Quick correction!
For the show “Dinosaucers” I had mistakenly referred to Allo as the villain. When he is, in fact, a protagonist of the series.
Now that the show is on my radar, I hope to return to it again in future videos!
I can’t believe it took this long for Allosaurus to appear in the Jurassic films.
?
It appeared in fallen kingdom
@@squidwardnosewarts that’s what I meant. I’m surprised it didn’t appear in the franchise sooner.
The Isle's allo was my pride and joy when I was on the team. Fred made a perfect design and Bryan and I spent a lot of time getting the animations and aspects perfect
It's easily the best Allosaurus design in any video game, and one of the best in any media.
you guys did great when it comes to the allo. I miss playing it on packed servers, but I am excited to play it again when it finally comes out in evrima
I honestly had the idea that the POT allosaurus is smaller than its irl counter part (they have a skeleton in a nearby museum)
Dinonychus is as tall as a human in POT, Allo is quite big in that game.
@@WinterroSP all dinos are upscaled like 1.5x times and some of them are made even bigger for the sake of the game I suppose, Thalassodromeus for example is huge in this game even for that 1.5x standard.
@@Bleghspread most aren't upscaled 1.5x, but yeah thal is the biggest outlier, along with bars, eotrike, spino, sarco and a few others to a lesser extent
Before allo, that was going to be a torvosaurus, thats why is so big,but they decided to do the allo instead because it was a more popular and known dino
@@Bleghspreaddevelopers did say they weren’t going for 100% realism but some Dino’s being as big is just weird , sometimes .
Me personally, the Ballad of Big Al Allosaurus will always be THE Allosaurus for me. Jurassic World Evolution and Prehistoric Kingdom’s Allosaurus are also amazing designs.
The stop motion of Gwangi is incredible. Looks more real than a lot of modern CGI, the Eohippus in stunning
agreed, classic stop motion is awesome even when it doesn't look real.
Its a shame that stop motion is a dying art in filmmaking. Everything is CGI nowadays and has been for a while
@@tenyearsinthejoint1 even if they used, mostly are only for parodying something
Has anybody compared hand drawn animated dinosaurs to the ones made through CGI?
@@tenyearsinthejoint1 there are a decent amount of animated films that use stop motion. Not enough in my opinion but they are out there.
the Lost World (2001) Allosaur was also shown in Walking With Monsters, at the end where Euparkeria somehow evolved into Allosaurus lmao
It was, but also wasn't. The head is drastically different. And they use Big Al model the next shot.
@@user-qx8jo3ed9uWell they changed the allosaurus old model of Walking with Dinosaur.
I love The Isle's design. I remember the first time seeing it in one of Anthomnia's videos. It had this gorgeous orange color that reminded me of some of the male theropods from Dinosaur Planet. My favorite depiction of Allosaurus is from Path of Titans though, the fact that it has lips is what tipped the balance in its favor over The Isle's Allosaurus.
It was The Isle that made me fall in love with allosaurus. From a full realism server which had allowed a pack of them- then later bloodline realated only packs of the same number amount which were extremely aggressive towards one another.
My pack had existed for a couple of real life years. Generation after generations with ups and downs and legendary eras. It was so true and close to my heart that allosaurus became my favorite dinosaur alongside Shantungosaurus who'd earn their place simply by having a sentimental value and not visual favoritism.
Still can't believe i took an egg for next generation... parents gave us joke nicknames of Oogie, Boogie, and I was Banana... she led a amazing full life, earned her place as next dominant female and brought back our status of being a highly feared pack. One which would take on apexes just like our original roots. ♡
Reading this makes me wanna get back into The Isle, thank-you lol
To me the WWD Allo will always hold a spot in my heart. That may be why Allosaurus remains one of if not my favorite dinosaur.
One version of Allosaurus I wanna bring up is from a short film called Hell Creek, weird choice for a name given this is in the Jurassic not the Cretaceous but eh, this Allosaurus is notable for including small quill like coverings on the Allo's neck. Which as far as I know no other media has depicted Allo with any kind of covering. So it has that distinction. Plus their Allo display some bird like qualities like turning its head sideways to look at something below.
