- Michael Jackson lived a reality that very few have ever come to experience. Not many could relate to him and his world of superfame that he had inhibited since he was a child.
In this video, the King of Pop speaks candidly about the dark realities of being so recogniseable around the world and how it entrapped him in a cage that often made him feel desperately alone and isolated from those around him.

I love how they closed the store and simulated a real shopping environment just for him…such a genuine soul
Very! He just wanted to be doing things us everyday people do.
The thing that saddens me is how self-aware Michael is of his situation: he knows he’s different, but being different is all he knows.
That just broke my heart🥺😭💔
But at the same time, he also says that he is no different than me or you. And that's also true.
I can see why he had such a connection to children, it’s because they’re the only ones that made him feel like a human being. They’re the only sense of reality he had outside of fame. So, so very sad! RIP
Yea sure, that's why he loved other peoples little childen
They were the only ones that he could trust wouldn't use him, especially for his money.

Yes, it's so obvious! And so understandable. I would hang out with kids all the time if they were the only ones who didn't want to rip me off each second. Plus, the poor man didn't have a childhood, so it's so clear and simple... And so gut wrenching-ly sad... I love him so much.
"i used to walk the streets, to look for people to talk to" is what broke me.
I can't handle that part
Believe me it was a lot easier said than done..ever since MJ was 11 yrs old he has always been protected and secure with bodyguard and security..he was a huge superstar he wasn't and isn't just ANYONE..the times he was talking about was around OFF THE 🧱 time .no way he was going to just befriend anyone they would kidnap him or cause harm.

Say what you want about Michael but one thing you can't say is that this man was not very WISE. Amazing perspective, deep understanding, and gems of wisdom. He speaks so eloquently with great storytelling and one can really understand easily what he is trying to convey with his words. He deserved so much better. He is an icon and a great influence to look up to.

Too up himself like all those celebrities.. but lovers of money...not GOD....MEEK INHERIT THE THE EARTH
Couldn't of put it better myself Michael Jackson will always be a legend the best
I read his book, & in his words when it even came to dating:
“Sometimes it's hard for me to look my dates in the eye even if I know them well. My dating and relationships with girls have not had the happy ending I've been looking for. Something always seems to get in the way. The things I share with millions of people aren't the sort of things you share with one. Many girls want to know what makes me tick - why I live the way I live or do the things I do - trying to get inside my head. _They want to rescue me from loneliness, but they do it in such a way that they give me the impression they want to share my loneliness, which I wouldn't wish on anybody, because I believe I'm one of the loneliest people in the world.”_
incredibly unjust and sad for the light this world lost in with and for Him

MJ was honestly a genuinely a very sweet, humble, kind, caring, sensitive, sentimental, giving Man. I just don’t understand why anyone would want to hurt such a beautiful soul like MJ ??? !!! He didn’t deserve any of it ! He was too good for this Fallen World! 💔😔
Evil is always present like a crouching lion when you are being a good person. Michael went through hell since a young age and he held up as much as he could. Michael you are truly missed. I was so happy when you grace this Earth. Stranger in Moscow spoke volumes with the video. I have tears everytime l see it. Man l just wish l could have been your friend.:(
@@ohh338 My name is not Michael.

