Man am I happy you made this channel! You are so real for that bc as a regular viewer and casual pogo player now, sometimes the grind is tiring. And I don’t find reason to play. But watching you and your personality helps me open the app again. It’s refreshing to see a content creator take a step back and talk about these important things (eating good, mental health, pushing through, etc) thx Brandon!!!!

These behind the scenes videos are super interesting, thanks for sharing!
Careers evolve over time, and going towards what gives you enthusiasm is natural. Listen to that part of yourself, and you’ll be drawn to what gives you purpose, and that engagement will make the rest of the business flow.
Mystic rips TH-cam could be more team member focused, since it’s more than just you. Delegating and having employees on camera takes time and trust, but eventually managing will become more natural. And look forward 8 more years…where do you want to be?

Bro, I actually wish you would do more videos like this for you just talking and being yourself maybe even a podcast would be kind of cool and then have guest that play. Pokémon that are good at it like me, My Son mostly My Son I gave him all my Pokémon cards from the 90s when it first came out And now he collects and we have God I want to say maybe 15,000 cards and I’m not exaggerating when I say that and yeah he’s got he has a lot of fun with it even collecting I probably got oh God I didn’t even know I sold some cards for like four $500 on Mercari but we try to keep most of them so that one day he can sell them but maybe think about doing a podcast I come on I’ve been to California once I’m on the East Coast but I’ve been playing Pokémon once again since literally the day came out I was in middle school I think six grade and I had a game boy and it was in black-and-white and yeah, I’ve been playing ever since I’m now 38 years oldand I’m like a big kid and I don’t care. I have two kids in high school and I have one kid in elementary school and I’m married so normal people like me still play the game and we’re actually gonna be going to New York City one event this summer again we did it last year and we had a lot of fun for an hour drive from our house from New Jersey anyhow, just an

Brother, you're doing fine. What you have going on is miles ahead of so many others. There's nothing wrong with using the presence you've built over years to be the face of Mystic Rips. People like watching you open packs for so don't completely move away from it. Maybe just gradually add more videos including the employees and day-to-day behind the scenes of what makes the business run, i.e. showing new orders, shipments and whatnot. Also, advertising on the channel is kind of a "must", so don't be afraid to do it from time to time.
Another thing- having a successful youtube channel to help bring in spending power to the company is a dream come true, for real. I know you're working out the kinks, but it's a powerful tool. I've been grading/selling cards on eBay since 2020 and can only imagine where the business would be with a channel like yours. Cheers, dude.

I honestly love these vlogs Brandon. Being able to get your insight on the business side of things for your channels and seeing how you manage all these different entities is very fascinating. Def keep this up! Additionally, my mom is a business owner (owns her own gymnastics studio) and has several full time employees. Her biggest advice to me (I'm also an aspiring entrepreneur) is to value your workers over all else. Even if you're taking a small profit hit here or losing some revenue there, always keeping your employees as your top priority is always going to give you the biggest peace of mind. My mom always says that it starts with the people, then worry about money second. Hope this helps a little bit. I know you're going to be successful at whatever you decide to do (you're already are heading in the right direction). Also, would love to see a video on this channel where you have an interviewer picking your brain even more on the business side of things on TH-cam and the MYSTIC Rips side of things too. Anyways, hope you have a great day Brandon and can't wait to see the vlog tomorrow!

I’m so glad I found this channel! You’re one of the best Pokemon Go players on TH-cam, and it’s so inspiring to see how much work goes into your content. Your grind is incredible!
As far as Mystic Rips, I’d personally prefer if the videos stay more about pack openings and personality. I understand that the business part is important, but I think a big part of why your content has been successful on Mystic7 and Mystic Rips is that people like to watch YOU. The more the Mystic Rips channel grows, the more that people will hear about your business.
The most important part is to keep going - and have fun! The videos are exciting to watch because we like to watch you having fun opening packs, catching Pokémon, or whatever else you’re doing. Keep up the great work, Brandon!

