I'm definitely thinking about getting into doing a small 20g aquascape project, I appreciate your information in this review and your planted tanks look great!
Looks great, just ordered one for my 35 gal, I also have new hair grass and am exited to see it grow in a few months time. I hope just one kit will be enough otherwise I’m going the expensive route which I don’t really wanna do haha
@@AquatikGuru it started to happen in the 2nd week, I do clean the diffuser, got it out cleaned it very well and in the next day it was full of that kind of mold again. I'm guessing it has something to do with the yeast getting through somehow like in a normal DIY system where we need a bottle with water.. Otherwise the system is working great... Gonna try adding a bubble counter to simulate that 2nd bottle
sweet! enjoying these updates, im about to order a kit for my 10 gallon pea puffer tank. I think its going to help so much with my repens, anubias, christmas moss and valisneria. again, thanks for keeping the updates! liked and subbed
Thx for the vids. I have the same tank, and was wondering if there's any reason you wouldn't want to hide the diffuser in the pump box in the back? Then you could run the tubing out the back where the power lines come out?
That was definitely a thought that crossed my mind. I even debated running the line right into the filter inlet so the filter would chop up the bubbles. Just never got around to trying it out.
Thank you for sharing, I just bought the Neo C02 DIY kit for my 29 gallon just to get some added growth but what was your experience with the C02 and snails? My beloved mystery snail is in his 10 gallon and I want to move him over to the 29 so he can have more space and be in a community tank with all nano (PEACEFUL) fish but I’m nervous to put him in the tank if there’s C02. He’s way too important to me to risk his health and I’ve read about C02 either killing snails or causing their shell to erode.
Fortunately I only kept nerites and pest snails in my co2 tanks and didn’t have issues with them flourishing. So I firmly believe the co2 wasn’t near as potent as a direct co2 injection system.
@@AquatikGuru Thank you so much for responding 🙏 that is good to know! Yes due to my tank size the amount of C02 going in with the CO2 diy kit I don’t believe it would cause problems for him. I’ve had it in for a week and have already noticed improvements in my rotala, s. repens, and salvinia (which definitely had no issues thriving before either 🙄 lol) so I’ll leave it running for now 👍
@audreycooper4860 my favorite part about this setup is unless it was running low or needing a complete refill it was flawless and caused no issues. Just gave me amazing results and gorgeous tanks with little to no maintenance required after
Incase anyone else sees this: yes…. Maybe. Your plants won’t use co2 at night, and if you leave it running in your tank it can suffocate the fish. Use an air stone at night if you don’t want to remove the diffuser, it will reintroduce oxygen and let the co2 fizzle out. Doesn’t hurt to use a drop checker with one of these either
Didn’t register on a drop checker for me. There was one in the back of the tank next to the filter. Didn’t register day or night. The flex’s offer a lot of surface agitation with the method I was using so none of this information applied to this setup. But I also never had any health issues with the fish, losses of life, etc in many of my setups fortunately. Had great teachers
I personally didn’t need to just due to the flow in my tanks and the fact I was splitting it. But bettas are also surface breathing fish too so it wouldn’t make much difference in my case. So that being said, I would recommend adding an air stone. But then I wonder if it would cause too much of the co2 to be released vs utilized.
This type doesn’t shut off. It runs 24/7. So if you use it, just make sure you have surface aggravation and 10 gallons or more roughly just to dissipate the co2 better. In my 9 gallon fluval flex, the drop checker shows dark green which means I’m sitting at a medium co2 level.
What I'm curious about the DIY kits is they run 24/7, building the CO2 levels to their highest during the night. Isn't that detrimental to the health of the fish to have such high CO2 levels?
Truthfully the levels are not high they’re light if anything. In these 9 gallon tanks during the day according to my drop checker it’s not enough co2. At night it reaches low to mid on the target scale.
Do you think adding less bacteria will reduce the amount of CO2 level....that is suppose with full bio if it's generating 2 bps and with half 1 bps while running 24/7...so we don't have any issues in night with less gallon tanks....
@@AquatikGuru Well then, I don't know why my tank isn't looking as healthy as yours(planted wise)... Yours even looks far brighter than mine. I was even considering getting some waterproof led strip lights and gluing them to the underside of the lid
@@AquatikGuru I have light purple and white on the highest setting. For the substrate, I'm using Tetra Active. Although now I know more I wish I bought stratum cos it looks nicer and gets better results... Nevertheless they are both nutrient enriched substrate so the performance shouldn't be the different between thriving and not thriving and in my opinion speed would be the only effecting variable as quicker releasing of nutrients means faster growth.
Im currently running this set 24/7 in my 5 gallon tank, with constant surface agitation (via filter / spray bar tilted slightly upwards). Dropchecker stays dark green - this means that i get constant medium-level CO2 injection. Works like a charm.
@@AquatikGuru Great video!!! Can i give you a quick tip for using co2-gas like this? Hi, How to stop that white mold that appeares in the ceramic of the diffuser every day?
I never had this concern until my bottles were almost empty I’m assuming it has something to do with simply just cleaning it.

Hair grass loves Co2. If you add potassium the java fern would go nuts. Enjoyed video. Liked
How do you recommend adding potassium?
Like some K2S04?
Love the tanks! By the way, can the bottle be placed under the aquarium inside the stand? Or does it need to sit next to it? Thanks
It can be under, behind, above, below, wherever really. I just chose the middle so I could equalize the hoses
@@AquatikGuru Thank you for the speedy reply. Will be on the lookout for new content!
Thank you!
What black diffuser are you using? I am having an issue getting a diffuser working on a low pressure co2 system.
They’re the Fluval diffusers that come with their co2 kits. Not a fan of them personally. I’d go with the aquario diffusers
Does it hurt anything not being able to shut off just got one and I'm nervous about it

Do you have to run an airdrome along side with it during night since you can’t really turn it off

Just keep on shaking as long as you can then you let it sit for 24 hours
