Just went back and watched YOYOKAs first appearance on Ellen. It's been a long time since I've seen it. Don't know if you've seen it or not but you can also see Akifumi and Rie in the audience. They look SO proud, and rightfully so. YOYOKA even takes a jab at Shido on national TV. It's hilarious.
Everyone everywhere needs to support YOYOKA to the best of their ability. But especially those of us in the U.S. They have talked offhandedly about relocating to the U.S. You have seen how many trips they have already made over here. I believe they think there will be more opportunity for her here. But you can imagine how expensive a move like that would be, moving to a foreign country, giving up their livelihood themselves in support of their daughter.. Especially with the cost of living in the U.S vs. Hokkaido. How cool would it be to fly to Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Miami, or Las Vegas, etc., to see our baby girl LIVE and maybe meet her! I'm joining her new $50/month level, hope others will do the same, or whatever the can afford. How can we not help such a COOL FAMILY!
I love Yoyoka and the Soma family to bits and do what I can with my limited means to support them, but I'm not convinced that a move to the U.S.A. is the best thing for them, I only discovered her because of my interest in Japan, Japanese music and a love of Led Zep, I doubt if the algorithm would have directed me to her if my interests were purely Stateside. I'm afraid that the "Monster"(Steppenwolf!) machine will just chew her up and spit her out tho' I sincerely hope I'm wrong. I'm innerested in other Yoyoka fan's opinions. Respect from the U.K.

I just think because of the massive population here vs. Japan, and the average "median disposable" income in the U.S. ($42,800) vs. Japan ($21,700), there are a larger volume of opportunities here. We just have more money to spend here than most countries. It will be a struggle, but as we all know, the Soma family is willing to put in the work! Not sure. I wish them the best of luck and will support them in whatever they decide. I know we all will do what little we can.

I had never heard this song before and wanted to see how Yoyoka made it her own and better thus ended up watching the unrated version! I think you have to be pretty naive to think Yoyoka’s parents are oblivious to the song’s intent (same with RATM content). Japanese culture like many others may not perceive these things as other cultures. My parents never censored myself and siblings from anything, nor did we with our boys. The fact that Yoyoka takes the opportunity to ‘censor’ the rap shit with amazing drum fills leads me to believe that awareness was present.