Amen.
What you named is probably why 😔 He was an easy target for a lot of people…
This video makes me very sad. I hate to think that Michael was lonely even for a second. It breaks my heart. He deserved so much better in life. How can there be so many millions of people around the world who loved Michael, yet so few in his life who genuinely friended him. He gave so much, but because of his popularity and how people would react to him, he couldn't enjoy everyday things we take for granted. He was the victim of so many attacks against his character & integrity, however I have never seen even an instant where he didn't act with kindness, humility, and appreciation. He is truly a remarkable human being.
So true and so well said..as I put a reply in another comment..So true..but also true,God would always take care of him,no matter how painful life was.notice how all good people/true shining lights have hard lives in this world?he was one.God bless him..he did so well..his message of love continues and always will.just because some couldn't understand him while alive..as time goes on,people will understand the beauty and love more and more ❤
Because they don't know him personally. The word fan comes from the word fanatic.
Granted, it's sad that he was lonely, but he DID have friends in the industry. Brook, Lisa Marie, That kid from Home Alone, other stars like himself, He was friends with Princess Diana, an equally lonely soul. This video is exploring the sad side and ignoring the other side of his life. I've lived this kind of life myself.. not fame or fortune, but loneliness vs popularity. I do HEAR him and empathise, but for me, I had to turn that hour glass upside down and start looking at what I did have, not what I didn't.
The world wasnot kind to Michael & he said it best, the bigger the star the bigger the target. When you are climbing that ladder or moutain, everyone is cheering you on and rooting for you but the minute you reach the very top, they want to see you fall or jump. This is how society is. They love you and they hate you but when you die, they love you again..
Sad reality we live in

I hate how all the interviewers give him zero respect whatsoever. Michael went through one of the worst lives ever, and he was still the most humble, kindest, innocent, honest, and genuine down to earth human to have ever lived. Michael Jackson deserves the utmost respect. He was a very sensitive intelligent person and being such a global artist with a unique talent he certainly had to face the good and the bad side of the world . He certainly became the target of greedy people , of jealousy in music business and of mean tabloids in spite of his great humanitarian heart and generosity . As he often said: good news don t sell, tabloids want bad news and they even

I always feel some pain when watching Michael's performances, even as a child. In this video he shows again his very wise side of his complex but totally understandable and comprehensable personalitity which is always very consistent in all what he says and does. Even his dance-patterns/manners reveals his real personality as somewhere a warrior against a lot of injustice. He becamed the victim of this most terrible injustice. Rest in Peace, Michael. And see you, one day, in Heaven.
I got a sense of this a lot through his music. When you have that level of fame and attention, it’s hard to find people to relate to that aren’t in awe of you and your talent.

I believe it gets complicated then, to find proper inspiration to write music that will resonate with most people if the songwriter isn't allowed to be part of most people.
"I used to walk the streets looking for people to talk to i was so lonely". That rips my heart out.
@@davidgrace4054 I know right? And what makes his status even more heartbreaking is that he wanted a friend to love him for HIM not that global superstar Michael Jackson 💔
It is really cute, what his friend did for him, with the shopping mall. I nearly teared up, watching him have his fun. 😅❤️He is such a child at heart, riding the cart.
I'm now 67 years old/young. I remember the 1st time I heard " I Want You Back " on the radio. I fell in love instantly with The Jackson 5, at the
time, it wasn't about Michael Jackson, but the entire group and their style and sound. Of course as they grew older the rumors started about Michael. I know that he was a child star, growing up in the spot light. He had no privacy, I can't imagine that. Everyone needs some alone time, personal time to reflect, and...
But Michael was put in front. They were introduced as "Michael Jackson and Jackson Five", Michael made the front page of the "Rolling Stone" mag at 12, without his brothers, and when Jermaine and Michael released their solo tracks, Michael's tracks charted better, so Michael was definately not in the same position of his brothers, even when he 's with the Jackson 5

Michael really seemed to mean it when saying that he was no different or better than anyone else. He knew he had talent and it was wonderful to see and hear, but he was another person in the world. I admire his humility.
No one and I mean no one will be able to understand what this man had to deal with. What his life was like. The world killed this kind man. Can you imagine from the age of 5 to 50 what this man's life was like? My brain can't comprehend it. Such a humble, gentle soul with talent like we have never seen. All he did was give and the world took from him piece by piece until he was broken and there was nothing left. He was a product and not a human being in people's eyes. Michael - we miss you, thank you and love you. Rest in peace.