Have been running a couple businesses over the past few years myself and a lot of the things you are saying really resonate with me! Even with something like a game that from the outside seems like an insanely lucky way to make money can still drag on and be tedious and not spark joy. I am right there with you in this season of figuring things out.

I’ve seen some of your videos in the past where you’ve talked about your mental health. I’m getting the vibe that your responsibilities are really hard to manage on a day to day basis and it might be affecting your work. Pokémon is supposed to be something fun - you’ve made it your job and now a business. I commend you and your work ethic but I sincerely hope at the end of the day you still have fun and get back to a good head space. You’re doing great. From my POV, the viewer. I am more than happy with your work and progress. Thank you for your hard work.

The answer for me is TH-cam livestreams, this has proven very successful for Pokérev and I always used to watch his livestreams when he wasn’t as HUGE as nowadays, but the point is he really built a community around him with him being a personality and people got to know his business aswell. I honestly think that whatnot and tiktok are WAY to limited in terms of building a community and getting viewers....

I understand how you feel with pokemon go after the Sinnoh tour. That would have been a massive project for you planning and shooting all those videos. It’s the same in any industry when you finish a big project. You need to take the time to refresh and that could mean taking a step back to re-focus before moving forward with the next project. Been loving the behind the scenes videos. I’ve never collected pokemon cards before but I’ll be getting some from Mystic Rips to start my collection on payday.

Really like these vids dude. Has to also pretty cathartic for you which I think is great. In terms of style on the rips channel, I think you should really just consider a hybrid or combination style. People like to go there for you and your rips, but including behind the scenes actions and other elements of the business make the personality side of it that much more human if that makes sense. Blessings bro

Will watch them no matter the path the video take. One style of filming I always liked for business/ entertainment was how Round Two Vintage use to do their video about 7 or 8 years ago on TH-cam. Granted they are physical shops but show off the cool stuff, sometimes a small history lesson, and show more of the others then just checking in on how things are going. If you have guest helping out with rip streams and they're willing do a small pre or post stream clip with them.

I think this is fantastic that you talk about real life things man. The other channels have a lot of "personality" that you may not be truly feeling at that moment so it is cool to see the insider view. I've started watching all your channels for this type of interaction and the personality that you bring so this channel is probably a favorite of mine.

  • @Roadrunner-37

Brandon I do have some feedback about your question. I personally believe you should have the TH-cam channel lean more in to the other parts of the mysticrips business. I think one of the most important factors right now is to try and break profit and advertising other parts of mysticrips might just do the trick. I mean, I didn’t even know about the business when I watched Pokémon card videos on that channel. I feel like you have the right community you just need to introduce them to the other side. Anyways you’re doing great and I hope to see more content
Edit: I also don’t think you will be annoying that many viewers because so many other big content creators plug their own businesses. Look at Mr. Beast with feastables and that other guy whose name I can’t spell with Pizzify. I think it’s worth the risk and if it does’t work out the maybe scrap it

I think this is a cool vlog style channel, ive been watching the pogo channel since 2019 or 2020 and it has always created a feeling of positive energy so it is cool to see the more real side of you and how you deal with a lot of those little things like motivation and lifestyle.

