Have you tried Field Rocket at all? Jobber looks cool, Housecall Pro is way too expensive, but they don't have a free plan like Field Rocket so I'm curious what your thoughts are? We're just small and don't want to break the bank, plus I heard Jobber charges per user and I don't think Field Rocket does?

I know, we're in the same boat. Trying to choose between Field Rocket (a free one we found) and Jobber. Jobber isn't free though, Field Rocket has been nice, super nice when in the field. But we're just on the free version but it's a big decision so we're still looking

Thanks for this info it was extremely helpful more than all the other videos out there , I’m still not sure which one to go with yet as a new small business and being a female this is all new but I’m definitely going to give it a shot . I don’t want an expensive right now so I like the more affordable option .

It is tough to decide, I think trying out each one is really the only way to know which would suit you best.

@@TheHandyManual lawn care services, my grand opening will be in May …. Considering I’m a small business in a new business HOUZZ PRO is more expensive for me so I have to choose one of the other three for now.
@@TheHandyManual I was also thinking I can send notification to my customers letting them know all appointments will be performed with in 2 - 3 hours of schedule time . Which one you recommend for small business I really don’t have the clientele right now ,but I have strong faith that my clientele will be built

I think that’s a good workaround if the software you end up using doesn’t have arrival windows built into it. You could create an email or text template to send when scheduling clients with that messaging to reduce the repetitiveness on your end.
Of the four, I’d say give Workiz a try. Their Lite plan is completely free and allows you to do all the basics - scheduling, estimating, invoicing, etc.

Jobber actually now has an arrival window feature available when you are scheduling the job and notifying the customer of the date and time. However, Jobber is a bit expensive for where my business is at this time so I'm looking for an alternative.

Jobber is crazy expensive. It would be great if they offered just the scheduling service as an independent pay feature. They have rolled too many features into one service. So you end up paying a boat load and getting stuff you don't really need. Jobber was great in the early days.

Any more insights you could share on Workiz or experience?
As far as workiz estimates and not having internal notes we just use excel sheets and Dropbox shared folder for our estimating sheets we've built and use in conjunction with the workiz estimate and we put our internal notes on the excel sheet we save. Works perfectly.
Any hints on how you made those estimating sheets, or is it just from time you added on to it? I’ve been having difficulty with estimating as I’m new to starting my own business

You can save a blank spreadsheet after you build it so you can use it for every new job.

Yeah but Kind of Pricey
Cost per each is huge as well as tools assist users in automating data entry, pulling updated prices of materials and equipment. Housecall pro, you have to load your price book. I’ve been looking for a software that is easy to use, price book per zip code etc with labor and material costs. I’m a 1 man band sitting on 6 estimates currently. Hardest part is preparing, figuring out numbers, scheduling as well as working the field all day. All of these comparisons still doesn’t show US contractors the easy/fastest way to prepare an estimate. All the extra stuff is good but we all can go old school without “running late” etc/ “see the texts/calls”. Needed is 1 software that is simple, click, drag n drop, everything is in the price book to make estimates (hardest part) a BREEZE!!
Hi, Which one would you recommend for a small 3 person electrical business? I'd like something with a good job estimator where I can send the client a job invoice. like to keep in under $200. I also use Quickbooks. Thanks!
Have you tried Field Rocket? Been pretty good for us, we're small and started on their free version.

Booking Koala is based out of Asia kind of weird, Field Rocket was built in Salt Lake Utah, been really solid for us.
Markate seems like the winner for me
Housecall pros doesn’t have customer portal !! And that’s a major down .
Don’t they have online booking and a spot where they can go in and pay invoices? Got a demo today and likely will be switching from Jobber. Thoughts?
House call pro charges too much and structures its buy in levels impracticaly.
jobber and housecall pro are the same price $65 and $169. What other service software is cheaper with same stuff?

U ever heard of FieldRocket? Just trialed it while considering Jobber and Housecall and was impressed... not sure what ill go with. What are your thoughts on Markate? Ive never really heard of it
I currently have jobber now but don't like the fact that each of my salesmen can see the request that I have assigned to each of them. (I only want them to see what is assigned to the specifically). Does anyone know of any other software that would be better (their pay is commission based)

Jobber completely ignores the fact we have sales people. Big oversight for an application that is supposed support medium sized businesses with more than 5 employees. There are no metrics for sales people...i.e number of quotes, quotes landed, etc. I've used jobber for almost 10 years and I have a number of beefs the platform so I'm looking for other options too. Don't get me started on partial refunds..lol.
Have you heard of service Titan? They may be more suitable for you the company I'm working for now uses them pretty clean layouts too

Thryv is terrible and doesn’t even compare to these other crms. I used thryv for 6 months and it was terrible for a service business.
Jobber is too expensive and way overpriced for what it offers. It’s basically an invoicing app with a few extra features. No value at all
