@@Aggrobiscuit i know that... i was just a bit exaggerating ;) i guess i am too happy that this game, after 4 or 5 fives of constantly begging for food, finally popped up on the radar again. for me and all the people i know playing this game, it was not even worth mentioning in the past years. the example with the gunshot sounds was just over the top. what i meant is: food should have been a total project focus long, long, long before motorbikes, the new island, the big city, the radioactive zombies, the new robots, the save zones, the bunker minigames, the trading, etc. i cannot stress it enough: glad it is a focus now!! cheers
So happy for the cooking update. My character is always a food hoard but cooking was a huge hassle with limited options. Kinda funny the stick just appears out of nowhere for the skewer though lol
What I have been finding in regards to the food going bad in fridges is that raw food degrades fairly normally whereas cooked items seem to degrade at a much slower rate. Also, I don't notice a difference between fridges that are on and fridges that are not. I ran generator with pre-fab fridge for as long as I could, including some refills of the generator's gas but it's very hard and costly to keep gen. running 24/7. Today I did not power fridge at all and noticed no difference. IMO if they want fridge to have an actual effect on the food and you need to keep them going then they are going to have to make the generators so they use much less fuel than they currently are so you can keep them going 24/7 if need be. Also, you may be using too much power with the oven and maybe the pre-fab fridge is on as well..so you cant use the power for the small fridge too.
My question is regarding the refrigerators. As the generators continue to burn while running, whether logged in or not. Do the refrigerators instantly not work the minute fuel is exhausted or do the remain cool for a while. I logged in and fueled up my generator before going to work this morning to experiment with food degradation... seems the fridge should remain cool for a while when gas runs out.. some of us have adulting to do in real world.. can't be baby sitting virtual food at all hours.. just wondering..

I've wanted a good cooking system in the game for years now and.... it was worth the wait. They really exceeded my expectations. I am more excited to explore towns, stores, whatnot, to find more ingredients for cooking.
They did a pretty in depth work on the cooking system. I like it. Do you know if it gives the character some bonus, like doubling the XP for skills for a certain time? That would make cooking very interesting.
I don't like the idea needing salt, pepper etc. . At least for easy tasks like cooked meat. Of course could can't make a cake without flour. Putting more optional ingredients should boost the metabolism. Additional, why i can't remember a recipe? Shouldn't be that hard. It at least we should have an option to stack the cooking books in the inventory.
There is a bug with the fridge at the moment. It will show as turned on but everything declines pretty quickly while inside. However this isn’t always the case (tested 5 separate times) 2 of the fridges worked properly it seemed while the other 3 didn’t work at all
Seems like a cool addition and what not. I've been running military base loot runs and I get food more than anything, not many guns or attachments. Got a chest full of food now. Might try out this cooking and hunting stuff once I've built a base and get bored with the rest.
Awesome start to cooking. I dislike the fact you have to have the book on you, personally I would like to see the int and cooking skill be used to allow for the memorisation of books, for example each book would have a difficulty rating, have the int stat govern how many books you can memorise *based on difficulty* , and the cooking skill govern what level of recipe you can make without the book . So a 5 int player would be able to memorise 5 books, and if their cooking skill was advanced they'd be able to memorise up to advanced level books. My reasoning is everyone knows at least a few recipes, even if it's just boiling an egg or making a lasagne. Another option would be to have the recipe commit to memory once you've successfully made it say 10 times. I understand these are harder to code, but maybe as a future feature it would be nice :)
I don't know how relevant this is but if you put a electric stove in to a car it bugs out the car inventory and the car inventory becomes inaccessible until you relog and remove the stove again. It is a known bug still.
What annoys me Big Time right now - you can't take ingredients from storage like a box directly into the recipe (You can take it from your person though). You have to take each ingredient Out of storage (Box) and place it somewhere else like the floor of your person, and Then put it into the cooking pot/pan/oven whatever. I love cooking in this game (going through making Every recipe just for fun lol), but they need to fix the ingredient not being able to come directly from a box.

