Hey Tony. I'm a fairly new subscriber who is also a proud owner of an OS23. I have had mine since 12/19. My first log was a black walnut my brother in law gave me. Took my time with it and very happy with the result. Since then I have milled different hard and soft woods that are available in my area of Central NC. I've been very pleased with the mill. A few things I have learned so far: Feed rate is key to a good cut. Adjust your speed of cut to the sound of the engine. Check all bolts periodically, especially on the saw head. I do this every 5 hours of milling. You would be surprised how many work loose. Shaky saw head if a dead giveaway. Check you log rests often, they tend to get out of square with the bunks with heavy logs turning while milling. I enjoy you channel and love the TYM T264. I've researched every tractor in its class, and no other offers the power or the price point that the T264 has. I also think its the perfect tractor for a mill owner. Plan on purchasing one by the end of the year. Take care.
Don, thank you for your insight on the OS23. I believe me and Loctite will become good friends. The TYM T264 is going to be a great tractor. It can deadlift a log of 2000 lbs to mill height. It will lift 1380 pounds to full height. Again, thank you for the mill info. Tony
Tony's Tractor Adventure question: I know you switched to a hardee brush cutter, but how did you feel about the titan you used in earlier videos? Hard to find a 5 footer in any brand I know lately.
It is hard to find any brand right now. My dear friend is struggling to have Implements to sell. Titan Implements makes a good product in my experience.
We are going to be cutting some White Oak soon. It is kind of odd; White Oak has a yellow tint to it, and Red Oak has a whiter wood. White Oak is based off of the white bark, and Red Oak is based of the the color of the leaves in the fall.
Those are some beautiful boards, I can only imagine the smell while cutting it, there is nothing like freshly cut timber. Those would make beautiful side boards, maybe fill the wrot areas with some colored epoxy resin. Well done 👍🏻
That's some pretty grain there. 🌳 One of those smaller pieces would make a great wall clock. I had one made from a piece of oak, it was nice. Good work guys!
Those short pieces that you cut from where that limb was, you can catch u some big bass out of a lake somewhere and have it mounted on one of those pieces. Pretty stuff.
Stay with it. Hang in there. The school of Hard Knox is one of your best teachers. Rome wasn't built in a day. You'll get there. As long as you're enjoying it. That's what counts. My father was a master carpenter. We had an old fashioned sawmill. My dad taught me a lot.
WOW TONY THAT'S SOME REAL PRETTY STUFF WHAT-CHU GOT PLANED FOR THOSE SLABS??? DO I QUALIFY FOR THE FRIENDS AN FAMILY DISCOUNT??? WHATS IN STORE FOR NEXT WEEK??? ANY MORE T.Y.M.'S BIGGER THAN THAT GOLIATH YOU HAD??? THANX TONY FOR SUCH A KILLER VIDEO SEE YOU ON THE NEXT ONE... STAY COOL AN KEEP PUSHIN ON MY SAWMILLIN BUDDY... PEACE...
The black walnut itself just like a normal Walnut it is delicious however my experience with cracking the black walnut is very difficult a standard Walnut can be cracked with a nutcracker a black walnut requires a much more powerful tool and the reward is a much more delicious Walnut meat
Sorry I missed some of you on the live Chat. I was on my phone and was so slow.
BEAUTIFUL TIMBER, TONY AND TANYA.
Thank you.
I watch Out of the Woods with Nathan a whole lot. You can learn a lot of stuff by watching his channel. Timothy from Yadkinville, N.C.
I talk with Nathan two or three times each week. He answers my sawmill questions, and I answer his tractor question. He is one smart guy.

Tony's Tractor Adventure thanks Tony. I have a heavy duty box blade made by them and it’s a monster!
You sure are coming across some beautiful pieces of wood. The possibilities are endless.
You are so right. We will definitely make something cool out of this.
Nice looking wood that would make a very nice bar counter at your house very nice.
Thank you. So many possible projects.
So cool, I thought you might have been filming in Tennessee. Good to know you're local if I ever need some beautiful cuts for a mantle.

Don't know when I will get back up there. Life is so busy
How do you like the frontier in the market for a mill
So far, it has been sold with good support. I have order upgrades and the cam in quickly.

Sorry, I missed your post. We use a hammer on a Black Walnut.
So what will you do with this wood?
Just cut it up. LOL. Seriously, it takes about a year for slabs to cure. After that we will build furniture for our new house.
