Good job and beautiful walnut George! Someday I'll learn to mark the end of the log before slabbing...seems like I always get out of order and have to re-stack.
Man them was some beautiful walnut slabs. Walnut is some beautiful stuff. Hey I don’t know if you know it or not a little advice if you don’t. Put something on them forks before laying that walnut on them. Metal touching them will stain them really black . I had some onetime and it stained the slab so bad and deep it ruined the slab. Great job thanks for sharing….
George, you always talk about how walnut gets darker over time once exposed to air. I would like to see some comparisons of freshly sawn and then aged.
I always love opening up black walnut. Always looks amazing. Nice one.
"Stackered", I like it!👍
Great walnut with those streaks!
Nice slabs! I love the smell when cutting walnut.
@@thehappychiselllc sawing walnut is always fun.
Ooooooo, nice walnut and a nice stash too!
@@andysmith8544 it did make some nice slabs. Got more too.

staining is why you see wooden sawhorses behind me :)
What do you do with all your slabs? Good video
@@doughine7562 thanks. Some I sell some I give to friends, some I use.

@@ronsteenken3192 good idea!
If we could only figure how to beat the pith out of the logs.
@@brucewelty7684 oak pith is the one that always cracks for me.
How thick do you generally make your slabs
@@doughine7562 about 1" thickness per 10"of width so a 30" wide slab would be 3"thick
