- As a 9 year old boy, this movie, Beat Street released 40 years ago was a major musical and cultural awakening for me. it was the first time I'd been exposed to hip hop! I bought both volumes of the soundtrack and rented the VHS tapes anytime I could...
Anyway, there were a lot of songs and breakbeats not found on the soundtrack, so I did my best to recreate them with some songs on the soundtrack, hoping that I can do the movie and it's fans some justice. I hope you enjoy this gutter-free mix and it finds you all well... peace and blessings!

Thanks, right back atcha! Beat Street was such a a great movie...the thing is that most of the good scenes never made the movie and most of the good music never made the soundtrack -both volumes! I just wanted to do the fans some justice😎
loved it.... way beck in the day I had recorded the whole movie on audio cassette.....had learnt all the script and music... 40 and going strong
Thank you!! Actually, I did too. I loved the movie so much that I recorded the audio from it mostly because there is such good music in Beat Street that's not on either of the soundtrack volumes. Not just that, but there was almost no hip hop in movies at this time, especially on Toronto in the mid 80s!

Hahahaha, caught me slippin'!! I first got Volume 1 and 2 on cassette...I quickly wore them out and had to buy new ones! Beat Street cassettes had a lot of mileage in my house😎
