Other starch things can be stored for up to 25 years, Wheat in the form of Hardtack, Potatoes in the form of Chuno, Rice, obviously. Can Yams be stored up to that timeframe?

If you want to fry it do you just put the frozen yam into the hot oil?

Yes, you fry the yam from frozen. It is just the same as frying frozen chips.
