Totally agree - the complaining is especially weird, since Sia has done a lot of songs capturing that exact feeling (ex: Chandelier). “Devastating lyrics with a beat” is basically the theme of a shit ton of her songs.
I actually really like this version for its own merit.... I can totally feel myself moving to this with my eyes closed, feeling it in my soul the same as I do the original..just in a different way 👏👏👏👏

Checking out Mylo’s remix now and the instrumentation and the way some of her vocals lay over the track is reminding me of Deep Forest’s debut eponymous album. And now I’m listening to the original version and it’s some heavy trip hop vibes like Massive Attack.

I like a cover that makes for an alternate reading of a song, such as Meg Mac cover or Broods Bridges or Cat Power's amazing cover of Can't get not satisfaction. Very hard to do but some manage it and those moments are to be cherished, just like the live playing.
It’s a tough song to cover, because what I like about the original by Sia is the emotionality, rawness and the vulnerability of her voice. This is good but it doesn’t work as well as the original. Just my opinion.
Good on them for taking it in a new direction, she sings ace but the whole house music vibe kinda wrecks it. I just reckon they should’ve toned down the house 🤷♂️. Strings are top notch though 👍.

Why go halfway with the cover? The male vocals come off like a shy DJ and the female like a group of middle class women that used to be in a school gospel choir, treating sad and emotional music as an opportunity to show off their pipes which don't compare to the classic. Lean into the EDM, shy DJ got it right. Otherwise the cheery version of a dark song just sounds like disrespect. Love the concept though.

I know it's my personal view that seeing artists enjoy a dark song usually takes away from a cover for me and even though many people really love that kinda thing I really love the opposite. I get that the juxtaposition between deep lyrical content and fast dance-able instrumentation can be cool but to me it seems like they completely wiped out all the mournfulness and vulnerability in favour of a fun radio friendly sound. But I honestly think it's great that you like this people have different emotional reactions to everything and while I feel nothing but antipathy you seem to be very touched which is wonderful :)
