Sun Gold is my favorite-a must every tomato planting. I also have the Thornburn Terra Cotta growing now for the first time, can’t wait to try it. Tried the Orange Hat in the fall (I’m in central FL). Only one of six transplant survived and is doing well with another round of fruit popping right now. I planted a few seeds in a pot (rather than doing transplants) in late January and they are doing well so that may be the way to go with the Orange Hats.
Thanks for the info on the Orange Hat! My plants are still only 1 inch tall. Hopefully the transplanting goes smoothly. I think you'll really enjoy the Thorburn Terra Cotta. The color is beautiful and they taste is amazing. Can't wait to try those Sun Gold! I've heard so much about them.
Wow! Can't wait to try them. I've heard nothing but great things. Someone else suggested the Sun Sugar which look to be more crack resistant. I want to try those too.

I grew Green Dr. They are very prolific and taste great. Black of Tula is a favorite and a yearly must grow. It out produced all my other varieties and are similar in flavor to Paul Robeson and Cherokee Purple.
I’m growing four of your choices. I’m looking forward to watching! They are all new to me. So fun! My must grow is Bella Rosa for canning and Tiny Tim for dwarf tomatoes!
I have room for 13 tomato plants with a three year rotation in my garden. Most of which are red and round for canning with a 50/50 heirloom/hybrid ratio. The other 3 are always a dark like a Tula or a Cherokee, a cherry like the Sungold or my new favorite Rosella and something crazy like a Thorburn or a pineapple. Sungolds are amazingly prolific and i mean i can't even come close to eating them all, also the plants have a very unusual smell at least the Sungolds seeds i grow from Parks do. I really like the Tula and Thorburn's as well. I struggle with choosing every year there's so many great varieties! Good luck and happy growing!!

I'm growing the Terra-Cotta tomato for the first time this year; hope it's good and does well. My favorite varieties of Juliet, Tomatoberry and Purple Boy (a hybrid of Cherokee Purple).
Howdy! I'm in Middle TN, Spring Hill/Columbia area. I just looked up the Tomatoberry. Never heard of that one but it looks awesome! They look just like strawberries! The Terra-Cotta is great. I hope you enjoy it. The Aunt Ruby's German Green grows really well in our area if you haven't tried that one yet. Hope you have a great growing season!
Green Doctors is a great one, very sweet; Am trying Evil Olive and Orange Hat this year. Two of the best tasting to me varieties that I grow every year are Cherokee Purple (which I think is a Tennessee tomato and one from Russia called Nochnaya Svecha which is a large fruited yellow and red bicolor with a "wow" taste.

I grew up disliking them until a friend gave me a home grown Cherokee Purple and I was like "what is this?????" haha. Never heard of Nochnaya Svecha but it sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome varieties! I've grown the orange hat tomato for the past two years, very good, sweet flavor and I can never get over how tiny they are! I made a little video on my channel about them as well! I also tried the sungold for the first time last year, loved those! I was actually disappointed when I tasted them at the beginning of the season, but towards the end of the season, they were seriously the sweetest tomato I've ever had. If you're disappointed at first harvest, wait a month or two and they'll sweeten up big time in the heat!

