Slow swing jazz jam track for improvising on a 2-5-1 progression in C major!
Great 2-5-1 jazz guitar lesson by Jens Larsen goo.gl/wSKC0q
Check out Jens Larsen - / jenslarsen02
Tempo = 65 BPM
Chord progression:
II: Dm7 I G7 I Cmaj7 I Cmaj7 :II
In theory, you can play C major scale all over this, though preferably outlining the chord tones/arpeggios:
Cmaj7 arpeggio = c e g b
Dmin7 arpeggio = d f a c
G7 arpeggio = g b d f
Playing C Major scale will result in C Ionian (Cmaj7 chords), D Dorian (Dm7 chords) and G Mixolydian (G7 chords) - all the same 7 notes...
Next up, try out some more advanced colours on the dominant chord (G7/G13) by using the
G diminished 1/2-1 tone scale = G Ab Bb B C# D E F (G)

i dig the slow jams sometimes! Room to play.
My favorite one so far in exploring your many gems that have helped and inspired me so. This one after the first try I find really helps me open up lyrically. I don't know how to follow the chord changes on the guitar as indicated, but this helps the ear. Thank you again man!
just learning about chord soloing and this is helping a lot!
Thanks for the track, very useful!

Very good Backing track. Thank you !
Even though I'm more a blues music type person , I can still learn something here. This actually sounds great, sincce it sounds like some advanced blues I've heard
+Ato Cox awesome! Hope you enjoy 🙌
That "advanced blues"...is called jazz. Listen to Wes. That would be Wes Montgomery.

That's a left-handed Strat that you put the strings on in right-handed order? Interesting.
Like Jimi did with a right hand guitar.
Yer badass

Sounds beautiful! What pickups you have on the strat?
I believe those were the original ones (1977)
What is the scale you are using at the start of the video ? Thanks
all listed in the description :) Thanks
Wanted to start off by saying thank you for this dope backing track. Is there any way we'd be able to use it in our own content rather than just playing over it through this video? Thanks
you should make a backing track like Layla by Eric Clapton and wynton Marsalis
+Sabernax ahaaa!

Any tricks for a beginner to know where in the pattern you are and when to change chords?
Start off withy a Cmaj7 arpeggio chart.

👍🏻♥️♥️
is there notation or tab of intro solo
couldt help notice you using a left handed guitar with inverted stringsits werid, and i like it
A la Jimi Hendrix
excuse this question lol but im new to all of this... does it make sense that i used modes pver these three chords, so i usedfirst the dorian then the mixolydian and the the ionian mode... but they all sound the same! idk if theres something wrong with my ears or if i just did a position shift of a scale (i moved first to d dorian then g mixolydian and finally c ionian on their respectable roots)... please help im confused.. thanx
haha! they are the same! every note that you have mentioned is a part of c major. d dorian is the second mode of c major. g mixolydian is the fifth mode of c major. the trick is to use the notes in relation to whatever chord you are on. For instance, for the d minor, you want to accent d,f,a, and c. those are the notes of the d minor 7th chord. notice that each note is a third up from the last. thats how u get a sound that is unique for each chord. your on the right track, but this last step is where everything starts to click. you start to play ideas that you first heard in your head more spontaneously than before. but it takes practice first.
