QBO doesn’t provide enough data for job costing. In construction, job costing is imperative to understanding profit margins and thus bidding future jobs accurately. What do you use for job costing?
We use BuilderTrend to do all our job costing. To track overall financials, we use QBO, however, we have some of our own spreadsheets for this as well.
Try integrating int to JobTread, you can clock in/out and it automatically adds the costs to the line item in the original budget/estimate for that specific job - same thing with adding vendor bills, etc
How do you job cost or do you just watch your P&L and adjust accordingly. The projects feature is clunky and still doesn’t show your job cost on an estimate.
We replaced Zoom with Google Meets and we no longer use Hubdoc because we changed out process. We have not added anything else as we're always trying to simplify!
Casey, can you recommend a CRM or software solution for after the job has been completed? Staying in touch with your clients and building referrals? Buildertrend is awesome but doesn't seem to have a solution once the job is done. Thanks!
Procore seems to be one of the best but it's a pretty penny - I implemented JobTread for a demo company in LA that previously used Procore, they said it's like Procore and Asana on steroids.
How do you like Buildertrend after the latest updates? We have been using it for about 4 years now and loved it up until the latest update. We are looking to jump ship primarily because they got rid of auto save. Have you found something better?
We're actually in the process of looking into CoConstruct but it's owned by BuilderTrend as well. The reason for us changing is primarily because we do cost-plus contracts and CoConstruct is supposed to be better for this. We have not officially changed anything yet. We were confused with some of the recent updates as well but have found most of the changes to be helpful and speed things up once we got used to them.
one of the few best videos on TH-cam aside from helping how to manage your works it explains a lot of general-purpose apps in simple words
Wow thanks! Glad it was helpful!

Why did you make the switch to QBO? Is it worth it for a Small home builder that currently uses Desktop contractor?
We did it because we have a team of people who work remotely. Keeps it simple and does not require anybody to be in a specific location.

Awesome! What do you use for project management?

We are not impressed with BT :/@@Theconsciousbuilder
Thanks Casey, very informative!
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful!
Which is the best software for managing construction activities under 150dollars per month for using all d feature
Not sure of any software at that price for construction. if you find something, let us know!
Curious if your list is any different now! Any new ones you'd add? I have been really like JobTread.

Unfortunately we don't have anything for this either. I create reminders in my phone to check in with people. Simple but effective.
Hi Casey, I'm curious -- have you tried Procore for your project management? If so, your thoughts? Thanks!
Hi Jeniece, thanks for watching! We have not tried Procore.

Nice