    @MusicSparkleStar09 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Wow, this video had so many interesting points! To touch on a few (maybe not in order anymore sorry!) -
    - When it comes to advertising on your own channels, that should never be a problem for the majority of your audience. Your brand is a part of you. I haven't spent much time on the Rips channel (I'm mostly around for the PoGo and now life stuff), but it seems like you have an already well established skill set in incorporating other folks (in this case your friends/employees) into videos due to all of the PoGo collabs. To borrow from a few other comments I'm seeing here, it could be beneficial to have those folks sometimes appear in the Rips videos - not on their own but alongside you, and also to offer some degree of "behind the scenes" of the business - maybe not as much as you do here, but adding in some background elements should help the "ads" to feel more organic. Besides, it's your own business - you're not doing a cold read for an outside sponsor, so the way you integrate talking about the business could easily be more casual and offhand throughout the videos. No matter how entertaining, many of us have keyed in to when a creator is doing an ad bit because their cadence, demeanor, often changes (some folks will do things like swap clothes and/or setting so it's obvious as well, and some even put chapters in the video so it's easier to FF through ads). If you're sprinkling info about the Rips business into the video casually and small amounts at a time (unless there's a larger announcement to have at the end or midroll break or something) it's not going to feel forced or breaking the immersion. Especially if the personality of the business is part of the channel, not just your personality. If that makes sense! YT is definitely shifting more towards the authenticity side once again, so if you lean into that, I think it would be received well.
    - Huge props for the introspection of realizing you're not at your best every day and exploring why you are feeling a certain way! Most people may not realize, that can be a difficult skill for humans, and it's very healthy to continue working on. Mindfulness does not just mean sitting around meditating or doing yoga. It's ok to keep giving yourself grace on the days that are more challenging!
    - I can't imagine the pressure that those of you who create PoGo content as a job feel. For the rest of us, we might feel a bit anxious or guilty if we miss playing as much as we usually do, especially if it's a primary motivation to get out and walk for our health, but we don't have the same concern about that affecting our livelihood. I'm sure there will come a day when the game is no longer viable for most creators to cover as a singular focus, even if it's a few years from now, so it is good that you have diversified and do not have to rely on it as the singular source of income.
    - It is so cool to see you using your success to lift your friends up alongside you! Welcome to the Rips family to Adam! I haven't spent a lot of time watching Adam or Tom on their own channels, but I'm familiar with them both because of their friendships with you and Nick. It is heartwarming to see how PoGo has truly fostered a lot of longtime friendships within the creator community. If nothing else, the game gave us that and that is valuable beyond words. I know there are plenty of non-creator local communities around the world and even international communities through PVP, raiding, etc. that have seen this benefit as well.
    - I haven't been a manager myself, but from a lot of observation, and experience on the other side, here's my take. Not everyone will be at their best under one singular management style. Some folks like to have a lot of touchpoints and feedback about their performance, some people are more comfortable with a hands off approach as long as they are accomplishing their goals and will see it as a sign of trust to not be bothered, for example. I'm sure there are more! Getting to know each employee's preferences goes a long way towards ensuring they feel treated like a valuable human. Since you are so small still, this isn't a real challenge - a great leader knows how to do all of the jobs of the folks they are overseeing, so that if someone needs to take off they can help cover, but also because having a real understanding of what it takes to do each task means the leader will have an informed perspective when planning schedules. It's important to remember that people work at different paces and process information differently sometimes, if it helps to adjust a process or setup a bit to help accommodate someone, that may mean so much to them and will boost morale, productivity, and loyalty. One of the issues I note with larger companies, is the lack of connection between those at the top and those who do the day to day tasks. This is what leads to the strain between folks sitting in an office making decisions about work they've never done and processes that they know very little about if at all, and those who are actively involved and are the heart of the operation. Keep that in mind for growth - don't lose touch with those who do the daily tasks even if you aren't involved all the time anymore. Actively keeping up connection and genuine support will do a lot to help prevent resentment.
    - I am not sure if this topic came up in this video or the previous one I watched last night, I ran out of time to leave a comment here before sleeping lol. But as someone who has a degree in the environmental space, it's actually a really healthy stance to both want to do whatever is possible to go sustainable, while also realizing that none of the current systems we have in fossil fuels will disappear overnight even if social and legislative support was fully on that side. I know things are small for you right now, but if you ever get to the point of building your own facility for your business, one of the best things you can do for yourself is invest as much as you can into having the most efficient building possible for your location. Most builders actively cut corners wherever they can get away with and by default do not build up to the highest standards unless requested. If you stay in CA/LA for the long term, it'll be important to have buildings that can survive the increasingly hostile weather that may continue in the future. A super efficient building is more expensive up front, but it will pay off as time goes on in energy savings. Anyway, I'm sure that's all a ways off but it's great to have goals, so maybe still worth keeping an eye on! The most sustainable thing everyone can do now is to do their best with the resources they have and the environment they are in. (And to be aware of the ways in which certain groups are pushing to prevent progress, even if most individuals don't have the power to directly combat that.)
    Sorry for the novel lol!

