Well that was the most in depth explanation of the Skill system I've ever seen....Kudos to you! Now I actually know what drives the awareness skill :-)
This video not only explained what the dammed skills are about but also what the do and how leveling improves it! Devs need to put in a better tutorial for new players, at the moment it's a steep learning curve. Thanks for the video, you saved me sooooo much time!
Is all of this still relevant? Lots of work went into this video, so I would be grateful to know if all of the information you laid out here is still in game mechanics. I gave you a sub for the style and in depth information you gave here. You have a talent for getting to the point and showing side by side comparisons. One of the better stat videos I have found on the internet, if not the best one.
I just downloaded Scum again after a long longggg break. This was awesome. Well deserving of a sub and like. Kind of makes me want to get back in to making videos again. Great work.
Thanks for the support bro! Glad your back being a SCUMbag haha Do it man! I really enjoy making videos for you guys and I'm sure you can make some great stuff too!
Thank You for your diligence you are a god send. I am new to scum and could not figure out how skills worked or what all they did. Really appreciate this video.
Really nice video, thanks. The thievery part is not complete: if you have higher thievery, the sweet spot for opening locks is bigger. If you want to pick gold locks, this is a crucial info.
That’s actually not the case though. The higher the lock the smaller the window is to lockpick. Having a higher skill doesn’t make the sweet spot bigger.
@@LoafLord I'd like to see some testing on that. Yes, the higher the lock the smaller the sweet spot, but I think the sweet spot is still bigger with higher skills, no? I could totally be wrong. Another thing to potentially test is whether a higher thievery allows you longer before any given lockpick will break during use. As in, when the LP is being used you can keep it under pressure for longer if you have higher skill perhaps?
Put your initial points into late skills like sniping, handguns, rifles, demolition and the like. Put zero into survival, engineering, melee, bows etc. You can earn about 600 fame in about 4-5 hours (1 day max) by just building a small base and stocking up on standard stuff.
This is ur legit advice? You put your skills into skills, that actually are the hardest to skill up. Skilling up rifles and sniping is easy as fuck, it just requires shooting hence u never skill this up. U can get 600 fame in 10 fucking minutes skilling rifles / sniping and handguns from 0 to medium.
@@nizahe2731 I'm with you.. As someone who got the game day one with 4k+ hours in game. Put your skills into HARD tedious stuff. STR = Max Melee Then Boxing. CON = Max Running then Endurance. Dex = Max Driving, then whatever. INT = Max Engineering.
that's for this review, very in-depth on understanding skills myself and wife are looking forward to getting back into this game with more focus, thanks for this video
Great job man! Keep testing awareness, camouflage and stealth. IMO they are most important and also could be most bugged. Have fun see you on the Island!
In case it wasn't said; shooting mechs also levels up your skills for that weapon style and building traps (barbed floor/spiked fence/flare trap and so on) also levels up your demolitions.
You should talk about the fastest ways to level each skill. -Demolition: craft Nail Traps (you can spam them in the same place now). -Engineering: make a chest blueprint and fill with planks, destroy blueprint and repeat. -Rifle, Handgun, Sniper: shoot at the mech from a safe spot, it's aim is worse the further away you are. -Survival: take out Nail/Bolt/Bobby Pin, craft Lockpick, cut trees/logs/sticks, craft bark rope, cut rags, craft improv. rope
for engineering: 1. go into the forest with a hiking backpack (gas canister inside) and a chainsaw on your back. 2. cut trees into logs, cut logs into planks on a bigger area. 3. place blueprints of wardrobes (basic skill) or storage shelf (medium skill) between the planks and fill with planks, destroy, repeat until there are no more planks. 4. move to another area and repeat from 2.
For the Endurance; you missed the part where it shows how much stamina you expend per type of activity. At 4 Constitution you can have a high enough Endurance that allows for 'Effortless' activity to regenerate stamina which can equate to jogging without heavy load meaning you can jog everywhere without losing any stamina.
excellent video that will likely be completely obsolete with the next update as they'll change everything. But enjoy it while it's relevant! I use strength as my dump stat to increase Int for high awareness and high engineering. As a result, I've struggled with bows. This video helped me understand that it really isn't worth trying to use bows for a STR < 3. (No, that's not a heart).
Great Video, there are more things to take into account, like how being more fat and strong affects recoil vs thin and strong. But still good video and know you work is recognized 👌👌
thats really good info buti still have few things to "discover"... shotguns - for what skill they can be used? same for crossbow - i noticed that it doesn't increase archery.. bayonets - i thought they should increase melee...but they dont bashing with a weapon affect some stats?
Shotguns are in the rifle skills and that's the same for crossbows. I haven't checked bayonets but I thought it would increase melee but maybe it increase rifles? That'd be rather odd. Different strength skill would be cool if they affect bashing.
As a newcomer to Scum, thank you, a great video... I take it doing skills from each category will increase the corresponding attribute, or is there another mechanic behind it?
Laying down makes endurance heal faster. And constitution is the muscle fibers. The higher the con. Is the faster the muscles twitch making the skinny person faster. And more nimble
I‘m not 100% sure but i think survival also has a effect on fishing. Also for everything shooting you can also shoot mechs which is sometimes easier than finding 100 puppets esp for sniping. Good video tho 👍
Doesn’t dex affect running immensely. I’ve seen run speed up to 28.7 km. I think the fat and skinny speed difference is because they must’ve had different dex stats.
Do you know how to keep the percentage green beside the 24hr in the Strengh, Concentration, Dexterity and Intelligence? I still don't know how it works
Can you get every skill in the game to max level all at once? obvs will take some time but as long as you put intelligence to 5 and then work on the rest can it be done? My archery will not go passed basic at the min and im guessing its because my strength is 1,1 at the min but if i get it to 2,0 will it then move passed basic?
My survival is at 100,000 points out of 100,000 points on basic. But for some reason it won't go to advanced It just stuck at 100,000 points and I can't build the rifle rail like I've been wanted to.. And well after it's been at 100,000 I've chopped down an unknown amount of trees and bushes to build doors for my base I have no clue to why I won't get promoted to the advanced rating
Being thinner does not make your hitbox smaller nor making your character big makes your hitbox bigger. This was adressed by devs years ago. I dont know if this was changed, but it was though to make CON worth investing. Otherwise increasing your hitpoints while increasing your size would be inefficient.
When are you going back to scum? Miss your videos and live streams... I haven't seen any other youtuber posting a video with the same quality as yours...
The part about running speed - thin and muscular characters with different constitution shouldn't change the speed of the character, I think you did those tests with different dexterity values. From my tests, only dexterity and running skill affects your basic run speed. Strength and Constitution have no influence. I just tested this again to confirm it. Throwing skill also does make a difference in range and speed.
Well they both had the same constitution of 5 and I believe that a thin character and muscular characters have different dexterity so I believe you are right. Throwing might be similar to the handguns I tested and not show much of a big enough difference to notice
@@LoafLord Accuracry isn't affected so much by throwing skill, so indeed not very noticeable at the range you test in the video. But if you do it at longer ranges, it's pretty clear he throws further and with more speed.
Hi, I reviewed a lot of guides on setting up player characteristics. For example, when you start leveling the demolition skill, the clearance time is 6 seconds. The BCU becomes 10000000 points for leveling this skill, if I pump all 10000000 points, will there be more time for clearing mines or will there be no improvement?
You know I have yet to see anyone completely Max a skill out. It would be cool to have an option to do it in SP so we can test out the differences between Max and advanced.
This is one complex survival game, it’s nice to be able to appreciate the lengths the Devs have gone to. Thx loaf👏👍
