I've been hanging out for this one ever since the original Brad video. The 2 up Sprint was closer than the flying 200 - clearly Brad is growing after even just a few more laps experience. Well done Brad, and thanks for being such a great sport.
A flying 200 requires experience as well. You don't want to gass yourself before the lap even started, but if you start too slow it's gonna cost you a lot of time. That and holding a line while going all out is pretty darn difficult if you've never been on a track before.
Brad is an outstanding person for putting himself into an uncomfortable position 2x. Really like his willingness to explore his capability. Couple of weeks on the track and he could be winning quite a lot.
I think this specific bodybuilder vs track cyclist episode has been helpful in emphasizing how lifting heavy (either using a bodybuilding or powerlifting based scheme) does have net positive effects on cycling! Even without training, Brad put out good power there which was I presume because of the strength he developed in the weight room. Anecdotally, I can also say that cycling to work often has helped me recover faster from heavy lifting and the gym. Which means better strength progress and therefore better cycling as well! It’s a perfect match, in my experience!
Huge respect for Brad- first the incline challenge and now this. He knows he won't be able to beat these pros, but he still turns up. He's a humble lion!
You need both riders on the same bike, pro needs to get on the same general track bike in future, I'm sure Oli would have something to say about aero gains advantages!

What bikes are they using? Looks like a pro time trial bike vs a regular road bike. I would like to see them both on the same bike. Supper impressed with Brad for only his second time on the track.
Exactly what I thought. The pro time trial bike had *deep wheels* and a *narrower bar*, making it much more aero. Also The bodybuilder has much more *upper body area* to block the wind, so also much less aero there. The wheels and tires alone would be enough to justify those few seconds difference...right?! or am I wrong? To be honest, I was shocked/impressed with the results, since the bodybuilder would typically not have so much slow twitch fiber muscles as the pro rider that trains very specifically for that purpose, every day.
@@gcn Yes I did. I really enjoyed that video too. Would GCN consider doing a Beginner vs Amateur vs Pro on some of the most challenging climbs of the TDF or Giro. It would be fascinating to watch.
I'm a casual road cyclist and getting on the bike at the start of last summer, even after just a few months of lifting (for the first time) I was amazed at how much more powerful I was on the bike. You only need to look at the leg size of elite track cyclists to see the benefits strength training can bring.
This was brilliant! I would love to see Brad on the track more. I bet he'd really excel with some good practice. If not some track, maybe some Zwift races like the tiny series where his big power could be put to use on these very short races.
Great sports, both of 'em. I reckon if Harvey were to work with Brad, we'd see some astonishing results. I'm genuinely curious what a powerful guy like Brad could really do on the track. Harvey is certainly no slouch himself, so it'd be instructive to see how different body types handle the rigors of sprinting.
Come on GCN, you know that the two bikes were leagues apart and that we would always expect a pro to win doing what he does for a living. The idea is good good but the content is for the arm chair enthusiast
Would love to see a Zwift race with Greg Doucette. He's an pro body builder & powerlifter, and he actually is a Zwift rider as well, for the last few years I think
I am not too sure if that is a fair race with a lot of differences between their equipment and body weight plus the strength. Perhaps, if Brad was a bit lighter with exceptional lower body strength (legs power), with an aerodynamic bike with carbon wheels and some training or practice. He could possibly match with a pro-cyclist. Wouldn't you agree?

@@gcn Yes I did. I really enjoyed that video too. Would GCN consider doing a Beginner vs Amateur vs Pro on some of the most challenging climbs of the TDF or Giro. It would be fascinating to watch.
not fair, put Brad vs Ollie ;) and yeah in the 1km effort!
I'm a casual road cyclist and getting on the bike at the start of last summer, even after just a few months of lifting (for the first time) I was amazed at how much more powerful I was on the bike.
You only need to look at the leg size of elite track cyclists to see the benefits strength training can bring.
It certainly is a beneficial form of training!
Now give Harvey the Eurobike and do it again 😀
This was brilliant! I would love to see Brad on the track more. I bet he'd really excel with some good practice. If not some track, maybe some Zwift races like the tiny series where his big power could be put to use on these very short races.
😋💪
I love how he delivers his thigh size like he’s telling him a relative died
Great sports, both of 'em. I reckon if Harvey were to work with Brad, we'd see some astonishing results. I'm genuinely curious what a powerful guy like Brad could really do on the track. Harvey is certainly no slouch himself, so it'd be instructive to see how different body types handle the rigors of sprinting.
I think Brad's got potential in sprint races. Give a couple of months to enhance his riding skills and I'm pretty sure he's going to win some races.
I'm not sure the amount of gear he's on would be allowed in actual races?
This may be the best a GCN kit has ever looked! Now those guns are loaded!
Come on GCN, you know that the two bikes were leagues apart and that we would always expect a pro to win doing what he does for a living. The idea is good good but the content is for the arm chair enthusiast
Who would win? Someone specifically trained in a sports discipline, or someone who lifts weights. Yes. This is rhetorical.
Still fun to watch though
Glad you enjoyed it! Brad still smashed it 💪
@@gcn even though the result was predictable, it was surprising how close it was!
Would love to see a Zwift race with Greg Doucette. He's an pro body builder & powerlifter, and he actually is a Zwift rider as well, for the last few years I think
Love this video! What a great guy Brad is… and his legs are bigger than my waist 😂😂😂
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! If you like track content, you might like our velodrome film over on GCN+ 👉 gcn.eu/velodrome
Put them on a watt letter to measure peak power production next time! The last video I think Brad hit 1.9kw which is crazy
I believe brad last name is Tadokoro🔥
That was sick mates!
