In the mid-90s, I was taken captive into Jane Austen's world by BBC's "Pride and Prejudice" starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. I was surprised to discover Jennifer was an American and from the south no less! I watched it countless times when it was first released. I hooked my best friend and sister on it. We are in an ice lockdown here in Tulsa. Day four will be tomorrow, so Mr. Darcy, here I come! I love this video by the way! 🥰😍🌹
Aww, hope the ice lockdown has passed safely! I love that version as well, I don't think I realized Jennifer was American, she does such an amazing job as Lizzie. 🙌
Patty- I wore empire waist dresses in high school back in the 60s. It was the first dress that I made myself. By the time I graduated, I had quite a few dresses. I have a dip pen and a calligraphy pen with nibs. I just started getting back to it. I love writing letters.
I recently went to visit one of Jane Austens homes. It was adorable. Everything so pretty. Going to Bath this September to the Jane Austen Festival. I was born in the wrong age 😂😂😂. Loved your video. ❤
Oh! An online bonnet (or maybe hat) decorating party! That would be fun. (I know you didn't mention it, I am feeding you the idea :) ) This is such a charming video, perfect way to start February, so many lovely ideas for the month. I will definitely be making recipes this month, I am hoping to find some baking recipes. Poetry for sure, whether or not I am able to get to a novel. Painting - I seem to recall seeing people painting on an easel set up in fields in movies...I cannot say WHICH movie at all, just something I recall. Maybe we will save the painting fields for Spring.
Haha, an online bonnet decorating party would be so fun! That is one thing I have not purchased yet, a Regency style hat. 🤔💸😂 I think they're often painting in pretty places in Emma adaptations, that would be a lovely spring pastime!
Beautifully created video ART, Emma! ☺️♥️🫖☕️ I have an unfinished cross-stitch, also! 🤔🫣😅♥️ I looove quill/ink/wax seals! ✒️📜💌 I want to STILL make a seed cake with my kids, Hobbit inspired, but could be Regency, also?! Hobbitency?! 😎
Thank you so much, Amy! 😊 Seed cake would be perfect - I want to try Martha Lloyd's recipe for Carraway Seed Cake! Hobbitency, I love it. Maybe Bilbo will just pop by Pemberley for tea one day. 😂
This is beautiful, you seem to be from another era for sure and this suits you perfectly. I had to look up syllabub, besides being a very cool word it looks delicious!
Syllabub is such a fabulous word, and it was delicious too! There was one recipe I came across that was "syllabub under the cow." 😂 I just made it in the mixer.
I looove the domesticity and femininity of this video! 🥰♥️ A really lovely domestic inspiration book that isn’t connected with the Regency Era, but your video makes me think of is The Gentle Art of Domesticity by Jane Brocket. 🥰
Your dress is so pretty! I love the soft pink color. I'm excited to experience Febregency along with the Bookish Kingdom. Thank you for sharing these wonderful ideas! 📚🫖🍵
Oh Emma, even your name is blessed by Jane. I love your video. I belonged to a regency society group in Virginia. We dressed, and I mean dressed for everything! And the seamstresses in this group are so talented. One even learned how to make hats and she sells them far and wide. Shocking Bad Hats. We had teas, had dancing, went to historical houses and we even had a duel! I miss it so much. I've even been to regency ladies retreats in historic houses and had a lady who works at Colonial Williamsburg cook a meal of real beef and vegetables they raise there. It was the best! I even went to England with them and stayed in a historical house in Bath! I want to go back there. I think that all these activities bring so much to the experience. I'd love to have that cookbook!
Early American is a great channel! Ron & Justine have a 2nd channel called Frontier Patriot where they eat and review the “receipts” that they make on Early American. It’s fun to see their reactions and hear their thoughts about these historic dishes. Some are good, and some . . . not so good. LOL!
Thank you for creating this video! I'm so excited to have discovered your channel. :) And, I can't wait to join in Febregency next year. Also, would you mind sharing where you found that adorable doll-sized carriage (an pony)? Did someone make it for you? Thanks again!
I’m loving the style of this video, Emma! We’ve been really into playing card games this winter to pass the evenings, so will definitely be looking into Wisp! Also, can totally relate to the cat-instantly-jumping-into-the-Amazon-box 😂
It's actually Whist (difficult to enunciate properly, lol). My brother Athos loves to play it! It's so inspiring to see the enjoyment cats get out of a simple box. 😸
This is such a lovely video! I’m definitely going to be channeling some of the Regency goodness while reading Evelina! And I’ll be listening to some regency era hymns as well. I found out Jane Austen’s favorite poet was one of my favorite hymn writers (William Cowper), so I’m very excited about that!
I just found your video's I'm sorry so late to ask questions, but I hope it's ok. In the title it say's (in Everyday Modern Life). Does that mean that you live this way always? And you also keep saying (Regency)? So does this refer to a time period? Also Regency Ear starter kit? I have always enjoyed Jane Austen but this is the first time coming across anything like this. I really enjoyed your video and would love to learn so much more Thank you and would love anything you can information or suggestions 🤗
I absolutely love that porcelain(?) tea tray with the high walls. Highly considering getting one like it if I can find it. Is there a special term for those?
I’m rather intrigued by the idea of purposefully living more like people did in the past as I think it’s probably healthy to unplug and to plug into the past when life was simpler and people were much more connected and cared more about each other. My personal interest is a bit more the renaissance than regenc/American colonial style, but I think a lot of it winds up being similar even if the aesthetics are somewhat different.
Thanks! Here are the three I purchased: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K7QN7CB/ www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L6DKMN4/ www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HHVMXHQ

