Sometimes it wouldn't matter if the cop car was marked or not. In a recent case near me, Suspended licence, Unregistered vehicle (just out) and DUI. The triple whammy!

@@slimetruck Yeah, cuz that's the smart thing to do. The tailgater is already so close, let's make sure you cause an accident on purpose.
A lot of tailgaters don't even realize they're doing it. You want to alert them in a safe way, turn on your hazards for a two seconds. If that doesn't work, move out of the way if you can. If that's not an option, increase your following distance from the car in front of you by slowly easing off the throttle. This will give you more time to react to an emergency and make it less likely the tailgater runs into the back of your vehicle.
You brake check and cause an accident, you will be ruled at fault.

They get an "accident" lawyer and try to get enough to live on for a few years, rinse and repeat. Luckily where I live there are a lot of illegals that drive with no papers or insurance, in really nice vehicles. They just give false information and the scammer ends up with nothing but a wrecked car.

Brake checking is beyond stupid. The punishment for brake checking should be mandatory sterilization -- to prevent brake checkers from reproducing. There are already too many morons in the world.
@@jonsturgill8868 I have been rear ended twice, both times by drivers that were not tailgating, one had a brake failure, the other poor reflexes. I know from that experience that you do not want to be rear ended with any force. I suggest just taking your foot off the gas pedal and slowing down gradually. You make your point with a lot less risk of damage to you or your vehicle. In my opinion brake checkers deserve to be rear ended.
@@tankmaker9807 Thank you for your intelligent comment. It's good to know that there are intelligent people out there. I use the same technique that you use: gradually slowing down. Also, I stick my left arm out the window, pointing down toward the ground, and I make a motion with my hand to let the driver know that I want him to back off and stop tailgating. Brake checking is unbelievably stupid and dangerous. It's further evidence that America has become an idiocracy filled with morons.
You made a great point. In all states, you can not just merge over in front of somebody because you put your blinker on. You can only merge when if it is safe to do so. My GF has the opposite problem of NOT putting ON her blinker when she wants to merge but will continually complain because nobody will let her over and nobody is aware she wants to move over

Yeah, but you are also supposed to let cars merge. Too often you see people speeding up to close the gap so the car that wants to merge runs out of room.
It's a lane, not a birthright. Allowing a car to merge will cost you maybe 2 seconds of travel time.

I'm not sure what it's like in the US (or anywhere else) but in Aussieland, if you're merging onto a highway and far ahead of someone, they'll give way to you. There's usually loads of room to speed up and get ready to merge.

That officer was so wrong. Intentionally followed the bikers movements give the biker no out. After the incident the audio picked up the officer saying some eye opening things.

Truckers put up with a lot of shit on the road. Yes it is frustrating to have huge trucks around you but remember these guys drive for a living and deliver all manner of goods everywhere. We all need to respect eachother and focus on driving safe, that is what is best for everyone.

Something I have thought of are that some of these brake checks on clear empty roads are insurance frauds. Claiming that they got hit by the other person
A few years ago I had another driver make it clear they wanted to pass so I let them. On the back of their car was a sign saying they make frequent stops. He kept changing lanes trying to say in front of me. So I slowed down to less then 20 mph. He must have realized I was on to him and there were now plenty of witnesses because our dance was holding up traffic because he suddenly duck into a random business.

I really hope watching this will help my day. I will be pulling my 22 foot equipment trailer in 4 lane traffic. One can always tell the abilities of the drivers in the area from the amount of bumper covers laying in the ditch there. I have researched my route and made sure my trailer has all the lights working. A little prayer is forthcoming.

I get miffed with people who only turn on their turn signals half way through their turns and the ones who stop in middle of right turns or who pull way to the right when making a left turn. When being tail gated I just take my foot off of the gas and slow down. If being break checked I again slow so they are way ahead of me.

Almost every brake check in this video could have been avoided by the hyper-aggressive douchebag in the car behind them not following less than a 10 foot distance, plus the fact that half of them slam on their brakes fully when someone cuts in front of them then proceed to floor it to tailgate them.
Could have also been avoided by, y'know, not maliciously slamming on their brakes at high-speed when they know a car is following in a potentially unsafe manner. If someone's driving dangerously then I'm getting far away from that car as soon as it's safe to do so. You lack basic reasoning if you think "it's my job to teach this dangerous driver some manners... by further endangering them, myself, and everyone around us."

Most of those on the highway are doing it to sue your insurance company for all the emotional damage. Its a scam most of the time. if you are the person behind you will get charged. Its hard to prove that you were break checked. Keep a dash cam on always.

