    They sound amazing. For the first time in my life I’m gonna actually say that a drum kit needs a 14. I’m usually
    Ok without one but that 16 is to the floor. 2 up 2 down on that beast and it’s the perfect kit.

    That finish is absolutely gorgeous. Purchased a Tama Star Classic maple kit about 20 years ago. The Tama maple shells produce the perfect tom sound IMO. Mine are a unique sparkle finish as well but not like that. Still have them and have easily stood the test of time... 🤘🏻🍻

    hey a question, the buzz when playing toms (especially tom 1), is it normal? Or is it normal in tama drums? It's that I have a tama drum (much lower range than your drum), and I think I'm getting too complex due to the excessive buzz it has.

    • @ryandecesare9276
      @ryandecesare9276 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The buzz is from the snare caused by the toms frequency being close to that of the snare side. If you want to fix it you can either change your tunings or loosen the tension rods right next to the snares slightly but typically it's fine when everything is played together. So basically yes, it's normal for all drums depending on tuning/ snare tension.

    • @frags4679
      @frags4679 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah man, every drum kit out there (or at least the ones I’ve played) have this issue. It comes down to the snare wires, drum head tightness and many more variables. As a drummer it’s just one of those things you have to accept

    • @dannyboi9552

    • @nielsemilbechnaumann

      Maple is more high-end, thats why they offer all the setups without tom mount. Sadly you have to special order if it is a 20, 12, 14.
      Walnut/Birch does have one kit with a virgin kick... If you want a setup that looks and feels like cheaper drums, then why not buy cheaper drums?

    You are an incredible drummer! But do you realize your drums are made in China? Did you know you can request Starclassics from Japan? A drummer of your caliber should be playing on Japanese-made drums. Only their Star line in crafted in Japan. They will make you a Starclassic built by Japanese craftsmen, but you must request it and they are more expensive than the Chinese-made version.

      This is made in China. Only Star series are made in Japan. Tama moved its production to China more than 10 years ago, as well as ALL other companies, only the flagship series are produced in Japan (Tama Star, Yamaha PHX), USA (Gretsch USA, Ludwig Classic Maple, etc.) or Germany (Sonor SQ1 & SQ2). That's the biggest reason why is now possible to buy new maple drums at an affordable price. For instance, Mapex is a Taiwanese company, and they make outstanding drums

      Robin Robert my kit is also around that price point. I'm guessing yours is an export? Mines a gretsch catalina. Drums dont matter as much as you can make cheap drums sound expensive, however you cant with cymbals. My advice would be invest in cymbals before high end drums. It's a beautiful drum set though. We can all dream!

    Made in China? There’s no way I’m buying anything that expensive made in China. My Starclassic Maple kit took 6 months to arrive...from Japan. The shells even say “hand crafted in Japan” and the label inside has the Japanese persons name who made them. High end instruments should NEVER come from China. Disappointed in Tama for doing that. That’s a beautiful kit btw...

      TAMA moved their Starclassic production to their Chinese factory in about 2009/2010. You can actually still pay a surcharge in order to have the drums assembled by the Japan factory but I think its something like an additional 25% over the normal book price. There is a small video on youtube of the TAMA drums Chinese factory, and the upper management there who run it, are actually guys from the Japanese factory. I have a number of high end TAMA kits and snares, both Japanese made and Chinese made, and let me tell you first hand, there is NO perceivable decrease in quality in the chinese made stuff. TAMA quality control is honestly top notch and the chinese production of the Starclassic and S.L.P range means you can get absolutely awesome quality gear at a more affordable price, because the labour cost saving is passed on to the consumer. I wouldn't be disappointed in TAMA, it's just simple economics. Cheers :-)

      My 2017 Starclassics were made in China and they're flawless. TAMA runs that plant exactly the same way they run the Japan plant, with very strong dedication from employees to build flawless drums! Go watch video from the China TAMA plant and you'll understand. The Chinese have been making drums for FOUR THOUSAND YEARS!! Drums have a powerful spiritual connection for the Chinese! Don't get stuck , and spread a dumbassed falsehood.

      I agree with you here! Just because these drums are made in China versus Japan or even the U.S. for the sake of mention, doesn’t mean a thing! I don’t own a Tama kit but have always admired their drums and own a snare from them! It’s awesome! I think they make some of the best snares/drums in the world! I hopefully will own one of their kits, someday. To finish the point of the conversation here, I owned 4 DW kits. All except the first one (Which the shells on this particular were made by Keller and not DW) had quality issues that were disappointing and I eventually sold even my last kit from them! You want to talk about price. You all know that DW is among the priciest kits on the market and I was appalled at the lack of quality! I bought a Chinese-made, Yamaha, Absolute Maple Hybrid and out-of-the-box, they were ‘heads’ above DW, as far as quality. They sound great, look wonderful, tune up and down nice and set up easily, as well! The bass drum is solid as a rock and dare I say you could step up on it, jump off of it and it would remain unharmed! The DW bass drum in comparison, almost broke in half when I was changing the heads, lost my balance and went to place my hand upon the DW bass drum. It flexed, almost touching both sides! That was the day I decided to sell them! I mean, as you point out here, don’t get caught up in where it’s made, although I would love to see drums of similar quality made here!