Cut the pizza by your own would be made it perfect, and then put them in cartons etc. That is end level, aswell animation for Drinks that the drink can be poored out of the cup by running etc
Hey Raykit i think the portable fridge just wasnt receiving enough power The electric Generator can only supply up to 500 energy than if theres another demanding item like the portable one the generator wont power it youll need another power source to power the portable fridge or turn off the stoce pr oven or fridge
You didnt mention that the optional ingredients actually determien the quality of the cooked food and you can remove the cooked food as soon as it turns green😎
I still find it amazing to come back after 5 years of development to still kill the same puppets. cooking is fine and all, but ads nothing to the gameplay loop, you could cook before, you can cook now. just more time consuming and with no reward other than to stay alive to kill the same puppets. i want to like this game so bad, buts its just so meh using so much time getting almost nothing in return.

It's getting interesting how eating cooked food affects accumulated fatigue and this is forcing squads to cook properly and find/grow/buy the ingredients instead of the constant loot loot loot, raid. Making it more of a rounded survival game I think, I for one hope my server keeps accumulated fatigue on for this reason, otherwise there is no real reason to use the new cooking features to the fullest.
prefab refrigerator doesn't work for me, butcher a bear I put some meat in the fridge and some in the chest they both degraded at the same rate "fridge was on, generator was on and in range"
Has there been done a test to make sure generators, portable electric and gas stoves, fridges etc doesn't despawn when left outside of wardrobes/boxes? or do we have to pack it in every time we're done? I'd hate to wake up and my bloody kitchen is gone
The grill disspaear if it is places inside a building base. I think they over complicated the Cooking to be honest, like its cool but I ratther just make the simple things or eat things i loot instead. Pretty much in SCUM all things you do takes times, and I think people dont have energy to do this things in the longer run, due to that it takes time. Another thing the change is the salt, you cannot preserve or salt the meat like you used to now, at least from the the box of salt with 100 charges.. And using generator with gas you would rather have on the car, kinda sucks. So I hope they add the salt preservation again, and some kinda Electrical panel that last longer than that generator at least when its day time.

They are adding useless cooking stuff instead of fixing the god damn game. I cant play with 30 players on the server but at least i can collect 15 ingredients to make a useless pizza and i eat pizza in game so its funny haha So much wasted potential
Really RayKit, you need a fokin recipe book for making a pizza or lasagne or shait like that? :DDD If you really need a cooking book, that has a one recipe, everytime you make food, it's really quite ertarded system.. :D
The real pain in the ass is actually finding all the ingredients before some of them spoil. Not to mention I’ve played hours searching stores, houses etc and have yet to find a pan. Then there’s the fact that you’d have to log in every few hours to refuel your generator. I like the idea of this system, just not a big fan of the implementation at this point.
They need to let us attach a bigger fuel tank to the generator. The big one can only power the large fridge for 5 hours IRL time and 10 hours for the small fridge that's not really going to cut it game play wise 😅
-I don’t know if that is a server setting, I think that my fully fuelled generator only lasted 2 real hours. And it don’t help to log out. This means that you have to be online to refuel every now and then 24/7
I think cooking time should be realtime then i know better when to come back base. So i dont to calculate time everytime 5min game is realtime 1min and so on
I think the system is terrible. Why can't you learn new recipes with increasing skill by cooking? The books should only be a shortcut and not an absolute requirement.

The range of generator is wierd. I hope they work towards so we are actually able to pull the wires where needed etc
Needs lotta tweaks and bugfixes when using more than 1 thing, but the direction is good, finally something worth playing

By the way, you can memorize recipes, but you gotta cook it perfectly (dice stars) first ,and You only memorize the reipe, not the book

I’m sure someone has mentioned it but if you use a cookbook and make a perfect meal, you will remember it without the book. 🤔

Where do you find that portable gastank (the propane tank) i have over 200hrs logged, and have never seen one on multi or single player

Portable stoves, generators and fridges don’t despawn. But, you do have to put pots and pans back in a box.
Can you have a fire, grill and pot. Then make basic tea ? I have these but can’t figure it out

I've found two pans and bought a couple more to fully utilize range..