her mother is from the UK. and she grew up in the UK and the US. I guess that's why you can't tell🌹

This was so much fun. Love how deeply you’ve immersed yourself in the regency era.
It's been so much fun to learn more about it!

I love this! I recently purchased a book entitled The Jane Austen Cookbook and am looking for more Regency era books.
Your kitty is adorable 😺.
I love Early American! Another really good one is Townsends. Lovely video. I am still toying with buying a dress!
Ohh will have to check them out too! The dress isn't *super* practical - I wouldn't wear it out and about probably, lol - but I do love having it!

@@BookishPrincess I’m going to give it a try but I’ll stick with the basic before I get all fancy. 😉 Thanks for the giggle, Emma.

I think I've heard of that, I'll have to check it out!
What lovely ideas. Just making my way through her novels this year. Cymbaline loves her Amazon box …. So sweet 😺
Cymbeline claims every box that enters the house, lol!
Delightful! Thank you.
Thanks for watching! ❤️
Just discovered your channel and subscribed immediately. This video was truly a delight…I can’t wait to check out your previous posts!!😊❤

That sounds so wonderful!! Now that I have the dress I feel like I need to find a society or an event to wear it to.
Hello Emma! This is such a beautiful & informative video! Absolutely Stunning!😁😁😁👍👍👍
Thank you so much!! I was just watching your Febregency TBR video, love it! 😊❤️
Such a lovely video really got me in the spirit on an extremely hot & humid Australian morning... thank you! 🤗😊
Thanks Melissa! You can send some of that heat my way, it's been freezing here! 😆
Beautiful video, Emma!
Thanks Shawna!
Your gown is stunning 💖
Thank you so much! 💕

It was actually from American Girl's Felicity Merriman collection!
@@BookishPrincess Oh wow, how fun!

It's such a fascinating time period to explore!
This is FANTASTIC 😍 Had no idea that "empire waist" referred to the Napoleonic empire?!?
It's crazy how radically the French Revolution changed the fashion of the time!

The big round tea tray is actually made of tin! I got it from Emma Bridgewater.
@@BookishPrincess ohhh that makes sense and is so much better! Lighter and easier to handle. Thank you!
Your dress and hair so enchanting
Thank you so much!

Where is your needlepoint from?
Have you ever created a question and answer vlog?
A very lovely video!
😊❤️😊
Hello Emma
Would you mind linking the fake collars you found?
Your dresses are so pretty.
