  • TISH HENLEY KIRK was Elvis' private nurse from 1968 until his death in 1977. Over the years, they formed a very close bond and friendship that Tish holds close to her heart. During her time working as Elvis's nurse, her and her family lived on the grounds of Graceland in a trailer on the property from 1972 until 1983. She often traveled with Elvis on tour and to Vegas to provide care on the road. Tish also provided care to other members of Elvis's family, like Vernon, over the years. Being this close to Elvis, Tish's stories are PRICELESS!
As we sit and visit with Tish at her home in Mississippi, she shares memories of her time with Elvis and looks back on them fondly. She shares funny stories from Graceland, how he was as a person, his generosity, and what it was like being close friends to the King of Rock and Roll. ⚡💗🙏
Tish, we are so grateful we had this time together. Thank you for sharing your memories of Elvis with us, and thank you for opening your home to us! It was a day we will never forget!

I also wanted to call attention to what Tish said about the eternal flame at the gravesite. I never knew anyone say that her and her husband had come up with the idea and designed it and that they helped to pay for it out of their love for Elvis! That is so very special! And a definite new fact that I had not known until now! Wonderful that she said “it was an eternal flame just like her love for Elvis would be eternal”, how wonderfully sweet and sentimental!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I said this on Billy & Jo smiths channel , Elvis helped complete strangers like the wheelchairs he bought a couple of people , and not foe recognition, he just wanted to help , he did make millions, but there is people today that make hundreds of millions, and they wouldn’t give you a yodel if you were lost in the alps , he was a great man it sickens me how people twist stories around about him and they never even met him that’s way I only listen to stories that people like Trish , Billy & Jo and their son Danny , Linda Thompson , and a few others that really new him . there will never be an entertainer any where close to ELVIS .

"Don't you take up for him!". LOL That was priceless! I've seen Tish interviewed in the past and I'm glad I watched this video. So many great stories she has to tell, but that yogurt story was great. I guess Elvis thought the weight was going to come right off no matter how many yogurts he ate. The other thing she said that sticks out in my mind was, "I've never met another one like him". Thanks for a great chat with Tish. I love that she didn't take any guff from him. I think Elvis needed someone like that in his life. I'm glad she came out of the Elvis closet. I could listen to her talk all day. Have a great day, ladies!

Its so sad that there are so few people left that knew him personally and are able to share their memories of this wonderful man. They are the precious ones that keep his memory, talent, music, and love alive for all of us to treasure.. He was truly a blessing to all of us, so much of his story is about a phenomenal talent but even more so a beautiful loving humble soul. I feel like he was blessed in so many way but his fame also took so much of his life away from him. His life was so limited and secluded and that is very sad to imagine how lonely that must have been for him at times. We lost him way too soon and I hope his memory lives on forever. RIP Elvis, you deserve that.

He gained weight because of the way he ate but I do believe and I’m sure Tish would agree. I am an emotional eater. Elvis ate when he was emotional. I don’t know that from experience cause I didn’t know him but the ones close to him say he loved all that fried stuff and mashed potatoes etc.He loved it but it was comfort food for him. Lamar said he talked to him about how fattening his food was. But Elvis said I didn’t think about that.

@@MagnusboiYes! I've been listening to their great stories about their time with Elvis for a couple of years now! Billy knows more about Elvis than anyone, including Pricilla! I truly believe that she's always been jealous of them, mainly Billy, because he spent more time with Elvis than she did! I know it hurts to this day how she turned Lisa against them, when they really loved her, and still do to this day! I admire that they don't talk bad about her, when they would have every right to! That's what Class is, something Pricilla knows nothing about!

    • @sandralybrand9425

@@ThoseElvisGirlsI would Love that! You might have to go to them, because it's harder for them to travel. Especially all that Billy has been through with his knee. He is 80 or 81 now and Jo just a year or 3 younger. They are very young in spirit though, and very good in their memories! I hope Danielle is keeping all the videos( which I'm pretty sure she is) I'd love to see a video with all the clips of their memories of their personal time with Elvis. They deserve to be remembered right alongside of Elvis. Billy was the one constant in his life, his whole life! I'd still like to know how they took Billy out of Elvis will, because he was in the one that Billy saw. It doesn't make sense, especially when Billy was the one he trusted to put the will in a safe place. Even Vernon wasn't trusted with it, so that tells how much Elvis loved and trusted Billy! ❤

Kathy I also saw JFK's grave with the eternal flame when I was in the States in 1971. Very touching. I just love that Elvis has one too, so fitting for our King. I only saw Graceland from the gates in 1971 because of course while Elvis was living there were no guided tours. I am now 75 and too old to fly back to the USA because of health issues, but I would dearly love to visit his grave and just lean over and touch it. Some of my Aussie friends have been there and said how emotional it was to just be there and lightly touch that gravesite, knowing that his body is actually there. I think I would break down and sob my heart out so probably best I don't go there

