When you think about it, these 4 verses, the way they're delivered, just couldn't go on the same beat, yet they fit in so perfectly. The way both approach to this crazy ass instrumental is mind blowing. First you have JayZ who spits with his usual choppy flow, crazy rhyme patterns, all while still keeping his lyrics emotional to some extent. Then you have Eminem who's straight savage with his lyrics and the rhyme patterns, going off. When you think about it, these 4 verses, the way they're delivered, just couldn't go on the same beat, yet they fit in so perfectly. Two contrasts actually complimenting each other is a rare sighting. Going back to the instrumental...it is sooooo criminally underrated. Imagine how good rappers gotta be to totally outshine this crazy ass instrumental, that should be often mentioned in the conversation of classic beats. So when he raps on this track about that, it hits 5x more than what Eminem's content is saying even though Eminem uses a better flow, better rhyme scheme and has better punchlines. It's entirely up to the listener which verses were better. To me, Jay-z's verses give me goosebumps every time. He paints a vivid picture of memories. Eminem's verses make me smile from lyrical and sonic pleasure. Carefully constructed lines that fit the flow and beat perfectly. Anyone that says one is better than the other is stupid.

Agree 100%. Everything Jay says is impactful and true and speaks for a whole demographic of misunderstood and mistreated people and the way the world views and treats them. Ems verses are technically brilliant but the content boils down to his own personal grudges and waving a middle finger and calling haters hypocrites - Jay conveyed the message of hip hop and Em displayed the best of the technical skills of it.