Dashcam should be mandatory imo. But you're much safer with cars that have soft collapsible front-end, especially when you've got morons trying to cause an accident. Your solid steel bumper could survive a serious forward collision but your squishy body won't when there's nothing else to absorb the energy.

if you learn to drive like every other vehicle contains a suicide assassin trying to kill you, you will be just fine. some areas you need more situational awareness than an active combat zone. lot of scary people out there.
Americans are some of the worst drivers in the world, and a lot of that is down to the absolutely idiotic traffic laws and road designs. Four way stops are moronic. Stay in your lane is moronic. Stroad designs are moronic. Turning lanes in the middle of straight roads are moronic. Not having yearly mandatory maintenance/vehicle safety checks is moronic. Police stopping vehicles on the sides of highways in heavy speeding traffic is moronic. The DOT letting manufacturers test their own products for safety is moronic.
Have traffic lights at intersections, or make one road a priority road with all side roads having to yield. Keep semi's and large trucks in the slow lanes. Move out of the fast lane after you passed the slower vehicles. Have safe pedestrian crossings, and don't allow traffic to cross a multi-lane street to turn left. Have mandatory yearly safety checks on all motorized vehicles. Conduct highway traffic stops on side streets, parking lots, or at gas stations. Test product designs for safety before allowing them to be sold or used.
My driving instructor told me to assume everyone else on the road was either drunk or an idiot and to plan accordingly. That advice has saved my life.

This is a new thing surely . Haven’t driven since the nineties due to disability and I don’t ever remember hearing anyone thinking it’s a good idea to slam your breaks on whilst in busy fast traffic. I think I’ll stick to what it’s been called for years, being stupid.

If your in the passing lane , lane on the left ( designated for passing slower traffic) , and you have decide that 10 miles under the posted speed limit or even doing the speed limit you are a narcissist. Just drive the speed limit, it pisses off more people than you can imagine. I do it daily. In my area, I would estimate about 75 percent of people drive at least 5-10 miles over the speed limit.

Video's like this should be part of the Drivers Ed program. Play a game, run the footage and ask them who's at fault. I think if more people learned which way the insurance claims will go they'd do less dumb things. So many people make unsafe lane changes or brake check and think the law will be on their side.

About 30 years ago I was in the USA on I-94 and noticed these two cars messing with each other. At the top of the exit ramp was a stop light onto a 4 land major road. It was summer and my windows were rolled down. One dude was a couple cars in front of me and the other guy was right behind my US Army pickup. The guy behind me gets out with this sawed off pump action shot gun and walked up to the other car and proceeded to, shoot out ALL 4 of his tires and shouted; "Are you still in a hurry A** Hole"... walked back to his car and drove around all of us.... the cops came and oddly it seemed no one could remember the licence plate or car description... told my DOD boas what happened when I got back and he said; ..."good move, at least we're (the Army) aren't involved"...LOL

Break checking a semi should be three years in prison.
People, who brake check, should get their license suspended for a year so they’re forced to take public transportation. When they do get their license back, their insurance should be tripled, even if they didn’t get into an accident. They’re as dangerous as impaired drivers and they should be treated as such.
Most of the country does not have public transportation. They can do what drunk drivers have to do- ride a "liquorcycle" (low powered motor scooter). They're dangerous and there's a good chance of getting killed on those things, but that's what you get for being an a-hole on the road.

@@shadedbro12 This video was discussed at length on a bike crash channel. The police car was trying to get the fool to slow down, turned on his lights and moved to a blocking position. It was the "riders" decision to not yield and instead run into the police car.

I have a dash and rear view cam so if you think you are privileged to entitle yourself to disregard the speed limit and tailgating laws, ill gladly call authorities and press charges instead of brake checking.. I have a possible way to deal with road rage idiots. If caught here is a couple of easy steps starting with losing their license for 6 months, take anger management classes and make them watch road rage videos for a couple of hours and maybe they will see how pathetic they look
Let’s be clear here. There’s just some vehicles you should NEVER play games around and I’d say a fully loaded 18 wheeler ranks pretty high on that list. There may come a time that a truck driver does something to make you angry. However, there is very few scenarios where you can walk away by brake checking a Semi. In fact you may never walk away at all.

For the third one, you have to laugh at those how think that 4 wheel drive means 4 wheel stop. If anything they tend to be bigger, heavier and have a lot more momentum that is not going to stop.
