The confusion can be explained by Ichinen Sanzen "10 thousands realms in a single moments thought". Christians belief is linear. Buddhist beliefs are spiral. As such, enlightenment exists in the lower realms of hell and hungry ghosts. Bodhisattvas "dwell" (as this Priest stated) in all realms to save all humans from suffering.

The reason you struggled to understand the issues discussed was because it was two different world views, two different perspectives and understanding or explanation of existence. So asking Christian questions to a Buddhist might not make sense and vice versa.

Buddhism is mediation without fellowshipping and forgiveness. Christianity is observing with the requirement to forgive. Jesse is correct. Christianity is clearly the best religion.
Jesse believes in God, who's responsible for all existence. He represents the truth, and the truth represents him and his existence. He is everything, and everything is he. This priest believes in truth, which is God in the same sense because it represents the existence of everything, which God is ultimately responsible for. If God is truth and they believe in truth, they believe in God, regardless of how they describe his existence. Jesse believes that God helps you see, but you cannot know God's ways until he chooses to reveal them to you. While you know God, you can't imagine what and who he is, what he's capable of, and how deep he goes. You can only perceive him in the way he wants you to perceive him. But everyone can perceive him since he is in everyone, and everyone is part of him. If you seek him, he'll come. This priest believes that he can tap into the truth, which helps him see reality and flow with it, but he cannot describe, define or name it. Hence he is unable to determine what God is since he's just a mere human being. He can only perceive him in the form of truth. Ultimately, that's what God is in Christianity. Jesse believes in Heaven and Hell, Heaven being one with the father, God, the owner of truth, and Hell is a state of falling away from the father into chaos and darkness. The priest believes in Heaven's realm, in which he's one with the truth, and hell, in which he is fallen away from the truth. He also believes in other realms. There are states of being in Christianity. Realms and states, different words, same meaning. Dharma is basically "the word." Budha is another word for "Awakened One," aka Christ, and Buddhists is another word for followers of the awakened one, aka Christians. Budha is not their god, just like Christ is not Jesse's God. He is his brother, just as Budha is his brother. The reason Buddhists name themselves that way is because they see Budha as their brother who has tapped into the truth, just as Christ was one with his father, and his followers are Christians. Like Christ, Buddha passed on his teachings, Dharma (the word), to his followers, and they follow the Dharma (the word, aka the truth). Jesse can be considered an awakened one, or Budha, and he uses the truth, which God lets him tap into, to help awaken others. Those he helps awaken, his followers, can go to him to seek guidance, but ultimately, they have to tap into God, spiritually, to see. Jesse is just like them at the end of the day. They are awakened to the spirit of truth. They seek the truth and see how its presence influences them or its lack of presence moves them away from the awakened state of being. They understand it's spiritual, as Jesse preaches. It's all spiritual. Jesse believes in the devil. They think, for them, it's a state of being in which they are falling away from the truth. A form of being in which you cannot see, that's the devil. Again, Jesse might see Satan and God as spirits, but Buddhists see them as states of being because they perceive them differently. It's not that they're not influenced by the same things Jesse is. They sense God differently, yet they're able to perceive him/it just the same. It's actually quite impressive how differently God lets everyone perceive him, but everyone is unable to live without feeling his constant presence, regardless of the form he takes place in. Jesse believes we're in a fallen state. Fallen away from God. They think that the world is in the age of falling away from Dharma, meaning they're falling away from the truth. If the truth is the teaching from the awakened one, then basically, for us, we're in the age of falling away from Christ's teaching. Christ was Budha, and Dharma was the truth he came to deliver. I find it very interesting that when Jesse asks him about what Christians believe of Christ's return, the priests answer that they too have a concept in which Buddha will return, but they do not know how. They do not dwell on it because they live here and now and not in the future. If they start dwelling on the possible future, they will lose touch with the present, where God is, or the truth. Then it will create disputes between them because no thought is real, and you do not know the future, and if you think you do, then Satan is lying to you, and anger begins. It's very similar to Jesse's teaching of only the present existing and waiting and seeing what happens because you cannot comprehend what God has planned for you. As Christians, we believe that God puts a part of him inside of us, not only us, but everything is of God, from God, and is God. We are born from God, and when we die, we return to God. God is the here and now. They believe in the source, the source of truth. So when he says, we come from here, and we go back to here, he basically means we come from God. We return to God. If they believe in reincarnation, it just means that when you go back to God, God is not a room in the sky, but a spirit that dwells in all things, and so you return to existence in another form, because God is infinite, and so you being part of him, is infinite. It's a challenging concept to grasp, but it's profound and very Christian. When Jesse asked him, what he wants to be when he's reincarnated, he answered that a Dolphine would be nice, but he doesn't dwell in "wanting" because humans should try and cease from "wanting" and just "wait and see" or accept the now and not "want" for the future. It's the same as Jesse telling you to not plan for anything because you don't know what you want or what you need, and God will provide everything to you, and when it's time to receive it, you'll receive it and be grateful you've received it because it's precisely what you needed. Nirvana is the state of eliminating sin and being one with God. Ultimate peace can only exist in ultimate chaos because that makes it ultimate. Christ in hell was ultimate peace in maximum chaos. Nirvana. When Jesse asks why Blacks are attacking Asians, he answers that blacks feel a sense of oppression, and anger is their most unskillful way of expressing that. They seek power to overcome that state which is of anger and fear, which comes from sin. Basically, in sin, there is no peace, and without peace, there is war. While he doesn't condone violence, he supports BLM because he wants to love thy neighbor, and he wants to reach out to them, answer them, and help them, not as a movement, but as human beings who are collectively suffering. He's not blaming white-people for the suffering, but oppression. What is oppression? Anger in the family, judgment from everyone around, the devil, trauma. It's the fallen state. When Jesse asked if you should lock them and throw away the key, he said, if he helps them realize the cause and effect, meaning, if it helps them reach out to god, and be embraced by him, then yes. He doesn't want to punish. He wants to understand why they are the way they are and bring them back to the truth. I can't remember which BOND episode it was; Jesse or one of his staff talked about how Christ could see the spirit influencing the people around him. He didn't hate them or judge them because he saw they could not help it, and they could not see what was behind their actions. Ultimately, I believe Buddhists don't believe in war and can offer the other cheek to be slapped because they see the spirit of ignorance in the person who's angry and wants to inflict violence on them. They do not feel a sense of anger or self-preservation that would enable them to use self-defense to inflict pain on the other person, which will push that person down the rabbit-hole even further. Although if they see that a slap is what a person needs to wake up, then they would do so, as that priest used as his example in what they do in the temple. His answer to what is a man was "a form of being that enables us to experience the consciousness of truth." Basically, being human is a form of being that allows us to experience God. You want proof this man is practicing Christianity or has an understanding of God? His answer to "What is Love" was "understanding without judgment." "Do you support abortions" - "Depends"? Why? Because you need to be in the situation to see what the right thing to do is, so while there is an absolute value to life that should be respected, there's no general answer to that question. In each case, the answer should come from God to the person in the situation. Replace that with "Should you ever kill a man," for him, if killing a man means to wake him up and bring him out of hell, then the answer would be yes. If it means killing a man and lock him in hell for all eternity, the answer would be no. It depends.
Personally, I get a lot of inspiration from buddha as I do with many philosophies... But I have to say. This guy does not sound like he's sold on buddhism. I'm 20 minutes in and he's had to think about an answer to pretty much every one of Jesses questions so far.
That's because he's humble enough to acknowledge that sometimes you may not understand everything, unlike christians like JLP who feel that they know everything just because they read a story book from 2000 years ago, and refuse to learn a thing or two from other , much older cultures.

