‘I Giorni’ became one of Steinway Artist Ludovico Einaudi's most-played piano pieces because, in the composer-performer's words, "I was among the first of a new generation to create and to write music that was, let’s say, playable and contemporary. At a certain point, it was difficult to find contemporary repertoire that you could enjoy playing at home. I think the music that I started to create was, in a way, filling the space left open and abandoned by composers."
Ludovico Einaudi trained as a classical composer and pianist before continuing his studies with Luciano Berio, a leading composer of the twentieth-century avant-garde. He ultimately turned away from what seemed a glittering classical career to forge his own musical path, giving him the freedom to reconcile his wide-ranging influences.

Thanks for the insight! I would love to know if there was any inspiration or meaning behind the piece, it really invokes a lot of emotion, I gather 'These Days' it's just a piece for reflection on formative relationships and moments in life. At least that's what it means to me!

Frederick François Chopin, for me, wrote the finest, most exquisite piano music for 2 human hands! Period! Mr Einaudi’s contemporary music of today really does epitomise and run parallel with the music of Frederick, insofar as it’s wonderfully beautiful melodic soulful content! An absolutely divine piece of music this one, just exceptional rubato!👌👌👌👌👌👌

This song is a true masterpiece. To me, it tells the story of two young strangers who bumped into each other, started talking, became friends, fell in love. However, circumstances changed, and one of them had to move away. The relationship became long distance, and although things were okay at first, eventually it grew thin. They decided it was best to move on and focus on their lives independently. Years later, they coincidentally bumped into each other in the same place where they first met. They share the years that passed and of their careers and their own family.

This piece has gained immense popularity due to its contemporary and accessible style. Einaudi, a Steinway Artist, was among the first of a new generation to create music that seamlessly blends classical and modern elements. "I Giorni" evokes a sense of introspection and tranquility, with its delicate melodies and gentle harmonies. The repetitive motifs create a mesmerizing effect, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in its emotional landscape. Whether you're a seasoned pianist or a beginner, playing "I Giorni" offers a chance to connect with the essence of time, memories, and fleeting moments.

    Walking beside me,
    Heaven's own shadow falls.
For they know not the answers
No light to where they are told.
    Did I hear a whisper?
    Did I hear your cry?
    For it pulled me onwards
From the earth facing the skies.
    And in my dreams,
They'll hold me on towards tomorrow,
    Not knowing what,
    Not knowing where I'll go.
    I put my trust,
Into the hand that leads me,
    I follow him,
    Over the lands and sea.
    Dreaming of the days,
When I'll know what to call and,
The days when I'll know a name.
    Dreaming of the days,
When the lights that guided me,
    Become everlasting flames.
    Dreaming of the days,
    Dreaming of the days.
    And in my dreams,
They'll hold me on towards tomorrow,
    Not know what,
    Not knowing where I'll go.
    I put my trust,
Into the hand that leads me.
    I follow him,
    Over the lands and sea.

When the lights that guided me,
