I have this watch. It’s excellent. Good quality case and strap and wears extremely well on my 6 3/4 in wrist. I placed a hydrogel screen protector on the crystal and it’s perfect now. I’ve knocked it many times with no marks or issues. It’s one of my go to watches as it has style, accuracy and low maintenance.
The original watch is thick because of how thick the movement is, but since the VK63 doesn't need such a thick case, I would make the homage thinner, because it would be an objectively better watch if it was thinner.
Saw the original worn by McQueen close up on display at Goodwood some years ago - a stunning piece I must say and with considerable security in it's presence as you would imagine. This Specht and Sohne does it justice visually, and one I will consider after your thorough review of the product.
Back in the day, it would bother me the lack of Sapphire on a watch, but the more I started to collect seriously I treated my pieces very carefully, and haven't had a scratch on my minerals so far. This one looks fine for a Monaco homage from China
I'm not sure about this brand, but they are definitely bringing out some interesting models. Their Santos and 222 have caught my eye, but I try to avoid really obvious homages if possible. Great review 👍
Great review. Not a watch design I would wear, however, my Don is an avid Formula One fan and he has a birthday coming up. Good timing on your review! 😉
I agree, should be sapphire crystal. At just above this price they have sapphire on their VC 222 homage and their Cartier Santos homage (both of which I own the auto versions of and they’re both very good!)
Pagani and Tandorio do sapphire crystals at the 50 dollar price point. I got a VK63 Pagani "Newman's Own" Daytona homage for about USD 50 (which came with neither a bottle of salad dressing nor a frozen pizza), and a Tandorio 39mm pilot with NH35A for USD 45, both with sapphire crystals! MAYBE this is only possible with mass manufactured round crystals though. The rectangular shaped one would be custom orders for a limited watch set, so that could well be the reason, why these just have normal glass.
I bought the so called standard, blue dial version some 6 months ago. I think it’s unbelievable value & was a water tester before I plunge into the real one! As for the hardlex, yeah sure sapphire would be better, but that price nullifies my wants. There are other brands on AliExpress with sapphire but up to 3 times the price. This one is a great alternative I reckon.😎👍🏼
Thanks for the review. I am really considering to buy this because I love Monaco and can't afford the real thing! Lol! But I have a question: Considering the model with VK63 movement, does the Date indicator window actually work or is it dummy? I have seen other watches with VK63 movement and they do not have a Date window. I appreciate if you let me know if the model you reviewed had the Date indicator actually working and not a dummy. Thanks.
I'd prefer sapphire, but I'd guess It's a cost issue here. I have a 6.5 wrist, and my square Orient chrono with same L2L size looks quite big on me. I suspect this one would as well, even more with the more quadratic shape than my Orient. Typical for square shaped cases to appear bigger on the wrist despite moderate measurements as here. A bit of a shame since it seems like great value, and I appreciate the colour variations to choose from. However, a perfect gift watch (I'm considering my brother who was pleased with the 44mm Orient Kanor I gave him for his 50th birthday, this might be a Christmas gift that works on his gorilla wrist lol). Great work as usual, keep up the good work.
I bought a much less expensive brand homage of the same watch and mine is terrible. I wish I had spent the extra money. BTW The original watch was also worn by Walter White in Breaking Bad. I have enjoyed collecting homages of movie and TV watches.
@@ShinyThings I learned that rectangular and square sapphire crystals, especially those with bevels, are quite pricey compared to the omnipresent circular crystals. They aren't cheap.

I like the screen protector suggestion 👍 Thank you for watching! 🙂👍

Enjoying your reviews. I’ve been looking at this watch on aliexpress for a while & found your review helpful.👍
Great! Thank you for watching! 🙂👍

It is a well put together chrono, especially for the price! Thank you for watching! 🙂👍

They do models that other brands don't and the prices are good too! Thank you for watching! 🙂👍
Glad you reviewed, was debating this watch.👍
Hope it helped! :-)
The sapphire crystal issue is deal breaker for me. Why wouldn't they put one on for £20 additional cost? Silly.
Great review.

Maybe a v2? Sapphire crystal and vk67 movement?

Gorgeous dial. Looks better than... the original, even? Great cinemography bro
Glad you like it! 🙂👍
I have three of these. Never had any issue with any of them. Great for the ££££
I'm undecided whether to buy it with leather strap or with steel bracelet, what do you recommend? Thank you...

And having dimensions matching the Tag gives a very good idea how a $6K Monaco will wear! Thank you for watching! 🙂👍
I live in Brazil and the TH Monaco is about BRL64K aprox USD13K, so I will go for this Specht and Sohne. (About BRL1k ~ USD200)

@alirezajohari8916 The date on this Specht&Sohne definitely works. Thank you for watching!

Thank you!
The Pagani Speedmaster homage has the VK63 with a fully functioning date complication.
Check out the INVicta s1 Rally which is also a homage to the monaco gulf edition
This looks great like the square case on it

Definitely awesome watch! Some misses..true..BUT☝️waaaay more hits! Great review once again Shiny! Thx 👌
Thanks for watching Wes! 🙂👍
Great review! Again! In my Ali basket. Again! 😅😅😊😊
😁
I have this watch but I cannot figure out the strap and clasp!
What's the secret?😊
Good review, thanks.
Thanks for watching!
I get why they stayed with the case thickness but it is one of two deal breakers for me, the other being the movement.
What movement would you rather see in this chrono?
@ShinyThings , a miyota 6S21 perhaps. Something without a 24-hr indicator. VK67 probably wouldn't be a good choice for this design.

@larryfromwisconsin9970 Thank you for sharing! 🙂👍
Can u please show us some santos homage pls
Hopefully soon! 🙂🙄
Nice watch and a good review. I'll buy based on your comments. Cheers
Thank you for watching! 🙂👍
Should say 'Better THAN the rest'.
Can't say I'm a fan of the design of this one.
I was sure that something just wasn't right 😁 Thank you! Fixed now! 🙂👍
A custom sapphire crystal in that shape - a not-so-common shape - is probably too cost prohibitive for a little homage brand from China.
Possibly, it is quite a large piece of glass.