Not everyone can take the fame pill and survive in show biz. You have to have a humble mindset, a trusted inner circle, and the will power to remain grounded. I’ve had that same thought about therapy. I really think If he came up in the world today the media would’ve treated him differently. Albeit still probably pretty rough, plus having the ability to read comments from all over the world which Michael may not deal with well. But I have hope that the development of the mental health field nowadays would’ve supported him much better, maybe someone would be more likely to recommend therapy nowadays, plus more education available online about medications so he could know what that doctor was giving him… RIP
If he did therapy, he’ll be taken advantage of by the therapist. With the amount of fame like that it’s impossible to do therapy.

Michael Jackson is hands down one of the strongest, most courageous people who ever lived. He suffered so horrifically and was persecuted on so many levels. I wish there were strict rules in place for the paparazzi and even the fans. I feel horrible watching this. Any time I see a celebrity, and it’s never been MJ, I pretend I have not seen them. They are human beings with the same rights as everyone else. We need laws, stringent laws. They did the same thing to Princess Diana and Britney Spears. How can anyone survive that?!? It’s enough to drive a perfectly normal person to rage, severe depression, anxiety, and deep, deep loneliness. Very wrong.

For real. The man couldn’t go anywhere or do anything like a normal person. Why WOULDN’T he build entertainment at his own house??? That’s the only way he could go outside and have some “normal” fun. He had to build his own little world because he couldn’t go out in the world like the rest of us.
I'd build whatever the fuck I want on my property, under all legal protocol & zones to do so.

Beautiful man, beautiful humanity, thankful and humble
Becoming a nobody, an anonymous person, is actually a gift. I used to be known in my old town, and online. Then, certain circumstances required me to hide, become anonymous and move city. I haven't had social media in almost 10 years, and I have never felt so free. To exist amongst people, and not be recognized, to have that privacy, is truly priceless. I feel so sorry for Michael, that he never got to experience that true peace of mind. If only they could set up a life for him where he got to experience an anonymous and silent existence for a day or two a week, somewhere in the world where he isn't known. Or, give him heavy prosthetics so he could wander around town, unrecognized. The grocery store was a great idea, it could have been done more often, and perhaps pay real customers who enter to not speak to or look at him while he is there. That would have made this burden a little lighter for him maybe. The poor man never knew what it is like to be human. He was an insanely gifted man with so much trauma, but his fame was his real curse.
Tina Turner went to Europe, she said got treated better over there.

