I thought the same thing about the Alice show! I thought Sophie had saved it & Alice was going back after she found the cat! I had no idea what was going on. I was all proud of Sophie for taking charge & pulling it off, then WTF?
I loved the exchange when Alice told Dani & Sophie “they didn’t know what it was like back then”. For sure. I lived it. As a working professional in a large corporation during that time, I had to be totally in the closet.
Agree the casual GenQ viewers don’t know the history of Bette & Tina nor or they inclined to learn. Sure would have been nice if they had included footage/dialogue that explained their history and why their simple proposal/engagement was appropriate.
Kate did a great job of directing. Especially the Tasha reveal. Their dialogue/on-screen chemistry is great.
Are you actually serious? Now there actually may not be a wedding because the decision makers may choose to cut these scenes? If that happens, there may be riots in the streets!!

Having watched the interview jess had with MLR, sepi's departure definitely had something to do with her

If it was an HR issue, I am like drugs or harassment. They way they isolated Sepi leads me to believe it was something other than a disagreement betw ppl.

That clip of Alice I feel was basically the showrunner stating how she feels with Alice's words and some of Sophie's.

After watching Jess interview MLR I understand the direction the show has been going in and where it's going. I think it's rude that nothing was explained about Gigi. What a disrespect to the actor and the character.

And the entire show, tbh. She could’ve used the wealth of knowledge and experience from the people around her (Ilene, JB, Kate, Leisha, etc) who could’ve helped her when, as she admitted, “she didn’t know what she was doing”, but she didn’t. She just doubled down on her mistakes and ran it to ground.

@@lesliephillips3980 I thought she said Shane directed Episode 9 and 10 but not sure. But you're right. she had a wealth of knowledge to draw on. The characters have superficial flaws and not acted out in depth like those on the OG. For instance, Jenny, mosted hated her because of not just what she did, but the emotional subtext behind it. The characters in the original had depth and we knew them, we understood them. Not so after 3 seasons for most of the Gen Q characters. And the OG characters in this reboot struggle to find what they are trying to portray it seems. It's disappointing and I'm a big Alice fan, she's my favorite. If Tasha and her get together that's the only reason I will watch anymore.

@@marycooney2194 Shane directed episode 3.09 and Alice is directing episode 3.10. You are spot on with your observations. I listened to the Pants Pod today and apparently they (GenQ/Showtime?) cut out some cute material between Alice & Shane. That’s really disappointing, just like so many other things. I hope things go well between Alice & Tasha.

Just as Alice explained herself during the TV interview in season 5, so she should have explained herself today. Of course, she should apologize for the scene in the movie theater with Joey Lauren Adams, the character who served no purpose. Daryl Brewer, no apology is due. If he wanted to stay in the closet forever, that's his business. I get that his defense was he had felt he had to make homophobic slurs to cover his own secret, but it was disgusting. Talk about the privilege of fame.