As a long time viewer of all your channels, they’re all fantastic Bc you are such a big personality. And you’re real and honest. TCG peeps are always going to want to see packs opened and see your collection and know what you’re into. I think there can be a happy medium between the personality and business. Since you’re doing an every other day upload, or trying to do so, maybe 1 vid a week on business to start and see how it goes. Then it can be upped. Also wouldn’t be a bad idea to take a page from PokeRev and every time you release a new MysticRips product to do a video ripping and showing what your selling.

I love how aware and mindful you are of your own mind/body. That is a very healthy state to be in. And awesome to share the downside of your existence as well. Your workethic is admirable. I am sure you are an amazing ‘boss’. I think you should expand your MysticRips channel to include more about the company and have it work for you both ways. Opening packs is fun and will draw viewers, but the business side will draw people too. Maybe some advice video’s for people who want to be more serious in their collecting of cards, or even some video’s about actually playing the card game.

I love seeing the behind the scenes videos. To me, those are just super interesting to see. I love seeing how the business operates and all that (I’m a finance student so that’s probably part of it lol), but I definitely recommend trying to post a few videos featuring the business side of things. Not only will that reach that audience, but it will give you the opportunity to shoot those types of videos. If they don’t end up performing incredibly well and/or they take up too much time that you feel you could value and use somewhere else, then you can evaluate it and see whether it is worth it to keep posting those types of videos or if you should continue with more of the personality piece. Hopefully this helps!👊🏻

I would say trust your gut, and always go for quality first, even if it means leaving money on the table. Like you said, in the long term, a good content strategy is the most valuable part. Nothing wrong with advertising and selling people as long as you provide plenty of upfront Value and content already

This is going to sound like I’m ripping into you but I’m not and tbh, personally I think my comments on Twitter seem to just be ignored.
Not that I know much about management or business (I work in Healthcare as a Biomedical Scientist) but personally I feel like there is just a somewhat dip in enthusiasm in your main channel (M7) which I get when your views go down but I think personally your business side is starting to spill into your main channel which, no offence, the majority of people just don’t care about.
There used to be a time where you used to actually engage with the community, go out there and be with people, talk to people and engage with a community you helped make, that is now just gone and feels somewhat flat or kind of forced at times.
Yes I understand you have a business to maintain but at times, it feels like you’re somewhat disconnected from the player base you put so much time building up.

I 100% think you should show the business side of Mystic Rips, so many people do rips so I think it would add another aspect showing the back end of the business and the products! it may lower your views but if the goals is sales it should increase those sales.

Best thing I think I did was take a 1-2 year break POGO. The game feels fresh again and grinding for Megas and stuff I missed has been great. Certainly a different story when you have an audience built around it though. I think the best advice I have is to reach out to other content creators that have gone through a process like this. I know one I also watch, as another hobby I have is aquariums, is Cory from Aquarium Coop. He seems like he went through the same type of dilemma deciding where to take the business vs what to do for content creation that was getting dry and boring for him. Seemed like having people take over certain tasks and focusing on the things he enjoyed the most worked for him the best. Like most are saying, a lot of us like to just watch you have fun and give us insight into things not all of us can do (Pokémon events, trips, etc). Whatever you choose you will still have the loyal crew I am sure!

hey man, been follow you for a long time, since whitelightingHWD with the clash of clans content even before you shifted to pokemon go. Just want to say proud of you and I've seen the work you've done. About the head space thing, I think it's just that you have a lot on your plate, and you are juggling so many things with the business, youtube, and social media. If theres one thing i would recommend, take some time, meditation for a little, because it helps with eliminating distractions and also helps you wth what you really need to do that day. I also feel like you should think about all the small wins, I know you have bigger goals and bigger plans and also you are looking at long term achievement. The small wins like successful stream, getting the to do list done, or hitting the gym. those are all small wins that deserve to be acknowledged, because everyday is a grind. keep making awesome content, but also give yourself some time to relax. recovering it just as important as grinding.