Honorable mention goes to the Allo from Dino Crisis 2
I remember having a tough time beating them back in the day but they were super cool and I liked the blue design too :3
I definitely don’t remember the design of the When Dinosaurs Roamed America Allo, but I will always remember its attack on the ceratosaurus.
Doesn't the Cerato scream like something out of a slasher film?
To bring up your comments about The Isle's Allosaurus. No it's not in Evrima yet, but it has been announced for it, they released a concept art for it in Evrima, and they basically confirmed that every playable from Legacy will eventually come back to Evrima. Except for Puertasaurus, that's being replaced by Brachiosaurus.
I do kind of wish you'd taken a look at its older Isle designs too. The classic Allo and the "Batman" Allo as people called it.
I think what surprises me the most is just how relatively recent the crests are implemented with the Allosaurus designs. I've always seen the crest on its head as iconic as the tail of a stegosaurus and yet even as recent as some 70s and 80s depictions we see Allosaurus's shown without them. It's crazy to me.
I grew up in the 8s and 90s. Do you know how I got to know Spinosaurus?
The When Dinosaurs Roamed America depiction is actually one of my personal favourites.
In addition, what you said about the Jurassic Fight Club design is how I feel about essentially all of the creatures in it. Their shapes and features are widely inaccurate but their colour palettes are surprisingly admirable.
Yeah, JFC's models are weird to say the least, but damn it, some of the colors and patterns almost redeem them. The male Majungasaurus, regardless of accuracy, is my favorite depiction of the animal, or at least in my top 3.
All of these are iconic, The Isle's allo is still great looking. My next favorite is the Path of titans one. Next for me would be big al, even though it looks terrible, it still gives me nostalgia. I agree with u, the life on our planet one was bugging me when i saw it. I saw more crocodile rather than eagle. Which i don't like at all.
For how often Allosaurus has shown up in media, we haven’t had a truly good depiction of it yet. Then again, it took PhP for Tyrannosaurus to be done Justice.
You did in fact miss one that I know of from a fairly obscure show my parents once showed me. The show is called ‘Sliders’ and it’s about people “sliding” between different alternate dimensions and visiting various versions of earth. In one episode the characters find themselves in a nature preserve for resurrected dinosaurs and spend most of the episode trying not to get eaten by an Allosaurus. If I’m not mistaken it’s the only dinosaur that they encounter too
I was kinda hoping it’d show up here, but I guess it’s just too obscure. Just thought I’d share the info
I’ll remember that!
16:25 fun fact this allosaurus model is actually a remodel of two older allosaurus designs back when the isle was in its progression days 2016-2018, one has spikes at the bak of its head and tip of its tail while the other has these huge long crest that looks like bunny ears and it has all these spikes running down its back.
Quick correction as I did watch some of the show. In Dinosaucers, Allo was the leader of the heroine faction. To make an analogy as such types of toys were popular at the time, he was the Optimus Prime of the group opposite the main villain whom was a Tyrannosaurus. If I recall correctly their was a device the heroes had to turn themselves back into the Mesozoic styled dinosaurs for a spell, but they are still themselves mentally, so that's why there was seemingly 2 designs for him. Love the video and the series so far, great work!
the interesting thing about Ark is the character in the lore that writes and draws the dossiers classifies all the dinosaurs as their own species
Dino Crisis 2’s Allosaurus was really cool, especially when you unlock it to play as after you beat the game.
I absolutely LOVE this series! Seeing how each dinosaur has grown throughout the years is awesome! Love Allosaurus too!
Allo from Dinosaucers is actually one of the main heroes of the show & the leader of the Dinosaucers team.
The villain is Ghengis Rex the T. rex of the Tyrannos group.