My MJ Encounter: On November 19, 1996, I was 16 years old, and a fan of MJ since BAD 1987. That day my brother and I decided to skip school and travel by train to Brisbane, (Australia) to see Michael arrive at his hotel, The Heritage (now known as the Stamford). MJ was in Australia as part of the world tour for HIStory. So we got on the school bus in our normal clothes, and everyone was in uniform wondering what was going on. 'We're not going to school' we said, 'we're going to see Michael Jackson!' I'm sure they were jealous! So we arrived in Brisbane after an hour plus train ride and made our way to the Heritage. Fans were already amassing outside the gates of the hotel. Mainly young women with signs, singing his songs. The tour was big news and camera crews were there (MJ had married Debbie Rowe in Sydney only days earlier, which was world-wide-news). Now this is all before the internet, so we fans had to glean from the newspaper or tv when MJ would be arriving. It was around 11 or so in the morning when he was expected to be there. He was flying up from Sydney (a storm the previous evening had led MJ to cancel his flight). Now the fans were ten or so deep against the fence, and I knew that if I stood there with everyone else, I wouldn't be able to see much. But I thought to myself: "MJ's car is going to have to come in from here, so if I actually stand back, I'll be able to run to the car before anyone else". And sure enough, I was right! I could see down the street a police escort, and a red Toyota Tarago van, which I knew MJ was in. As the car pulled up, I immediately ran to the van and started banging on the window! For before me sat Michael Jackson: Black Fedora Cap; Aviator sunglasses; a red shirt, black curly hair over his face, and a big smile on his lips. I guess he liked me making so much noise banging on the window! For me, it was like time slowed right down, and I had this moment of insight: Michael Jackson is just a human being. And he has suffered so much. I felt for him and the Chandler allegations he had gone through, and I was happy that he had been through the fire and come out the other side. And that he was smiling again! At that moment a security guard appeared and pushed me back away from the car, the gates swung open, the crowd surged, and the car went into the hotel. That night I saw myself, from various angles, on the news ; the footage of my MJ encounter preserved for all time. Two days later I saw MJ in concert: a dream come true. But as great as the concert was, I'll never forget when I was up close with MJ.I'm glad that God gave me that moment, and I'm glad that in MJ's life, which included so much pain, I brought a smile to his face.
What a story!
WoW that is so Awesome thanks for sharing to me and the rest of the world your experiences including your dedication to see Micheal Jackson and then having that grateful opportunity to actually meet him and causing him to smiling with a very huge smile!!!
That's amazing. I was born in 1996 and I didn't know there was an Mj concert in Brisbane where I currently live
Tbh I don't think I listened to MJ music where I was growing up. I started listening only a couple years back and I love his songs
Michael was very popular, from childhood to adulthood, and a beautiful human being inside and out, I don't blame him for disquising himself, the crowd gets too wild, it's a good thing, and can be dangerous too. ❤😊.
We love the fact that Michael put out Music that we love,But we was miss the gem he put out from his young career all the way up to his adult years.
Too genuine for this world.
He was such a gentle and sensitive soul, loneliness must feel extremely unbearable to him💔❤️🩹
I truly wonder how Mike felt deep inside about having vitiligo. Imagine already having a very unnormal life, people already seeing you as different or weird. Then bam, you’re diagnosed with the rarest disease at the time and the world witnessing for the first time ever someone completely change their skin color. It had to be a moment of “you’ve got to be kidding me” at some point in mikes mind. I wonder how he was able to switch his mindset towards “use it as power” I hope the movie covers this extensively. He had so many deeply painful eras and had to push through. He never had a chance to just feel normal. I think that’s why his children were so important in his life. They probably gave him the normalcy he truly needed.
Same, that and dealing with the burn on his scalp and resulting hair loss. I can only imagine those things had a humongous impact on his mental health. Just when he was on top of the world his looks changed and there was only so much he could do to hide or cover those changes physically. I can't even begin to imagine the magnitude of his mental pain, it's heartbreaking to think about.
Despite everything, even though he was mentally shaken in various moments of his life, by illnesses, judgments, accusations, lack of privacy, and relationship problems, I still think he was strong, because someone else in his place could have quickly given up on life. But he himself said he was a strong person, with thick skin to withstand problems, and in his songs, he would say: 'Don't let anyone hurt you or put you down, don't stop, keep moving forward, have faith... I believe in myself, so you believe in you.'
This made me really sad 😔 I feel so sorry for him 😢 Rest in peace 🙏 king 🤴
He did changed the game in pop culture for example the post- Beatles can still go places and do simple things but Mike couldn't even go to a bodega or supermarket to shop. His price of fame was way bigger than Elvis and The Beatles so, let his legacy continue in a positive light. RIP Michael Jackson
Absolutely right and was way too much

