I know the lyrics by heart and this song is very dear to me. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.
