Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a fighting game made by ArcSys released in 2014 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and has been recently ported to modern consoles. This includes PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch (No Xbox One for some reason though). A lot of people have written the game off as "dead" or that no one plays it, but this is simply untrue, and this video was made to prove those sentiments wrong.

I just bought it on PSN. It was on sale. I haven't played this game since its initial release on PS3. I had so much fun playing this game.

For me this game is fire. I love the animations and Characters design ...despite the Flanderization of characters like Kanji I thought also the story was surprisingly good, and Adachi stole the show. I am still hoping there is an other Arena game, i would like to see how the persona 4 characters are as adults.
I believe one day we will get another Persona fighting game. If it isn't P5, then P6 seems likely.

I never really cared if the game was dead, its still my favorite fighting game to this day. Im not the best player out there but Im one of the few that represent my girl Chie.
While Ive never strived to become a top player, learning in this game has never been more fun. Discovering game mechanics, character matches, and more was super cool.
You made some great points in this video and I agree with a lot of it! I wish more people played the game obviously. Having lobbies and ranked be full would be so good! And a new Arena would be just as good too!
I've really been on the ropes about getting into P4au as I've never really been a huge fan of fighting games and they are notoriously hard to learn but I think this video pushed me over the edge to finally give it a real try,

I can’t wait to get this game. I’ve been really into guilty gear and blazblue since around Christmas time last year. Seeing this game convinced me(along with p3r because it looked amazing) to play p4g and despite not being a fan of turn based combat and I loved it. I never thought I would be a Persona fan but here I am 🤷🏾♂️

Honestly i got p4au
and i loved it, but the launched kinda killed it FOR ME. however it is great to see how the community has kept this game alive. personnaly recently picked up the game because I was feeling the persona itch after finishing p5r and remembered how great the game is even just playing offline.
im planning on jumping into the online scene soon

Im glad i got back into this game last year since its rerelease only to finally see how much ive improved from the PS3 version. Still got room for improvement, but im happy with my current skill level with Chie. Proud of myself. Lets keep the community alive yall! 🤘🏿

As someone who hasn't played a lot, but played a BUNCH of vanilla p4u years ago (and was what got me into getting good at fighting games in the first place), i was wondering if there was any South American communities?
Cuz last time i wanted to play, it was really hard to find matches cuz most people declined, i'm guessing because my connection wasn't the best, which is fair, but it really sucked to wait for hours on a lobby or looking for lobbies just to play 1 game. (Although tbf i wasn't on a p4u discord at the time).

As someone who's been a part of smaller games, for me, once you have to join a discord just to find matches, for all practical purposes, the game is essentially dead as far as I'm concerned. There's just no substitute for being able to chill out, fire up matchmaking, and let the matches come in.
A big problem IMO with fighting games relegated to discord is that unless you're high level, or you're trying to become high level, then there's not much there for you. It makes sense. The discord is naturally going to be populated by people passionate about the game. But, if you're only looking for some low level casual games, you might find a few, but it's not the norm.
That's sadly the state that P4AU is in. I think that's a shame. I like P4AU. I liked it on PS3, and I liked the PC port, but I only have a few hours in a week for games. I don't have the time or energy to try getting high level at fighters anymore. While I love that the community is passionate, that's just never a substitute for a thriving playerbase.
Hey, I appreciate your comment. I like hearing feedback and thoughts from people who don’t agree with what I say or maybe just feel differently. I understand not wanting to fiddle with discord, but tbh unless I’m playing at really weird times like 3 AM (EST mind you) then I can find games fairly often without needing to ping or talk in the discord at all. Being in the discord can make it easier which is why I definitely recommend it, but I do understand not wanting to even worry about it at all, especially if you maybe work late into the night and can’t play earlier in the day.
About what you said for the low level casual games, I think the majority of people who play in the discord are more or less in that same boat. Sure there will be a lot of people who DO wanna get good at the game, but there are more beginners than higher level players by far.
Maybe this comment won’t help you wanna get back into the game, but I do think it’s something to think about. By the way, what fighting games do you like to play?

fighting games that are spinoffs of games that are heavy in the character development department are peak. this is why I love MBTL as well. it just hits different compared to games like guilty gear and blazblue that bake the story into the core game.

I think it's possible that Ultimax comes to Xbox eventually. I just don't know when it would.

Great video ! I have a few questions. Is the game also active in Europe ? Are there european players on your discord server ? And if not is it ok for European players to play with you guys with the current netcode ? (Of course with a wired connection ^^)
The game is active in europe as well ive seen plenty of players there and because of rollback its fine if you play with people from other regions as well

Ultimax 2.0, which is the new version with rollback, isn’t on Xbox unfortunately, so it would probably be pretty difficult to find games
I recently bought it at a discount, I been trying to learn how to play but I barely get any opponents online
There’s a lot of people playing but it can vary when you play. Most people hop in the discord and ask for games and that’s usually a sure fire way to find someone to fight.
And where do you get beginner help?
@@rvegeta There are a bunch of beginner guides for the game from people like JayPhoenix, but you can also check the dustloop website for more info on the game as well. Going back to the discord we also got a bunch of beginner resources in there as well.

The problem is that Atlus has been having a nack for pissing off their community lately especially thanks to the 25th Anniversary which was Abysmal. Unfortunately, Ultimax was writing off thanks to Atlus not only waiting 6 to 8 months to Add rollback, but no Physical release outside of Japan. Also, I bought this again on PC bought refund because it ran like shit and has no crossplay. this is why I'm not excited for a P5 Fighting game
Don't get me wrong The game is still great tons things to do offline and on. The stoty is.....well The Persona Story of Our Times. It's fine if you can put up with the flanderization of some characters.
half of what you said can be directed at arcs, as under night's new game experienced similar problems along with arcs don't seem interested introducing crossplay on their older games

pc over the couple months after launch recieved update after update and how it is now, it moslty runs pretty well