Right it's comical that people act like they were bigger than Mike they were not
Even in his late 40s he couldn't go anywhere without thousands of fans chasing him
I remember I saw a photo of Michael as a monarch king when he was 25 and Elvis with a crown
Michael was extremely confident and boastful like he knew he was that dude
Elvis looked out of place and nervous
Nothing against Elvis, but Michael KNEW he was the king
Rip to both icons
@@CharlesH-t9rto be technical Michael was officially crowned a king in Africa. There's footage you can watch. I love how the haters say that Michael dubbed himself the king of pop when it's not the truth lol
Elvis loved Michael @@CharlesH-t9r
This footage of MJ grocery shopping is GOLD 🛒
The world did not deserve a person like Michael Jackson. May God have in his glory the greatest musical artist who passed through this world.
I was alone with Michael when I was 7 and he was 9, we talked about his aloneness and why. I wish I could have gotten to be that friend he wanted and needed. RIP Rest In Power and Peace MJ. Love You
I have no idea what being this famous felt like, but I can feel the loneliness expressed by Michael. He seemed like an incredibly shy and lonely person. I hope he is now resting in peace.
Crazy how someone may wish to be as famous as Michael Jackson, while Michael Jackson wished to go to the grocery store without being noticed.
Life can be so complex.
I miss sharing the world with Michael Jackson. I miss him and love him always. His at peace now RIP Michael Jackson 🙏❤️
He shared the world with us.
The grocery store scene brought tears to my eyes rest in peace forever Michael. I hope I get to meet you one day when we’re equal. I can just talk like normal stuff.
This man was a treasure who was so famous too famous for his own good he gave So many people hope. This was the biggest superstar in our lifetime. When he created his own space to be himself and invited small children with innocent views and wanted to just have them enjoy their child hood and live through them…. They called him a pervert and weird… so many people tried to get money off of him accusing him of being a pervert. In my heart I know he was a genuine man with so much love he wanted to give to the world I see the good in him. So many people who lied on him have been proven wrong time and time again… people still want to believe the worst. It’s sad. Truly sad. Let this man rest in peace!!!!!!! In heaven…

I have never seen or met anyone even CLOSE to how kind, caring, beautiful, and respectful Micheal Jackson. Its sad because no ones ever just nice anymore
There are plenty of nice people out there you just have to find the right one.
Гениальный,одинокий Король!!Тяжелая была у него жизнь!Им пользовались, его предавали.Я бы не хотела прожить его жизнь.Покойся с миром,Майкл.❤😢❤😢

Michael Jackson my dear, you did the best you could to make the world happy. I miss you personally. People misunderstood you and you knew it but still stayed string until they put your flame out. Michael your flame is still burning in our hearts and i hope the next generations will hear of you❤
He felt so alone but he couldn’t fix it. Being a celebrity was all he knew. It had been his lifestyle all his life. Heartbreaking.
Michael held a special place in my childhood. I really wish I could have met him, not just casually, but in a way where we could truly hang out and have genuine conversations. I see him as a beautifully misunderstood soul.
I wish I had discovered his music when I was younger but I wasn't really a music listener
I AM SO HAPPY, WHEN I SEE HIM AND HEAR HIS VOICE . YOU ARE NOT ALONE, WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH MICHAEL. YOU ARE NOW IN HEAVEN AND IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER!!! ❤❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜💜💜❣❣❣❣💟🥰💟🎆✌🏻✌🏻
There just isn’t anyone on the planet that will ever have the scale of fame as MJ did. He was literally the last of the great Superstars. Without a doubt the most famous person on earth. In a way it’s good no one has this today because it must be complete hell.
Watching this made me want to cry! He was so innocent! Beautiful, kind, delicate! And the evilness in this world basically chewed him up and spit him out!! All he was doing was spreading his light! I hope that he truly found peace on the other side because he deserves it! I hope to have the privilege of meeting him in heaven ❤️Miss you so much MJ❤
No matter what people say I think he was an incredible incredible artist and being that famous must come with so many tribulations I empathise for him. I think he was a sweet soul who really understood the troubles and sorrows of the world and communicated it well.
I would have loved to be MJ's friend. Keep resting King ❤ We miss you
Even with that extreme succes and being the most powerfull music mogul in the 80s (after buying for instance The Beatles catalogus), he still proceeds to be a very normal person with a lot of depth. He can distance his ego and extreme succes, while your college friend gets a degree and thinks everybody else is a peasant.
Go cry to your mama
Amazing that he had such a humble attitude considering his level of fame.
My heart shatters into million pieces to hear enormous pain in his voice ...