We’ve known the shape of Allosaurus’ skull since the diagram of aggregate material was released alongside Madsens osteology in 1977, so I’m not going to let early documentaries off the hook too easily. Especially because the skull of Allosaurus is highly aesthetic with a gentle elegant backwards sweep to it. It’s design in the Isle and to a lesser extent POT reflect this very well. It’s also why I don’t hate the LooP design because it nails the skull shape.
Jurassic World and a few other modern media entries use Big Al 2’s skull as a model, which is unfortunate because it’s been diagentically deformed to appear boxier and snaggle toothed. The adult Jurassic World allosaurus also has arms that are too small, which is a defining feature of the animal and is frequently undersold in its depictions.
Although most allosaurs come in between 20-30 feet, there’s multiple fragmentary specimens that indicate a much larger upper range to Allosaurus size. Saurophaganax is it’s own can of worms, but Bakker’s Monster of Masonville, Cope’s Epanterias, and a femur from Cleveland Lloyd all indicate an animal coming in at at least 11 meters and likely more. None of these specimens contain any diagnostic characters that would refer them to Saurophaganax, and are A. fragilis in all ways except their tremendous size.
I'm still not convinced Saurophaganax wasn't just an unusual Allo.
You should check out the trailers for the video game, The Lost Wild. Allosaurus looks terrifying in it, might be the main antagonist as well.
I can’t believe I forgot about that!
dont ever shorten your thoughts.... they are why i come here and listen while i work
Behaviour-wise my fave is The Ballad of Big Al's portrayal, design-wise, it's the ones from Dinosaur Revolution, Path off Titans and The Isle that are my favourites.
The isle v2 allo has been my favorite design of almost any therapod in games. It’s got a sleek elegance to it and the eyes remind me of a lion.
What about the Jurassic World Evolution 1 and 2 Allosaurus?? They had to do an Adult version of the Fallen Kingdm DLC Allosaurus for the game that looks really good, in JWE2 they change the position of the hands to more accurate.
Better than Universal's design, that's for sure.
There's also an allosaurus in the sound of thunder in the movie, but in the book it was T rex
WWD rendition is a little outdated but if we apply the colour scheme to modern interpretation it's going to be a stunner.
Imagine if the team behind Prehistoric Planet went out and do Jurassic-themed series...
My favourite Allosaurus design is Walking with Dinosaurs, especially The Balled of Big Al which made it my favourite Dinosaur. Allosaurus has appeared everywhere except for Prehistoric Planet and also fun fact, Allosaurus was Ray Harryhausen’s favourite Dinosaur. By the way you missed out a couple of other franchises, Allosaurus appeared in Dinosaur Train and although not the Animal itself but a fictional relative. There was a character in King Kong Eacapes called Gorosaurus who crossed over into the Godzilla franchise for Destroy All Monsters and he was a fictional member of the Allosaurus genus.
Hey its the Allosaurus from the Royal Gorge Regional Museum in Canon City! Fun video!
The Allo has always been my favorite. I love most of its modern designs. What I like most is the idea that its a sauropod hunter, similar to a lion hunting buffalo. Very few medias presented this though.
Can ye do one for Triceratops soon? (No rush!)
I hope you will also check out Paleo Pines. The dinos are designed to be really cutesy, but there's still accuracy and designing to be ogled.
You’ve missed “Planet of the Dinosaurs”, "Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores” and “Dinosaur Train” for their design interpretations.
Update: Saurophaganax is its own genus.
One unique characteristic that distinguishes it from Allosaurus is the Parasagittal lamina, Allosaurus doesn't have these. They also noted that the chevrons were different from Allosaurus. The chevrons near the middle of the tail of Saurophaganax turn into a more meat cleaver shape, which is seen in tyrannosaurs, which is in term believed to be a case of convergent evolution.
Saurophaganax was much larger than Allosaurus.
In one fossil bed, a whole group of them was discovered, which led some to believe it was a pack hunter.
