My parents were like that, as long as I communicated, there wasn’t much I wasn’t allowed to do. And my Dad told me, if I wanted to drink, he’d rather I drank with them at home.
Yup, my parents would laugh at me for getting in trouble. When adulthood came, it created a friendship relationship with my parents instead of authority which is pretty healthy.
And Stanley Tucci is very sexy in this movie as well. It’s a common trope in most teen movies to desexualize the parents to keep the focus on the teens but I like that they didn’t do that in this movie. Emma Stone is gorgeous so it makes sense for her to have gorgeous parents.
"I GOT A POCKET GOT A POCKET FULL OF SINSHINE" and "YOU BETER KNOCK ON WOOOOOOOOD" are hands down the bests scenes along with "OH RATS" hehhe they whole movie is great

Love how chilled her parents are. When i was in sixth grade a classmate was bugging me and i called her "lesbian", my mom gave me a speech on how rude and unappropiate i acted.
She did it twice and it was explained on the behind the scenes. It just mean she gave her little brother the okay got on the chair and read it, and the next time she did it was in the cafeteria letting the teen boy to drip his lunch tray!

This movie is great and this scene really showed it perfectly. The family's warmth, shared wit and humor. We feel connected to them organically.
