not only is he teaching us how to teach our kids how to read but also how to deal with our attitude and behavior with the children. man so appreciated!!!!

YES! I am so grateful. I know my attitude has made things worse at times. I want to do this right for my grandson. He is so smart, and capable, he can do this, when he has success he can hardly believe it. If I get my part right, he will soar, beyond me, beyond all expectations. The public school is failing to do their job, demanding he do better, take the responsibility.

I love the fact that you explicitly stated your high expectations for ALL kids. We take away a child’s self-confidence when we don’t give them an opportunity to experience reach goals that they never believed they could do. That’s the natural high of being an educator🤗 Thank you for your ministry👏🏽👏🏽

Mom of 2 here. I moved to away and had no community or family support. So i asked God✝️ to show me. This is what I did for my children with no teaching background. This works! My children are 25 & 29. They soooo thsnked me. Their peers struggle because they missed this. I am now working with disabled children and use this daily with them. Thank you for putting yjis on video. It's so wonderful. This needs to go viral. I would add this only thought: it's OK the parents had help. It takes a community to raise children.

I work with three children about 5 times a week, and it’s not a full classroom of kiddos but they each have different personalities and so I really stress out about how to approach our sessions together. Some days are stellar and some days feel like a step backwards. We usually have an hour, hour and a half long sessions but I have one student that has a shorter attention span and this video just calmed me down and gave me the reset I need.

I teach The Big 6 to small groups (Oral language, phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension). I have been using these techniques you describe for 15 years, with great success.
I love watching the students' literacy learning journeys. Sometimes, I see' light bulb' moments. At other times it's a slow dimmer switch turning on. For some students, I need to provide them with an extension cord for the plug to stay in the socket! My dad was a sparky, can you tell?😂
EVERY child, even those with learning disorders, has the capacity to learn. That capacity is dependant upon my teaching and realistic expectations. However, parent involvement in a child's learning journey is absolutely the most critical aspect of success.
It breaks my heart, as well as makes me angry, how many people have such negative perceptions of teachers, externalising the job and forgetting the important role as teacher in the home.

Thank you so much for this, how i wish i knew sooner. I have a terrible parenting experience with my 9 year old. Now my 3year old is experiencing this bad time as well. I always struggle to get them to do what i want them to do i get mad and end up hitting and yelling and i swear it breaks my hearts to see them so scared of me.. when i come close to them they run for their lives and hide. I really feel bad. I've always wanted to get help with this, I've been praying asking God to help but it just never stops, im so afraid that my kids will believe that i never loved them or cared about their feelings. I really wish to change my behavior and raise them with the warmest love they deserve 😢💔

    • @anabarajas3984

I get you, I've been there lots of times, and unfortunately it's almost always external factors that make me believe I have no patience to deal with these stressful situations. I have notice that the times I have less external affections, I feel more patient and I myself have already practice this tips without noticing I was doing it right, and it worked at the moment I did. Sometimes we just forget that they are little children having their own minds and their own stages. Whenever their struggling with a tantrum or you know, dealing with their own feelings outlaid, forget about the rest of the world and focus on caring only for that one kid who's suffering uncontrollably, getting to their level and offer them a hug will make a difference, a hug one! You sometimes don't even have to say anything, just get on your knees and offer them your physical support. They very much appreciate it and they open up to you by themselves, then we have the chance to start with validating: ''I know this is frustrating/I know you feel sad/or whatever he feels', but...'' move to offer options to solve the situation they're going through. It's always more about ourselves and our opportunity to calm and deal with situations that aren't really that difficult to solve.

@anabarajas3984 Thank you so much for your reply. I need to start practicing these tips.
Sometimes I feel like I'm not good enough to raise them but then again I love them so much I don't want anyone doing anything bad to them or not taking care of them the best way they deserve.
I even thought of taking the older one to the place where they raise children and thought maybe I could claim him back when he's a bit older.. at least in that way he won't be having the only harsh memories of the upbringing and stuff. I swear to God i need help with myself, I need to learn better parenting skills and reduce on frustrations🥺

I don't know why this showed up in my feed as I'm a grandma but it is fascinating. When I went to school, this was accepted method of teaching. Teachers were in charge and therefore made the decisions, students were expected to learn and progress because of the unspoken belief that we were capable. Parents, please learn from this channel. Children feel safe when they know an adult is in charge, even while learning

Thank you for the great info in this video. One small thing..."me" is an objective, not subjective, pronoun. I understand that, "me and you," is ubiquitous these days, even among people who have too much education to justify it. Kids should be exposed to the correct "you and I." They already hear the incorrect, "me and you," all around them. Other than that, I appreciate the new info you provided. I look forward to using it.
