We have had dogs for nearly all of our 56 years of marriage. We decided after the last little dog died, that we wouldn't get another and as we have since sold the farm and moved into town (and starting to do more caravanning), having a dog isn't a necessity. We do babysit our daughter's dog so we get our fix that way. Loving your videos and thank you very much for all your hard work Carol and Ken.
"you go first", such a gentleman! 😉 Totally agree about backpackers that have not understood it is safer for them (and easier) to put their packs (backs) into the hedge, it seems counter-intuitive but it is the best way on those kind of narrow lanes when you meet a vehicle.
For my wife and I a dog is a gift from God and we have always had one...28yrs..but..if your happy with your life ..no..they are a life's commitment ..enjoy your life ..remember ..in the blink of an eye. Bless you both
A most enjoyable vlog- loved the places you visited and such beautiful music 🎶. My husband and I are retired- we are out every morning on hikes with our dog. She loves to ride in our large SUV and keeps us moving on the trails but our little chihuahua cannot tolerate being in a vehicle so she waits for us at home. If you ever adopt a dog and travel with it be careful to get one that loves being a passenger, doesn’t mind tight confinement and has a low shedding coat

Well, that was some very stirring music, especially on the swooping drone shot. Nicely done! And I've realised that it pays to accumulate material during the summer months so that in winter you can release sunshiny episodes with beautiful lush green scenery, rather than the drab, rainy stuff I've been churning out lately. Growing the channel is a marathon and trying to sprint the whole way has a high failure risk.
As a retired Driving Instructor Ken both civilian and police and former ADI and Gold standard LSD( league of safe drivers), you are quite right anticipate what shouldn't happen but might and you seem to still practice that advice to your credit, also working from your horizon towards yourself so as not to be caught by surprise etc That aside great video as usual lovely change from the TV.
Hello Michael, my driving course was one of the most intense courses I had in the job as you will know. An eagle eyed observer sat next to me watching my every move and two grinning idiots in the back taking the P out of every mistake. Our instructor used to organise the most wonderful lunch stops at various canteens dotted around Southern England. All the canteens have been shut these days so new recruits will never get to experience it as we did. 😁👍

We manage well with our small dog in our camper. She takes over one of the front seats while I sit on the other and my wife sits on the bench seat. Muddy paws are dealt with outside the van with a quick wash in a collapsible washing up bowl or wet wipes if not too bad.

Christmas greetings on the "other" vid today. This just to say how curious that Ken didn't seem to have come across bara brith on your extensive Walian tours. It's lowering on every shop shelf and tea room menu to jump out at you. A must on a trip to Wales.
Hari Om MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! This was a lovely watch (after the recovered Morecambe and Wise &*>) It gave me some flashback memories; 1) waaay back last century, before emigration to OZ, I undertook the Advanced Driving Course supervised by the Lothian Police and have always used the defensive driving techniques, read the road 'horizon' and appropriate gear engagement! So good to hear you mention these things, Ken. 2) I have always used my horn on blind corners/hills - but it seems to be a habit that is rather overlooked these days. 3) Even further back in to the depths of last century (nearly half way!) I had to make Bara Brith in our bread-making section of Domestic Science classes at school - it's good... but Selkirk Bannock still wins for me. 4) From those same early years, at Girl Guides and on school rambles, we were always taught to walk 'against the traffic' on roads without sidewalk facilities. Far too few folk seem to be aware of that these days, too. Thanks for triggering these memories and thoughts and i hope you have had a most wonderful day today. YAM xx

Ha ha we have had a walk around the grounds at Dudmaston Hall NT today and the dog was soaked and muddy. I actually said can you imagine her jumping into Carol and Ken’s van now?! She’s still drying off! Lovely video and interesting to see the runway. Wasn’t expecting that. X
Memories flooding back of holidays with the kids at St Davids,, the airfield had various aircraft based during the war from Hampden’s and Halifax,s to Flying Fortresses and Liberators, quite a busy little airfield in it’s day. @@LifeistooshortCK I honestly do not know. Some stupid law forbids the changes inside or out of a vehicle. Only the factory made vehicles are allowed to have a license. That is why people make these transformations on their own. Making bed and drawers and lockers from plywood and keeping them stealthy. Even the campers had enormous custom charges until the beginning of 2021. That's why there weren't any new ones during the past 10 years. Pick up trucks are not allowed also, unless they are for professional use only. I am glad we had this chat. By the way, let me invite you to my other channel. I see by the thumb nail you wear a beany hat. Both myself and my wife have just been bought black beany hats with USB rechargeable lights within the hat's design for x mas. What a great idea for going to the toilets and back to the van or whatever, late at night, in the cold. You get them from Amazon evidently.

On the subject of dogs. I grew up with dogs and cats. Now, I just live with a cat. It seems to me that that having a dog or multiple dogs seems to be a must have accessory these days. The companionship walking with your dog as a companion is truly a delight but you have each other and a lovely campervan and no wet dog smells in a confined space!

