I'm very confused by this version. The main part of the song was recorded in the key of G major, but they are singing it a 1/2 step higher or in the key of C# major? Same with the chorus change or modulation at the end. This is 1/2 step higher than even the recorded version. This is very interesting given that the vast majority of the time from 1986 to present they tune everything a 1/2 step down to give their voices a break. But actually tuning it a 1/2 step up..wow??
Could be with the audio of this recording. It may be sped up a little bit or somehow the pitch was changed. I really can’t see them tuning everything up 1/2 step. That would be ridiculously hard even for Jon.
He did this high notes just a few times. The consequences of doing this: you'll ruin your voice like him. I tried to sing this high note, but I said for me, it is too dangerous.
@Zoram14 madison square garden 2008 is not their best concert!! The version of prayer from the concert is good but they could sing the key change back in the 80's
Seriously? He is 50 years old! Todays versions are better. I've seen them in Lisbon 2011 and it was the best concert of the tour. Livin' on a prayer may not be the same, but he doesn't fail keys as he used to do. They're better, playing and singing. Waiting again in Lisbon...:)

@Epic Terry when I hit puberty at around 10 my voice went deep and my vocal range went down. After a year of practicing, I got a bigger vocal range from before reaching f2-f5# (male) so pretty much, you just gotta practice and you can get it back

Maybe Klaus has better vocal technique and did a better job taking care of his voice throughout the years. +Hooper Crookedtrip Chen Levin This is objectively half a tone higher, that's not even a question. However, it's only higher because there was some problem with the tape recorder that caused it to play everything back slightly higher. Bon Jovi sang this in the original key at this performance.
