The 81 Springboks had some great players and I don't believe that the series victory by the All Blacks was ever fully appreciated for what it was worth. France England, Pumas, USA all played the Springboks in the years either side of 1981. Yet totally ignored by media and protesters who solely demonized NZ rugby. Professional sports people like golfers were also apparently immune from condemnation, the hypocrisy of which still baffles me to this day.