Each individual has a name and is of different sizes:
Munchkin) dorsal vertebra 13
Skrymir) Chevron
Loki) dorsal vertebra
Jotun) 3-4 caudal vertebrae
Hati) tibia and fibula with astralagus and calcaneus
Skoll) tibia
Mimir) braincase
Baldrige) axis
Typhon) femur
Orion) two femora and tibiae
Fenris) D13; C4; femur; humerus; scapula; ungual; atlas; distal tibia fragment; radii; ulna; possibly a D4, pubis and tibia
Ragnarok) tibia fragment
Leviathan) dorsal vertebra 13; possible humerus
Scaling from Allosaurus, Fenris is about 5.3 metric tons. Leviathan is the TRUE giant of these specimens. The D13 of Leviathan is nearly the same size in Sue. That would result in a 12.8 meter, 8,300 kg Saurophaganax. Oh, and Saurophaganax MAY, in fact, be a basal carcharodontosaur.
Hoo boy, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs brought back memories of the Arcade game.
Yes, there is a comic (readable online, too), the Capcom game (maybe you can find it playable online, too) and the cartoon is even watchable on TH-cam.
I am so happy you did Fossil Fighters! I just wish you added Fran Sinclair from Dinosaurs.
Dino Crisis 2 had an allosaurus design that I think looks very cool
Allosaurus was also in Dino Crisis 2 and The Lost World: Jurassic Park ps1
I'm a little surprised you didn't review the Allosaurus from Jurassic World Evolution 2 but then again, the probably took the model straight from the movie and you covered that. Anywho, still a fun dino park builder if you're looking for that middle school nostalgia again!
Actually, they didn't. Allosaurus was first released in JWE1's Fallen Kingdom DLC, so Frontier had had to make their own design. The BABR/Dominion Allosaurus was released in JWE2's Malta DLC.
IMO, Frontier's design should've been the official adult Allosaurus. It actually looks like a grown up version of the Fallen Kingdom design without ripping off Papo's Allo figure.
Extra points to this video for mentioning Dinosaur King, Jurassic Park Builder and Jurassic World: The Game
I bet looking at the T. rex would take an entire week if Allosaurus was this long lol
Upset you missed Dino Crisis 2's Allo. Loved how it seemed to play with you rather than flat out attack
The allosaurus is the most iconic dinosaur out there are you can't tell me otherwise
Oh my god the frustration and sass at 0:22 caught me off guard😂😂😂😂 ahahaha great video!!
My take on the Allosaurus Saurophaganax thing is Allosaurus is like a black bear and Saurophaganax is like a grizzly bear.
Xenozoic Tales, otherwise known as Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, gave all the dinosaurs (slithers) strange names. An Allosaurus is called a cutter. The main character, Jack Tenrec, had a juvenile cutter named Hermes (he was basically like a half-tame attack dog).
Walking with Dinosaurs allosaurus is still my favorite
I remember watching Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. I don’t think it stayed on the air for long as I only saw one or two episodes, but even just watching it a few times it stuck with me. Cool, weird little cartoon
God damn! You even got Operation Genesis and Carnivores, you are really thorough with these videos!
The Allo saurus from Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter was supposed to be a raptor, due its texture file been named "Rptr73". But Action Forms decided to use the jurassic park build for the carnivores they decided to change its name to "Allosaurus".
Tbh my favorite Allosaurus is the Prior Extinction one, yet you maybe don't know the game but its Allosaurus looks pretty accurate and its roars sound like if it was a lion, what a pitty you didn't mention it.
PE's Allosaurus looks awesome (ignoring the current mastery skin; the old one looked better).
You forgot, the allosaurus that appears very briefly in Gravity falls
what episode-
In the words of TheGamingBeaver: When a Jurassic World: The Game creature hits level 40, "it goes complete peacock".
I watched Dinosaucers when I was a kid. Allo was the leader of the good guys, the bad one was (obviously the red T. rex). They were aliens. I think I remember the good guys has gizmos on their suit that could transform them in their dinosaur counterparts to avoid revealing their alien nature to the world (because a living specimen of Allosaurus was not weird), while the baddies had to use some kind of machine (question mark?). I haven’t seen a picture of this series in over 30 years, memories are fuzzy at best.
