@GGD and @Sweetwater - as someone mentioned in the comments, the GGD products should be licensed to electronic drums of all brands. A solid win for everyone.
I am exactly the guy they’re talking about in this video. A bedroom musician when I started out, guitars and vocals mainly, and I’m now producing my own full-on productions and they actually sound damn good. Companies like GGD have been, and I cannot overstate this, a massive help in making that even possible. I also could not play the drums for shit but now Have progressed to a point where I’m writing and tracking my own drums for my music. It’s so awesome how you can just go out and get yourself a decent E kit and then hook up to GGD and get any drum sound you want convincingly. I’ve now added an instrument to my quiver of things I can play and don’t have the guilt of copy/paste drums in my music. I can’t mic and record an acoustic kit just because of space and noise limitations but I can track through my E-kit and feel better knowing that I actually wrote and played the drums in my stuff. I legit am thankful for guys like Misha and Nollie who have moved the barrier for intro back for musicians to be able to express themselves and create their art when 10 years ago for a lot of us it would’ve been nearly impossible. Cheers fellas
Me too, but from the aspect that I like to make music. I wanna keep my focus on the guitar. Make me a view "better metronomes". If the ideas form a song I have something good for a drummer to make me something great.
The software has had some growing pains. It’s not the most intuitive to use…..however these are absolutely THE BEST drum samples you can get right now. It allows me to get the exact drum sound I have in my head all day 🤣🤣
Yamaha, Roland, etc...Please pay to have their samples pre-loaded on your kits haha, they are so much better than the standard "Metal" or "Punchy" drum presets that come on electronic kits.
@@AudioJanitor I know that you can attatch the units to your computer and run their packs, but it would be so nice to just have them on a kit you're already paying $4k for lol.
I love what they're talking about in terms of the composition first, and then they level up in learning to play it! As a guitarist/singer, this is super common for me, cuz I want the riffs to be dope, but I normally can't sing it and play it at the start. That part takes a lot of work and practice, so I relate to what they're saying.
The way I see it. Writing the music first allows for total creativity and you're not locked in or shackled by the fear of "can I even play that." You're just focused on writing good music and the letting the music tell you where it should go. In my band we were writing a song that we just knew had to go into a tapping section. I'm pretty bad at the technique, but we knew that's where the song wanted to go so we recorded it and eventually I learned how to play it live. If I just went with something I was comfortable with, it would remove the challenge and be a disservice to the music.
@@luxuriousfir Yeah, I remember him, Tesseract like 5 singers ago 🤣 Good times indeed....I wish I hadn't gotten busy with life and stopped posting music on MySpace 😂
GGD needs to support roland brains out of the box. Superior 3 works with e kits so much better that I dont use GGD anymore. really hope they can get that feature soon
Does anyone know if there is a video where Misha talks about the essentials of getting started with a daw? I'm looking for advice on midi controllers sound cards DAC/amp combos monitors some sort of guitar computer interface.
You're on the correct platform. Search the Tubes for your question. Tons of info on here. Also it depends on what DAW you're looking at learning. Also look up Kohlekeller Studio on YT. He has a masterclass that goes through what you're asking. Good luck out there!
Does anyone know how to learn drums from scratch using just GGD, when you don't own a drum kit?? I just bought GGD Modern Fusion during the sale, but I literally have no idea how to play drums or own a drum kit, lol....I have no idea where to even start at this point. 😆
Start by watching tutorials on how to use the software and then trying to replicate drums and popular songs. Simple stuff. Don’t try and recreate prog drums lol. Just find a simple pop/rock song and try to write drums exactly as you hear them. It’ll help a lot. Eventually you can move to more complicated music and writing your own. You can also use premade grooves/fills. You usually have to pay for good ones. But you can study/dissect those and understand/visualize the patterns.
i know the GGD metal kit when i hear it in that intro ahahaha. great products man! crazy affordable as well. integrates very nicely with ekits. i got a td 17kvx last year as i got tired of barely being able to play acoustic due to noise levels and SPECIFICALLY wanted to use GGD exclusively with it via midi because i realllyy dont care for the 'in the box sounds' the module has. their stuff made me have fun playing drums again :)
I remember sitting with Nolly in the merch bit in Glasgow and playing on his pink Daemoness guitar and them talking about Jake's broken finger, on that first LXD tour. Crazy that was over a decade ago.
Well how strange. I’m on day 3 of programming a guitar solo in guitar pro. Slowly bar by bar figuring something out. I can play it, but it’s slightly sloppy, I just want to break out of that improvised jam thing I’ve gotten stuck in and mix it up a bit. Seems to be working so far. Good to know I’m not crazy.
@@chadmarx7718 I've done that. I searched for answers and changed things like assignments but it still didn't work. I have no doubt it can work, I just don't know what settings I have wrong.
I guess you didn’t listen at all? He never said anything like that, he mentioned that computers finally got to the point that it was possible to do all in the box writing by yourself.

I like how Matt is playing an electric kit triggering acoustic drum sounds that he originally recorded.
playing his drums with extra steps
Instructional videos on their own products and thorough explanations on what they can or cant do is one of the things that drew me to GGD. Thx all!

The modern fusion is amazing. Been following misha since the tandjent forum with timdog.
Misha, Matt, Nolly. The greatest gear entrepreneurs of all time.
I love Matt Halpern's P4 Kit. It's insanely good. Sometimes I combine the kick and snare with the Invasion cymbals. So good.
Congrats GGD dudes and congrats Sweetwater.
Great video- Love this!

Once you hear Matts mic you cant unhear it.
do they mention what misha uses for his guitar tones here?
Is the drummer that law and order detective guy?
How remove all the compression from overheads. Too much in the mix for me .

I feel Misha’s anxiety from here goddamn
I bought GGD, but I can't import a midi track into my DAW and use GGD for the drums. It's super frustrating
Just check the midi assignments

It's perfectly possible. I'm used to export from guitar pro and put straight into the drum track
@@Cestariarts It doesn't work for me, and I cannot figure out why. I download a midi file into Reaper, open the GGD VST, and I get no sound
I know people love to hate the compose first then learn process, a decent amount of composers throughout history write stuff they couldn't play.
Modern massive mixed with invasion FTW
Are you sure that’s not Tray Parker from South Park?
cool wish I had money
The ggd stuff is Not expensive at all. All stuff is between 30-70 bucks. Thats real cheap For modern virtual instruments
So many people trying to copy ggd now but ggd is still the best hands down.
The samples are probably one of the best for sure. Navigating through Kontakt totally ruins it for me. Sd3 all the way just saying
People used to do this before there were computers.
It's called reading, writing and composing.
