Our Mar Det had a fantail shoot back in the 80's (USS Ranger CV-61). Within a few seconds EVERY M-60 machinegun had jammed or otherwise gone down. The Gunny was ENRAGED. That's the maddest I've ever seen a human being, and I would bet money those gunners slept with their "Pigs" for the rest of the cruise. Semper Fi!

No time is wasted when on ship keeping marksmanship skills sharp while underway is like flight hours to a jet pilot more hands on the stick the better you are.

This is totally irresponsible. There is absolutely no backstop, the bullets just go through the target and who knows who they might hit, or whose house?