“You’ll often hear people call it a T. rex because this is a *fun* world that we live in!” - every paleo nerd about any large theropod ever
Finally I can sleep Happily that the Jurassic Lion gets a video 😌
I have pet filled lizards, and the dino they always like to watch is Allosaurs. I sometimes show them stuff on my iPad, and they enjoyed the hunt in Planet Dinosaur, as silly as that sounds.
Good god. The Isle's Allo, especially it's sound design, is S tier.
man, theres a throwback....Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. fuck yeah
aaa I clicked on this video so quickly when I saw this video, allosaurus is by far my favourite dinosaur, my favourite iteration being the isles allosaurus and the juvi one from jurassic world fallen kingdom!
You can find more about Cadillacs and Dinosaurs under its original title of "Xenozoic Tales" by Mark Schultz. It was renamed as Cadillacs and Dinos from the Xenezoic comic book series as more digestible title for the 90's animated series.
Hey! Awesome video, and thank you for the dinosaur king lore! It was a big part of my childhood, and so I’m glad other people have seen it too. I had no idea it was an arcade game first!
This is the second video I have watched. You do not disappoint. Subscribed.
Super glad ya covered this animal cuz Allosaurus is one of my top 5 prehistoric animals 2nd to Tyrannosaurus Rex.
torvosaurus from revolution is one of my favourites. The allosaurs appearing in 2001 tlw are very large and possibly meant to be epanterias or saurophaganax.
Saurophaganax in particular is considered its own species because not only the 3-4 metre size difference, but its further along in evolution with bone structure, its head is thicker, rounder, like a later carcharodontosaur- and the spinal column is thick and tall, half way towards looking like an acrocanthosaurus.
8:44 I feel like there's a movie reference to be made here.
I found a allosaurus video in my feed and was surprised to see fossil fighters be mentioned.
Good video BTW.
while I'm already very familiar with most of these I really enjoyed this video and I'm super excited to see more of this series! Will be checking out the rest of your videos :)), also should you ever run out of decently represented animals you could try and to it by group, for example you could have a video dedicated to "under-represented" chasmosaurines so you can cover PoT's eotriceratops or planet dinosaur's chasmosaurus
also in regards to PoT's allosaurus being too big, it may very well be adjusted in the future as metriacanthosaurus and camptosaurus had their sizes adjusted very recently
He mentioned part of the Tsuburaya Dinosaur Trilogy! Now let’s hope he finds out about Izenborg and Koseidon.
Allosaurus is such an aweosme dinosaur, and am so glad you made this video on it so cool ❤
My favorite allosaurus design will always be Land Of Lost from 2009, excellent design personally 👍.
The many interpretations of Allosaurus do share one thing in common:
They have never seen such bullsh*t before.
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs was originally a comic/game that became a short run of cartoons.
Yeah, I have to agree with you about Life On Our Planet’s design for Allosaurus being disappointing. Prehistoric Planet needs to make a season 3, and this time leave the Cretaceous Period and move the setting to the Jurassic Period so this dinosaur can be portrayed in its most accurate form ever.
There’s a guy who’s remaking Jurassic Park builder.
You are right that is very close to 100 years but it is about 98 years when Allosaurus first in Media
I think you’d really like the Jurassic World: Evolution Allosaurus design. It’s a very pleasing middle ground between the Fallen Kingdom design and the Battle at Big Rock one
i find it so interresting listening to this guy talk about these type of stuff because its so relatable to listen to him speak.
Admittedly, going in I had little hope that Allo from Dinosaucers would be on the list given the show's obscurity these days... Needless to say, my little heart sung! Thank you so much for the mention!
Not the villain, but the hero team's leader actually. :) Great vid! Thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the different interpretations of this awesome species!
It’s definitely something I want to check out now that it’s on my radar!
