- Collinsville Illinois sits only a few miles from the famed Cahokia Mounds and annually host the largest Indian artifact show in the WORLD at the Gateway Center. It has has a long reputation of hosting only the finest collections of genuine Indian relics. Here a person can leisurely take their time and stroll up and down the aisles gazing at magnificent prehistoric art with over 500 tables between the 2 rooms. March 10,11,12 2017 hosted the shows 30th anniversary. If a person loves early history and has a love for prehistoric native american Indian art and history, then this is a must on your bucket list. The show annually sees several thousand people from all over the WORLD

I live here in Collinsville. I can't begin to count how many arrowheads I found as a kid just to throw them back into the creeks/fields.. they were so common around here. We used to camp out up on top of monks mound... We also would snow sled down it. This is all before it became a world heritage site. The site was pretty much run down and overgrown with weeds
attended many of those shows. makes you hungry to find some
An absolute must attend event. So many different regions and types present it is almost ancient artifact overload. Make a day of it and visit nearby Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site- you will not be disappointed. My favorite case of the show @ 7:25

Creighton Workman yes it is the finest of its type and will not disappoint anyone who has never been it's a definite bucket list if one enjoys shows like this. It is even better to setup there and interact with the crowd. Great people and lifetime memories

I like the way you put this together. Movies at artifact shows do not do the relics justice and hard to follow as a viewer👍🏻

Besides the few men who dug the most famous sites in the country .. uninhibited mind you .. I dig the old names in the Providence but to think that any of the rest of us cannot command the same wealth in personal collections is horseshyt & im a Bennett😉 so i can say that ...kant fool carbon date👌

Good vid. Interesting stuff. I’ve never been to anything like that. I did love the typo at about the 1:50 mark. ‘Conventional’ center. I’m sure u meant convention center but that’s a funny typo. Makes it sound like whoever named it only wanted conventional events haha. Anyway...does anyone know of a way to find out if there is a similar event in the Mobile, AL area?
David Dranka if you go to central states archeological society's webpage you will find a calendar of events on upcoming shows in your state. Central states host numerous shows throughout the country. Another page you may find a list of shows on is Arrowheads.com which may have diff shows and dates as not all shows are affiliated with the central states archeological society, hopefully next year you can make it to Collinsville for the show. Was the best show in 31 years this past weekend.

Is the show just to look at artifacts and show off your collection? I don't see any evidence of anybody selling anything. At an antique bottle show it's all about buying & selling.
NCbottles yes this is a top end show. Best of the best for native american artifacts. Many upon many people from all over the United States come here to display, buy, sell, trade...if one is interested in this type of thing this is the one to go to. It will not disappoint. You will see everyone here from the average Joe that is new to the hobby all the way to the big names as well as archeologists to authors of native american books