I think they both have a savory element to them, but maybe that is just because salt was added to them.? Am trying some hybrids this summer to try to get more production, and may try to space them 18 or 24 inches if possible. My mom loves the Sungold for its sweetness. They were good mixed with other tomatoes in a sauce and gave it a more tangy taste. Just learned last year cherry tomatoes can make good sauce. Am trying super sweet 100s red cherry tomatoes. Trying Bella Rosa for the first time, a determinate. Roma, and Saucy Lady. Am trying Chet Choice Red, Orange, Green, Pink, Bicolor, and black. The green has not come up yet, and not sure how the Orange is doing. Am trying a Big Beef hybrid. Mom like the Big Beef of years ago. Am trying another new one, an heirloom called Ananas Noir. A green tomato with red blush, also white tomesol, white currant like you are growing. Also Pineapple tomatillo, a ground cherry. They have not come up yet. Do you have any suggestions about ground cherry seeds? Are they slow to come up? Growing lots of peppers and different smaller types of eggplants for mom. Orange Hat is really cute. Grew it in a small pot one winter under lights. Do you eat the crazy cherry strait from the garden, or do you put it in salads? What do they taste like? They look fun!! My Aunt Ruby’s last year turned dark yellow, maybe they were not the right seed. Did yours turn yellow if left on the vine? Thank you. Got a job in October. Am so busy. @@snugglebunny.jmosbrook Hey there! I agree that the Terra Cotta and Brad's Atomic both have a savory flavor, even without the salt! The Barry's Crazy also has a very savory element at the end of the season I noticed. At the beginning of season they're more tangy. Not super sweet but still tasty. That's a great idea to grow more hybrids, I'm growing more this year too! You have a great list of tomatoes for the year. Let me know which one turns out the best for you. I LOVE ground cherries. They are tricky to germinate for sure! My advice it to plant them really shallow, give them a heat mat and be patient! They take a long time to germinate and then are suuuper tiny for a long time. My other suggestion is to over-sow them. Plant like 8 seeds per cell if you need to. That will increase you chances for getting successful plants and you can always thin them out as needed. Sounds like you got some mixed up seed on that Aunt Ruby! Definitely should be green the whole time. That happened to me too a couple years ago. My "red" Solar Flare was yellow. Hate when that happens. Congrats on the new job! I appreciate you being my #1 fan :) :) The support encourages me to keep making videos. They are inconvenient sometimes, haha. So busy with the seedlings, garden, work, health problems, and trying to clean and organize my grandmothers old house with my brothers things, antiques, mom’s things, excess furniture and excess stuff.. but don’t want to throw out much because it may be useful in the coming troubling economic times and new world order that is supposed to come. Evil olive will be a new variety for me also. Im growing them because I've heard they're a good substitute for tomatillos . Don't have a huge garden n didn't want to grow 2 tomatillo plants for sure . good to know thornburn terracotta is a great tomato for that's one of the other new varieties I'll be growing
Good idea! Tomatillo's are great but the plants are HUGE and take up a lot of space. I'm excited to try the Evil Olive. Enjoy the the Thorburn Terra Cotta! I think you'll really like that one.
Definitely add Everglades to your tomato rotation if you have not grown them already. They are a wild nearly currant size and they are so good. Also being wild, they are very sturdy plants. No problems with worms or anything and I pretty much ignored them last year other than the occasional picking. In fact, a few self-sowed this year so I will be enjoying the next generation in a few weeks. 😁
My first year for Sungold also. I hear they crack easy so I am going to mulch a lot. Barry's is one I am growing again also. Can't go wrong with that one and will always have it in my garden. I'm trying Matt's wild cherry this year for my small tomato variety but I think I am going to try Everglades next year. Also growing a ground cherry this year inspired by your previous video on it. :)

@@inchwormgardens The ground cherry plant is in full production and we are getting handfuls of them. Producing a large amount on the 2 plants I have and we love them. Sweet and fruity taste. These will be a favorite in my garden from now on. Thank you again for the recommendation my friend. Not sure if you have heard of "Inca berries" or tried them yet but I hear they are very close to a ground cherry but a larger, sweeter version that grows more upright instead of along the ground. Going to try them next year as well.
I started a 50 cell tomato flat last year and the prairie fire went 0/15 on germination while everything else did fine. I’ll have to try that one again. Pink brandywine and black cherry are my staples. If I could only grow 2 varieties for the rest of my life, those are my 2. Black Sea Man is an underrated determinate variety. It’s been very early, productive, and and tastes fantastic.
Hey there! Man, that's a bummer about the 0% germination. Maybe it was a bad batch or something? Very strange. I've got to try the Black Cherry. I'm sure I would love that one. Black Sea Man looks good too. I love those dark tomatoes. I think I've had the Pink Brandywine. Very delicious. I haven't grown it myself so that's one to add to the list. Thank you!
I’ve grown all of those with the exception of the ‘orange’ one from MI gardener. Was it good the 2nd time you grew it? Is it sweet like he said it is? I have mixed feeling about some of his stuff. But most of your picks are really solid good tomatoes. Some are even great. But I’ll never understand the hype behind Barry’s Crazy Cherry. Mine were completely flavorless! And I didn’t love the white currants but I did wind up mixing them in with salads and other stuff.
The Orange Roussoullini was about the same the second year. Didn't live up to the hype... Barry's Crazy is cool mainly because how it grows. Crazy amount of flowers. But you're right, the flavor isn't spectacular.
Hey man, keep us updated on the Evil Olive Tomato, please. I ordered a pack from Baker Creek and I not had any luck with them. I’ve tried with about 10 seeds, each one germinated and then died within a week. I would assume it’s my fault, but I’m not having that issue with any other tomatoes.
Bummer those kept failing for you. So weird! I'm keeping extra close attention on mine now, haha. I will do a review on those for sure! (assuming I grow them successfully 😅)
No must grows, as this is my first year with a garden but on a whim I picked up some juanne flamme orange tomatoes and received a Florida State University bred Dwarf micro petite pack for free. Tried either? I'm excited to try them. I also got aunt molly's ground cherries; sort of a tomato.. haha

I plan on keeping one in a southern window/under LED indoors year-round (if possible) and goji berry, if it ever germinates... haha
@@CL-ty6wp Awesome!! Tomatillo's are another "husk" type fruit that are worth growing. A fresh tomatillo is sweet and tart. Just like a green apple. I always assumed they were more savory until I grew my own. It's fun to learn about new plants and fruits and growing them yourself is the best way to learn!

