Love all the butterflies, snails and dragonflies you caught on video as you passed through. Yet to hike this beautiful route, thanks for the inspiration.
Nice second episode! Loved seeing all those butterflies along the trail. I'm with you on the snake tally too. I was counting my encounters with them on the GSWW and came across a total of seven, two of those just a liiiiitle bit too close! Looking forward to the finale!
Brilliantly edited. Love it. Good insight ass to what to expect. Hoping to do this with a friend and wondered about things like water and facilities. Thank you for doing this. Really enjoying them 🙂
These are amazing. The editing and especially the B roll are just perfect. I’ve been living the last two years of lockdown through some amazing hiking / camping content and now you’ve come along and given me this. Never stop!
Ripper video Hayley! You've got a great eye with your shots and your choice of soundtracks was great as well, really gets you into the mood of the scenes. Love the shots at the beach, very nice 😉 If I'd come across the double fallen trees over the trail, I would have turned back and gone home! But you were very *cough* graceful *cough* in the end. 🤭 But way better than my effort a month or so ago! 🤪 I can't believe the butterflies! I would have loved walking with them, and the dragonflies as well, although they're a bit snobby and fly off when you get near them! 😂 But yeah! What's with the snails?! I thought you were going to say "Take me to your leader!!" at one point! What an awesome campsite at Cape Otway too and some decent facilities to boot. Overall, it's seem a very well maintained trail with great views, beaches and bushland plus lots of local fauna... pass on the snakes but!!! Can't wait for the next episode 😊
Thank you! Finding the music often takes me longer than it should so its nice to hear your comment on that! haha Hahah definitely pretty lucky that the track was so well maintained so I didnt have that many trees to get around! 😛 Walking through the butterflies was so nice, there were so many of them only a quarter of them were on camera! There was one particular dragon fly that sat still while I got some footage that I didnt end up using, but the rest were doing their own thing! Haha! I should have said take me to your leader! 😂 It was so hard not to step on any snails! Yep it was a great hike for sure, I think my favourite thing is that each day felt varied which kept things interesting! Thanks again!! ❤
This is a great series of videos. Well narrated, edited and shot. And what a lovely walk too. Keep it up, very entertaining and has inspired me for my next walk.
Yeah day three is usually when I am finishing up a hike not getting into the groove! Haha I do notice the difference from 6 days to 8 days those extra two days are something else!
Another great episode! Epic shot at 7:56 looking back down the coastline. We've all been there for those low morale days. Just gotta dust yourself off and starting grinding those kms :) Looking forward to the next one already!!
Thanks! it was probably one of my favourite shots for the whole trip! Haha it took 4 days for the reality of a solo hike to set in but so glad I did it! 😄
Having just walked days 1-3 of the GOW I can confirm the snails and butterflies have moved on, but the endless stairs out of Parker Inlet are very much still there and the Drop Bears are still fighting over Eliot Ridge campsite.
haha there is certainly no hiding those stairs or the bears 😂 I like to think the snails hitched a ride on the butterflies backs and they flew off into the sunset.
What was your most random thought of the hike? Mine was 'whatever happened to the Gobbledok?' (he was a little potato chip eating alien from Smiths chips ads back in the 80s/90s) I was on my descent down to Aire River, dodging the roughly 3 billion snails when I thought how good a job I was doing to have not squished any. Then I stood square on a huge one and he went crunch. I thought 'that was an impressive crunch, the Gobbledok would be proud of that' at which point I wondered where he went. I think the solitude may have been getting to me. I'd just walked all the way from Parker inlet, including an 8km rock scrambling detour from Crayfish Bay to the Lighthouse and back when I couldn't find a safe climb back up to the track. I definitely earned my Hydralyte that day! UPDATE: He had a mini revival in 2017. xD
Hahah! 😂 You've got me thinking now, i'll need to report back to you! Although I often think about how cool Mr Squiggle was. Those snails were sooo hard to dodge! I think I might have made 3 accidental snail sacrifices. Wow that certainly sounds like a hectic day for you! haha I think if I had someone with me I would have been more inclined to do more of those random side trips. Looks like I must have just missed the prime time for Gobbledok on television, im kind of glad, he looks traumatising 😂
@@settohike yeah, solo can be a challenge. From days 5-8, I joined up with a couple of girls on the same schedule. It's much easier to maintain motivation and push yourself with someone beside you.
Very beautiful video
thank you for filming it. i’m sure it took so much extra work but it’s so great to watch!
Thank you :) I might not like it at the time haha but when im home and have all this footage to work with, I appreciate my past filming self 😛

Aw thanks so much for watching them all! I hope your next walk is just as great! 😀
Hi again from UK. Love your editing. I'm glad you slept well. I'm surprised you did sleep well with that weather.
It must of been those first couple of days catching up with me! Thank you! 😊
Always wonderful to see you out there Hayley :)
You're the best! 🙂
beautiful work! divine butterfly footage xo
Thank you! Walking through the butterflies was so peaceful! 💚
So good. Looked a bit tough there but good on you for gritting it out. I always find day three or four of a hike I feel utterly crap.
Yeah day three is usually when I am finishing up a hike not getting into the groove! Haha I do notice the difference from 6 days to 8 days those extra two days are something else!
Excellent as always, look forward to part 3.
Cheers!
Another great vid H! Those danger noodles can be bothersome! Thankfully I walked it last month, so no noodles in winter 😂 Keep them coming!
Haha! I'm glad all the noodles were off hiding! How was the weather for the track in winter? Thanks! 🙂
Another awesome vid! Looking forward to the next one ❤️
Thank you! See you back here on the internets in a weeks time! haha ❤

Excellent video, keep up the good work & hiking! 👌 Also what's your base weight?
Nice!
😄😄😄
Have you walked the Northern Prom. circuit? . It is quite a trek!
No I haven't, only the southern circuit. Im sure it would be!

Love these videos thankyou! One small issue - the link to your gear on kitco doesn’t seem to be working?
Thank you! :) and thanks for letting me know! Quite a few things need to be updated on there so it looks like the links need some attention!
Do u use bearhangs
Fortunately I don't need to, I think a possum or mouse would be the most dangerous campsite animal 😛