Wondering what flew onto and off of the airstrip, you ask? I googled St. David’s Airstrip, Wales, 1943 and discovered that Liberators as well as Halifax’s flew out of that airstrip. Squadron Bombers. A Halifax was shot down just off the coast by a German UBoat, which always surprises me. Don’t know why as the U Boats also crept up the Coast of the US and we all know how heavily the UK was hit by bombers. There are some brave men born every generation, but in some there were more born than in others. It seems to me that hundreds of soldiers were made of stronger stuff during WWII. I could be wrong but I think WWI was so brutal and demoralizing for all sides that the humor and the bravado was less frequent or less often reported but the boys fighting for the Allies, the British, the Scottish, the Americans, the Native Americans and the Canadians and more were filled with a compassion, fierce competition, a baudy sense of humor and as many guts as brain cells than during any other time. I wasn’t there but my father in law, my grandfather, a few uncles were. And I went to school with a handful of code talkers boys and the stories I heard about the deeds of so many men in varying units just amaze me. Why I am talking and reminiscing about something I know nothing about is a puzzle but when I was reading about the “accidents” that occurred at that airstrip (being shot down doesn’t seem like an accident to me but am guessing it wasn’t a smooth or even actual landing so I get it. But I could picture all those boys pouring out of all of the buildings and climbing into those planes to chase off the stray ship that snuck into enemy territory. They were probably more successful than not. So if you know planes, that’s what they said and you would know, first hand, about the bravery of the men who followed those soldiers and you are welcome to correct me if I am shortchanging the boys that followed the WWII soldiers.
We all owe a huge debt to all who fought in those wars and they were the salt of the earth. There are many amongst us now who are busy trying to destroy what they did for us. Trying to re-write our history and make us feel bad about who we are and where we come from. They need to be challenged at every opportunity.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! This was a lovely watch (after the recovered Morecambe and Wise &*>) It gave me some flashback memories;
1) waaay back last century, before emigration to OZ, I undertook the Advanced Driving Course supervised by the Lothian Police and have always used the defensive driving techniques, read the road 'horizon' and appropriate gear engagement! So good to hear you mention these things, Ken.
2) I have always used my horn on blind corners/hills - but it seems to be a habit that is rather overlooked these days.
3) Even further back in to the depths of last century (nearly half way!) I had to make Bara Brith in our bread-making section of Domestic Science classes at school - it's good... but Selkirk Bannock still wins for me.
4) From those same early years, at Girl Guides and on school rambles, we were always taught to walk 'against the traffic' on roads without sidewalk facilities. Far too few folk seem to be aware of that these days, too.

Ha ha we have had a walk around the grounds at Dudmaston Hall NT today and the dog was soaked and muddy. I actually said can you imagine her jumping into Carol and Ken’s van now?! She’s still drying off! Lovely video and interesting to see the runway. Wasn’t expecting that. X

Memories flooding back of holidays with the kids at St Davids,, the airfield had various aircraft based during the war from Hampden’s and Halifax,s to Flying Fortresses and Liberators, quite a busy little airfield in it’s day. Thanks again for your vids, and a very Happy new year, let’s hope travels are not restricted again.
We love triggering good memories with the videos. That was a busy base and must have been quite a sight for the locals during the war. Wishing you a Happy New Year as well 👍 The public inquiry into Covid is going to be an interesting thing to watch. I have suspicions that lockdowns are being used to save face now and not to protect us. They helpfully cover up what would have happened anyway had they not been used.

@@LifeistooshortCK I honestly do not know. Some stupid law forbids the changes inside or out of a vehicle. Only the factory made vehicles are allowed to have a license. That is why people make these transformations on their own. Making bed and drawers and lockers from plywood and keeping them stealthy. Even the campers had enormous custom charges until the beginning of 2021. That's why there weren't any new ones during the past 10 years. Pick up trucks are not allowed also, unless they are for professional use only. I am glad we had this chat. By the way, let me invite you to my other channel. I see by the thumb nail you wear a beany hat. Both myself and my wife have just been bought black beany hats with USB rechargeable lights within the hat's design for x mas. What a great idea for going to the toilets and back to the van or whatever, late at night, in the cold. You get them from Amazon evidently.

On the subject of dogs. I grew up with dogs and cats. Now, I just live with a cat. It seems to me that that having a dog or multiple dogs seems to be a must have accessory these days. The companionship walking with your dog as a companion is truly a delight but you have each other and a lovely campervan and no wet dog smells in a confined space!

Wondering what flew onto and off of the airstrip, you ask? I googled St. David’s Airstrip, Wales, 1943 and discovered that Liberators as well as Halifax’s flew out of that airstrip. Squadron Bombers. A Halifax was shot down just off the coast by a German UBoat, which always surprises me. Don’t know why as the U Boats also crept up the Coast of the US and we all know how heavily the UK was hit by bombers. There are some brave men born every generation, but in some there were more born than in others. It seems to me that hundreds of soldiers were made of stronger stuff during WWII. I could be wrong but I think WWI was so brutal and demoralizing for all sides that the humor and the bravado was less frequent or less often reported but the boys fighting for the Allies, the British, the Scottish, the Americans, the Native Americans and the Canadians and more were filled with a compassion, fierce competition, a baudy sense of humor and as many guts as brain cells than during any other time. I wasn’t there but my father in law, my grandfather, a few uncles were. And I went to school with a handful of code talkers boys and the stories I heard about the deeds of so many men in varying units just amaze me. Why I am talking and reminiscing about something I know nothing about is a puzzle but when I was reading about the “accidents” that occurred at that airstrip (being shot down doesn’t seem like an accident to me but am guessing it wasn’t a smooth or even actual landing so I get it. But I could picture all those boys pouring out of all of the buildings and climbing into those planes to chase off the stray ship that snuck into enemy territory. They were probably more successful than not. So if you know planes, that’s what they said and you would know, first hand, about the bravery of the men who followed those soldiers and you are welcome to correct me if I am shortchanging the boys that followed the WWII soldiers.
We all owe a huge debt to all who fought in those wars and they were the salt of the earth. There are many amongst us now who are busy trying to destroy what they did for us. Trying to re-write our history and make us feel bad about who we are and where we come from. They need to be challenged at every opportunity.