17:32 There are ASMR content hubs where people watch stuff getting cleaned, everything from sweeping, lawnmowers, vacuum cleaners, etc. There's popular ones on Snapchat like Clean freaks, and Squeaky clean.
Maybe you could make a compilation of that mess getting swept up & cleaned, and see how THAT does on different platforms. I know some creators makes stuff JUST for Snapchat now based on older content that they reformatted for vertical aspect ratio video.

I feel you should try and make a hybrid channel. I think having you as the main focus is cool but I loved the episodes you did with Jake building the binders or other things similar to that. Also I have seen other creators sponsor their own videos. That is one way you could bring more of the business into the mystic rips channel with out taking away from you opening pack or some kind of challenges

My personal opinion, Ik you can't do this, but MAKE THIS THE MAIN CHANNEL, Jk, but ngl, I feel like watching these videos brings me back as to when you first started making your videos in the mystic 7 channel. The lofi music, the camera paneling of where you're at and then you also just living and walking. I personally enjoyed that about this video. But keep it going man, prioritize your mental health and all will fall into place. 🖤

I think you've been thinking about this a lot, and you could really use a coach or a mentor. But mostly a coach: someone who helps you crystallize your goals and tells you when to stop overthinking. I imagine having a youtube channel is difficult. Having two personality-based channels is very difficult, and a business on the side... wow, you'll have to show up everwhere. And that must be exhausting.
Where is your growth potential, the zone of near development for you, as a human being? What makes you fire on all cillinders?
What is best for YOU, Brandon, IS what's best for the company.
Also: I am sure that many wouldn't mind if you quit Pogo for a while/forever, have someone else log in for you to save up the special researches (like Trainertips did), and next year, if you decide to come back, you have extra things to be excited about? Burnout is dangerous.

You mentioned you were feeling depressed and run down at the beginning; You also said you went to a fall out boy concert; There’s not a lot of research on this but there are some articles: I go to a lot of concerts/festivals and after these events I get the same side effects you’re mentioning. To me it feels like a serotonin withdrawal. You had a really great day filled with people; Followed by a really mediocre day. It’ll pass. Online they refer to it as post-concert withdrawal.
Definitely hope you don’t stop with the videos. Only been watching your stream for a few months now but I’ve been a Pokémon Go player since the beginning and you approach pokemon with the same experience having not played many of the other games.

I’d say if you can have videos like you do now on the mysticrips channel, in addition to like a weekly or bi-weekly “update” video, going over all the little things and little clips that has made mysticrips fun that week. Also, just have the “sponsor” segment during some mysticrips vids, explaining that mysticrips as a channel is funded by the card opening and collecting community.

Brandon, I think your Rips TH-cam Channel is a good thing and is your main advertising stream. However, I believe that if you wanted to show the behind-the-scenes aspects of building a company it would be great content. Watching people build things from scratch is a great way for others to feel connected to you, your employees, and your company. Maybe it's a new type of video going forward. Keep up[ the good work and take good care of yourself!

IMO, I think the Rips channel by nature implies ripping open packs, but maybe dive a bit into the collection aspect a bit more. I personally haven’t watched the channel so I’m not sure what’s over there, but maybe doing videos where there is a limited budget, to replicate what a person might do throughout a week, leverage the sets that your employee’s enjoy so that it’s not dependent on you and other people can highlight their passions. I think seeing someone be passionate about something they like, big or small, goes a long way nowadays. I wouldn’t stress too much about it, the channel will slowly build it’s identity over time.

Basically the channel is in a phase where they can shift to expand their reach . I think focusing on toys and catering to even younger generations would be the only way to boost your viewers and give yourself even more longevity over time with your impact. For your rant that you gave in the office that their is a reason why to you have employees in the first place and its beyond for them to work for you but that they can give you their insights as for the bsuiness and also give their opinion as what ways can help push the company forward. One thing that I learned from books is this: Your either a risk or risk-adverse person. Even if your worried about the business failing that it's part of the journey, Look at apple for crying out and see what's made then successful is that they hit a point where they almost failed but press forward. Your doing good dude! kepp it up!