I don’t use grow lights I grow my plants outside how do you get over 100 tomato plants under grow light it would cost too much money and I don’t like hardening off tomato plants I’m growing yellow pear tomatoes I would recommend growing them next year I’m growing more varieties yellow pear is one of them
That's very smart to start them outside. I certainly couldn't fit 100 tomatoes in my small seed starting space! Plants started outside seem to be stronger from the start too. I will have to try those pear tomatoes!

I grow a variety of tomatoes each year and ask people to do taste tests. This year our most popular are Big Rainbow (slicer) and Rosella (cherry).

Not sure if you have heard of "Inca berries" or tried them yet but I hear they are very close to a ground cherry but a larger, sweeter version that grows more upright instead of along the ground. Going to try them next year as well.

I started a 50 cell tomato flat last year and the prairie fire went 0/15 on germination while everything else did fine. I’ll have to try that one again.
Pink brandywine and black cherry are my staples. If I could only grow 2 varieties for the rest of my life, those are my 2. Black Sea Man is an underrated determinate variety. It’s been very early, productive, and and tastes fantastic.
Hey there! Man, that's a bummer about the 0% germination. Maybe it was a bad batch or something? Very strange. I've got to try the Black Cherry. I'm sure I would love that one. Black Sea Man looks good too. I love those dark tomatoes. I think I've had the Pink Brandywine. Very delicious. I haven't grown it myself so that's one to add to the list. Thank you!

I’ve grown all of those with the exception of the ‘orange’ one from MI gardener. Was it good the 2nd time you grew it? Is it sweet like he said it is? I have mixed feeling about some of his stuff. But most of your picks are really solid good tomatoes. Some are even great. But I’ll never understand the hype behind Barry’s Crazy Cherry. Mine were completely flavorless! And I didn’t love the white currants but I did wind up mixing them in with salads and other stuff.
The Orange Roussoullini was about the same the second year. Didn't live up to the hype... Barry's Crazy is cool mainly because how it grows. Crazy amount of flowers. But you're right, the flavor isn't spectacular.
Hey man, keep us updated on the Evil Olive Tomato, please. I ordered a pack from Baker Creek and I not had any luck with them. I’ve tried with about 10 seeds, each one germinated and then died within a week. I would assume it’s my fault, but I’m not having that issue with any other tomatoes.
Bummer those kept failing for you. So weird! I'm keeping extra close attention on mine now, haha. I will do a review on those for sure! (assuming I grow them successfully 😅)
I grew Evil Olive last year. Its good for salsa but I didn't like it right off the vine.

No must grows, as this is my first year with a garden but on a whim I picked up some juanne flamme orange tomatoes and received a Florida State University bred Dwarf micro petite pack for free.

@@inchwormgardens Glad to hear the ground cherries are worth growing. They were the first thing I ordered this year because I had never seen a fruit in a husk like that before.
I plan on keeping one in a southern window/under LED indoors year-round (if possible) and goji berry, if it ever germinates... haha
@@CL-ty6wp Awesome!! Tomatillo's are another "husk" type fruit that are worth growing. A fresh tomatillo is sweet and tart. Just like a green apple. I always assumed they were more savory until I grew my own. It's fun to learn about new plants and fruits and growing them yourself is the best way to learn!

I don’t use grow lights I grow my plants outside how do you get over 100 tomato plants under grow light it would cost too much money and I don’t like hardening off tomato plants I’m growing yellow pear tomatoes I would recommend growing them next year I’m growing more varieties yellow pear is one of them
That's very smart to start them outside. I certainly couldn't fit 100 tomatoes in my small seed starting space! Plants started outside seem to be stronger from the start too. I will have to try those pear tomatoes!

@@inchwormgardens I'm growing Kellogg's this year. Have never eaten it nor grown it before. It seems to be outpacing the other 5 tomato plants so far. Nothing ripe yet, though. I hope it's as good as people have recommended it to be. Good luck with yours.
