Thank you so much for all this work you are undertaking. It has always been such a joy to be able to see these wonderful clips and videos and it's so good to see them again. I believe it's such a huge contribution to our understanding of dance history that you bring us these films of the great dance legends of the past.
The first soloist - Nina Gruzdeva-Sanina, the second one - Irina Kolpakova, the third one - Olga Moiseeva, the fourth one - Tatyana Udalenkova. As Udalenkova told me they had got this pas de quatre from A.Dolin during the tour of the Kirov ballet of Canada and filmed in the old TV studio in Leningrad. Кому
thanks so much for referring me to iskander21024 who was so kind as to reply so quickly - it was really wonderful when the film is so grainy, identification can be quite tricky thanks again
hi AL45757 thanks so very much for those most kind words - believe me, they are appreciated, particularly in this time of difficulty of trying to re-construct the channel again - your words enthuse me not only to re-upload what i had on the old one but find new things to put here thanks so much again
ok so Kolpakova is right in this list but not the others i seem to remember it taking a while last time to sort out the cast - but as you say iskander21024 might help out - i've just left a message in the 'discussion' section of her/his site
hi iskander21024 thanks so much for replying and so quickly - very good of you and much appreciated i'll add the cast to the 'Notes' attached to the video and acknowledge your help, if that is ok cheers from Sydney
hi Numberone filmfan i think they are two different versions - the 1968 one i uploaded first has that cast you mention PS thanks for taking the time to note it down and send it - it's really appreciated very much :)
Could it be this one? Pas de quatre (1968 ; ca. 14 min. ; b&w) / choreography, Anton Dolin ; music, Pugni ; danced by Yelena Yevteyeva [Evteeva] (Fanny Cerrito), Gabriella Komleva (Carlotta Grisi), Lubov Galinskaya (Marie Taglioni), Ludmilla Kovaleva (Lucille Grahn)
hi oldoperafan as i was just saying to Bnesque, i have a cast list that was included in one video i have of 'Pas de Quatre' (not sure if it is with this one or not) - Kolpakova, Konleva,Evteeva and Mezentseva - i think Kolpakova is right - how bout the others - any clues?
Kolpakova's signature elegance is here and she had that fake blonde in 60s. and i believe Galina and iskander21024 backed up my judgement. also remember when i said Moyseeva, rbv responded it's Iskanderova, they sort of looked alike back then, but iskander21024 came in and confirmed it's Moyseeva. so many he said-she said-memory here. asking is better.
hi Bnesque thanks for that - i have a cast list that was included in one video i have of 'Pas de Quatre' (not sure if it is with this one or not) - Kolpakova, Konleva,Evteeva and Mezentseva does this sound right to you? certainly Kolpakova heads the cast.
SORRY, SORRY, SORRY DO NOT LIKE THIS RENDITION......JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE ORIGINAL PICTURE DOES NOT MATCH (The best so far is the one done in London in 1964 with Alicia Alonso)
What a wonderful contribution to our knowledge of dance and dance history are your video clips! Thank you ever so much!!!
my pleasure - and it's amazing what can be found that one didn't know was preserved on film.
Браво! Виват Советскому балету!!! Богинюшки💞🦋💎💞💜

thank you for helping us again. your experience and knowlege are our treasure.
Thank you John Hall for sharing these precious old ballets and information about it. I feared they had been forgotten.
hi Joana
glad to help, with so many others, to make these old films generally available!
cheers
It is great to see Udalenkova - how honoured her Vaganova students are to have her as there teacher.
no, how could i forget about great Tatyana Udalenkova? i'm so humbled.
this is extraordinary
Lovely. Thank you.

thanks again
She is one of the best teachers at Vaganova!
thanks for telling me about her - my ignorance sometimes astounds me!
:)
not at all - i was so touched you got in contact so quickly and helped out - very generous of you
so thanks again!
of course, who can confirm this cast is iskander21024. all i remember is Grisi is Kolpakova and Cerrito is Moyseeva.
hi Pearlaceous
and i was so interested to see Udalenkova perform - she was someone i knew only by name.

Tatyana Udalenkova was Lisa Macuja 's mentor! And Ballet Manila as well!
hi iskander21024
thanks so much for replying and so quickly - very good of you and much appreciated

I think this is distinct from the 1968 version, posted by Nick earlier this week.
hi Christopher
isn't it!
and a nice companion to the 1968 version i just uploaded.

How absolutely tiny their pointe shoes were! Especially narrow at the bottom!

absolutely, no Evteeva or Mezntseva here. Mezntseva probably just entered Vaganova academy at this time.

i agree - not reproducing things well can damage them
@@JohnRaymondHall I find this rendition is most interesting and an important document. Thank you for uploading it.
