Thanks a lot Sir for the nice historical lesson. Congratulations for the exciting collection! I wish you all the best. Regards from Lower Bavaria, Patrick
so here I am in Australia being aware that New Jersey is being hit hard by WU flu and thinking to my self -wonder what Mr Whittmann is doing , I bet he is putting some dagger or collection vid from home so I click on the channel and here we all are !
What a great video I recently wrote about my fathers collection in your last video I can’t wait to go and check out his s/A dagger. Thank you for your great videos
Great video Tom!! You mentioned the flattened ball on the bottom of alot of SA daggers. They didn't get there by dropping them, etc. The got there by banging them on the tables in beer halls to let the servers know their steins were empty and needed refilling. Additionally, a person interested in this history has to understand these sa guys were thugs, street brawlers that banged heads with the communists and anyone opposed to Hitler. At night they would gather in the local beer hall. Most of them were right handed which freed up their left. Well if you notice, their daggers were all worn on their left! They would not wait till their steins were empty so with their left hand they would unhook their dagger and bang them on the tables to get the beer maids attention. Now when you find a dagger with a flattened ball, buy it! Also Rohm, their leader got those facial scars from dueling. Watch the 1972 movie "Cabaret" and it will give you a good insight how they operated.
@@Amarikita The short answer to your question is I was told the story by a person who lived over there during those times at a local gun show back in mid and late 60's. Thank you for your interest and question.
Thank you so much .......I''m already suffering from gun show and real gun auction withdrawal.....BTW The Kaiser and his family officially disowned the son who joined the S.A. and wouldn't have anything to do with him -- the royal family and others called him the " Little Brown Sausage"
I would love to learn more, where can I find a link to your books or anywhere to gather more information on the hobby. I found your website and subscribed!

Mr Witmann in case you are interested in having OE SA dagger in collection I could help you. Not in perfect condition but lower serial number than on these on photographs.
Just a suggestion Mr Wittmann, but I would love to some of your rarest grubbe marks and rarer makers of standard early daggers. I have an OM stamped Jos Schlimbach and would love your knowledge... Thank you.
In your first video on the same subject you clearly stated that the scabbards were not anodized but rather finished in the same manner as "bluing" ( because they are not aluminum ). Yet, in this newer video you refer to the finish as being anodized. Can you confirm which one is correct ?
Jeremy Brooks by red do you mean like a rusty brownish-red? If so then yes. Mr. Wittmann has one posted on his website for sale. I believe the maker to be Puma if I’m correct
Thank you Mr. Wittmann

Haenel is still going as a gunmaker, it is name Merkel factory uses for some of their firearms .
Have you ever seen an sa dagger with a red lettering inscription
Jeremy Brooks by red do you mean like a rusty brownish-red? If so then yes. Mr. Wittmann has one posted on his website for sale. I believe the maker to be Puma if I’m correct
I have a slight reddish tinge on my Jos Schlimbach SA dagger if you hold it a an angle 🤔
more good information , thank you Tom. would like to see a video on Hitler youth knives and , or gravity knives. thank you
Hi Tom, is an SA Reference book still in the works?
I’m wondering if the current economic crisis will see a reduction in price of militaria or perhaps an increase?
What about the Hitlerjugend Daggers?
It gives a lot of collectors.
Especially the Gebietsführer Daggers.
