Rhoda and Joe should not have divorced , especially after the monster hit of the wedding episode in the previous season. What were the producers thinking?! It killed the series.

I wasn't a fan of the "la, la, la, la, la" version of the theme song either. And after hearing a small part of this variation of the theme on a CBS promo for the show without the children singing in the background, I'm inclined to agree even more that the kids' voices weren't necessary.
This theme sucks big time! It was better with her saying "My name is Rhoda Morgenstern...." from the first season. This is the most ANNOYING theme song of all time. I think I would rather hear Linda Lavin sing the theme from Alice..."There's a New Girl in Town". Even she sounds better than those rotten kids and the LA LA LA bullshit.