@@prehistoricchannel128 Oh, absolutely give it a shot sometime if you enjoy retro toons! :D It's a good blend of action and comedy with slice of life/sitcom vibes, and has some hilarious one-liners!!
@@prehistoricchannel128I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Allo from “A Sound Of Thunder” if you have seen it. It’s the 2005 movie.
Allosaurus was in an episode of Dr Who called Doctor who and the Silurians playing as the Silurians Guard Dog.
Allosaurus is my favourite dinosaur by far, my favourite depiction being someone's own interpretation of the baby from Jurassic World, making it look more similar to the one from the Isle. I'd credit the artist, but sadly I have forgotten their name.
Dinosaucers is a pretty unique show. The alien world Reptillon has numerous species on it and a scout ship exploring planets comes to earth, led by Allo, just to learn about the life here. Gengis Rex and his mob of Tyrannos (hired thugs) comes from all manner of origins and are seeking various ways to screw up life for the Dinosaucers and humans and make a profit off of it.
One of the most unique things is technology the Dinosaucers (good guys) have is the ability to "dinovolve". By using a unique function on their body suits, they can metemorphos their body into was is essentially their feral counterpart, complete with all the size and strength that comes with it, but only for a short period of time. That is where the "outdated" feral allosaur model comes from.
But yeah, Allo is THE lead good guy and they even have the episode where they return home to show JUST how good a guy he is as he has a wife and daughter he is more than happy to come home to.
But yeah, just look for the Dinosaucers Opening, it'll give a rundown of what the plot is.
I just noticed the Giganotosaurus figurine on the shelf in your background and I am delighted because I have the same one!! (I named her Janet)
Fell in love Jurassic Park. Operation Genesis' Allosaurus, love the reds
First time seeing one of your vids and I enjoyed it Im cooking and when u said the video its almost over I was like wth no way 22 mins went that fast
man oh man i miss Jurassic Park Builder I'm quit you and have played it for most of my life and is the most nostalgic thing on earth
Forgot the most important time Allosaurus appeared: Calvin & Hobbes when they built a Time Machine out of a cardboard box
This is a great series, would love to see you take on sauropods in future. Brontosaurus/Apatosaurus & Brachiosaurus seem to be the most common, though Diplodocus has an interesting evolution too.
For Land Before Time it was most likely an animation issue. Altiori made a series covering all of the movies and the was a massive animation problem in the series
A Lystrosaurus video would be great, love the content!
Very cool vid. Man, I would watch that Dinosaucers cartoon early on Sunday mornings. Allo is the leader of the Dinosaucers (good guys), and the bad guys were the Tyrannos led of course by a Tyrannosaurus. They had weapons and whatnot that when would devolves back into regular dinos. Both groups had a variety of dinos in them.
I want Jurassic Park builder back too, it just had that classic JP feeling that the newer Jurassic World games and movies lack
You don’t need ti be worried about rambling. That’s what I’m here for
1956's The Beast of Hollow Mountain featured an allosaurus. this was the first attempt at valley of gwangi, but they didn't have the budget for additional dinos. willis o'brien (who did the stop motion for king kong 1933) originally was going to call his proposed cowboys vs. dinos film the The Valley of the Mists, but dropped it to work on mighty joe young. o'brien did not work on beast of hollow mountain. ray harryhausen would do the stop motion for valley of gwangi. some say 1918's ghost of slumber mountain fetaures an allosaurus; others say it it a tryannosaurus rex. sound of horror 1966 fetaures a dino that is invisible for most of the film due to a lack of funding, but when the animal is briefly seen in outline i believe it to be an allosaurus.
Cadillacs and dinosaurs is also known as xenozoic tales by mark Shultz! The artwork of his comics give far more appealing look to the beast!
Dinosaurs Combat of Giants DS has a very unique Allosaurus design. If you ever do a “Titanosaur” video the game also has a unique “Titanosaurus” design
1:42 it's funny how you called them tail draggers while showing a clip of Gwangi not dragging his tail.