The uneven imbalances of the righteousness produced by the Buddha and the Christ is at the root of this trouble.
If ever the world will see the light of inner(அகம்) and outer(புறம்) Perfection which alone can save us it is undoubtedly in the coming together of the best that the east and west has produced and that is the personal revolution of the Buddha and the societal transformation of the Christ...
The difference is one is a believer (Jesse) and the other is a seeker(The monk). The truth will reveal itself for those who seek and not for those who believe.

It seems like he doesn't have good social skills, or is at least not comfortable with this kind of discussion
Notice how Rev. Gyokei Yokoyama didn't ask Jesse how he defined any of the things he was asking, like god and hell. Strange thing is that the people that were speaking ill of Jesse in the pastor Jennings interview are still here following Jesse. It's so true. We are in a spiritual battle
Jesse is very unassuming with his questions. If he doesn't know, he asks, even at the cost of appearing "ignorant"! A great example of how we come to understand things.
The monk struggled so hard to succinctly express his views. He seems very sweet. I think it's partly his culture to be very careful not to offend. His dimples are adorable.

He doesnt even know what he believes. Just read the word of GOD. And focus on the LORD JESUS CHRIST. everything else is a counterfeit, and leads to HELL.
I think he's speaking by trying to translate concepts starting in Japanese into English. Many of these religious concepts don't have a one for one translation since they started in a different culture. Kind of like how he had to think before he said "son of the community". After seeing this interview, I would never want to be a Buddhist, no clear answers and I’m left confused of what it is... as a woman I would definitely not feel any security. God bless him!
Buddism starts with one practice za-zen meditation. What it does is hard to explain but it is not in the realm of words.
The reason you struggled to understand the issues discussed was because it was two different world views, two different perspectives and understanding or explanation of existence. So asking Christian questions to a Buddhist might not make sense and vice versa.
Well thats the great thing about life. Once you realize nothing matters then everything matters. The security is your own mind.

Even though both are speaking English, it is like watching two people speak two different languages. I learned about Buddhism recently and it is very hard to articulate for me but I have always said I think Jesse's silent prayer is a form of Buddhist meditation. I got into the new age stuff years ago and working in the SELF, and it all gave me a deeper understanding to the things Jesse speaks on. I love how simple Jesse makes everything but the deeper understanding of it comes from a spiritual level and once you really reach that enlightened state(as buddhists believe) it's like being born again in way Jesse teaches. They both seem to be speaking about the same deeper truths to this world and universe but I think it's hard for them to understand each other. They are speaking of the same things, just using different words for them. Like Jesse uses the word God where this guy is using the word Source. Another example, Jesse uses the word Spirit and this guy uses the word Self.
Anyway, I was really looking forward to this interview! Learning about quantum physics and all the new science stuff has just validates the stuff that religions have taught for thousands of years. Buddhism is mediation without fellowshipping and forgiveness. Christianity is observing with the requirement to forgive. Jesse is correct. Christianity is clearly the best religion.
Christianity makes no sense whatsoever.
@@germanherman3331 What's confusing about it?
His answer to "What is Love" was "understanding without judgment."
"Do you support abortions" - "Depends"? It depends.

Charming fella but seems like he doesnt know about his own religion he s given up his own life to follow! What The??!!!!
If Jesse was fluent in Japanese and the interview was done in Japanese, the priest would be more eloquent then.
Buddhism is a philosophy on how to live life. So he's a buddhist monk. There's not religion here.
This was Amazin’. Jesse has a talent for feeling out his guest and asking the right questions
He ask all the same questions in every interview

His classic line throughout "sorry ...I am not dodging the question ..."
I am more interested in the next episode
This conversation got real deep. Good questions too. Always wonder if there were similarities or not.