Just a side note, my brother was a career Army soldier. He worked in Arlington cemetery and had the honor of being in charge of the horse drawn wagon that is used for the caskets of some who are buried there, also he worked as the guard of the tomb of the unknown soldier. He made such a memorable statement one time to me that when he would sometimes be on guard duty there as he would walk out of the gates there he “would sometimes just feel the hair on the back of his neck stand up”. It is a very somber place. I feel like the meditation garden was like that at Graceland, so somber and quiet and so respectful of the Presley family!

Great video! I met Tish a few years ago and she was extremely nice and generous with her time as she told a few stories and shared some of her opinions about various things Elvis with me in a one-on-one conversation. There was an interesting discussion about Elvis's finances in this video. Lots of fans feel Elvis did not pay enough attention to his finances or that Elvis spent irresponsibly or that Vernon handled Elvis's money poorly. Are these statements true about Elvis? When Elvis passed away, he had more than $1.1 million is cash. Once all the bills were paid, his estate was valued at $5 million dollars, which is an extraordinary amount for a man who we can all agree never purposely saved a dime. When you think about it, even after spending untold millions, Elvis had more wealth at the end of his life than most of us will earn, even with nearly 50 years of inflation artificially inflating our numbers, in our lifetimes. Elvis did have cash flow problems especially in the 1970's, but that is a temporary problem we all experience which never meant Elvis was broke. Vernon, a man who never had a savings account before Elvis hit it big, managed to amass and protect Elvis's $5 million in assets through 20+ years of hard work keeping the books for Elvis. Some people criticize the amount of money Elvis left Lisa Marie. Elvis left Lisa two assets of far greater value than $5 million, Vernon and Priscilla, whose hard work resulted in Lisa inheriting $125 million at age 25. Before Elvis employed the Colonel, Elvis was broke, by which I mean he had a little cash in his pocket enabling him to splurge on clothes and gifts and enough to pay the bills, but he had nothing saved as Elvis was unable to collect funds owed to him including $5,000 from Sam Phillips. Once the Colonel was involved, Elvis collected all his big payments up front and weekly payroll from RCA. Over the next 20 years, Elvis, assisted by the work of Colonel and Vernon, never had less than $1 million in his checking account and always had a sizable savings account. Did Elvis need to spend more of his personal time on his finances? No, Elvis still had plenty to spend on the day of his passing. Did Elvis spend irresponsibly? No, Elvis never ran out of money and no one in his family ever suffered due to his spending. Did Vernon handle Elvis's money poorly? No, in fact, Vernon saved Graceland after Elvis was gone purely through his own decisions and actions including moving Elvis and Gladys to Graceland, which is the keystone to the success of Graceland as a global destination today.

So glad I found this as I was surfing TH-cam on a hot summer day in Melbourne Australia, with nothing better to do than sit in airconditioned comfort! Wonderful interview, and thanks for the ebay links to Trish's books. I have the second one but didn't know there was another, so have ordered it. I enjoyed this interview so much, felt very tearful at times listening to Trish's anecdotes about having Elvis hanging around as 'a normal person like your brother'. I've always felt you could get a glimpse of the real man in most of his movies, the expressions on his face, his smile, and voice. He might have been playing a part, but the real personnae shone through sometimes, which is why we his fans felt like we knew the real man underneath, just a bit.
When I saw him on stage and got his attention briefly by yelling "I love you Elvis" when he was on our side of the stage, when he looked at me and smiled, I felt like I'd been blessed, just for those brief seconds.🤩

I too feel like you see a glimpse of the real man in the movies. Sometimes he would roll his eyes in a role and I thought he really is for real. Hahaha Although I think most of his ‘60s movies are fun entertainment (the ‘50s were more serious but still very entertaining!) and he didn’t enjoy making them bc it wasn’t the type of movie or characters he wanted to do, but just like y’all said about how he would be in amazement knowing how his fans still love him at 89, he would be amazed at how much we all still like his movies too! 😊

Look at Dallas Jenkins with The Chosen. I am so interested in what the Linda, Jo Tish daily life was like. Tish and Jo raising children in the 70's at Graceland was like. Elvis' Christian influence on everyone in a daily interaction.

What a man…the more I hear of him, the more I see God using him to take care of his people. The wheelchair story…something so small…but not really. How many people actually stop or notice the wheels are bare. It’s like he was always looking for an opportunity to help others. God put that desire in him. It still breaks my heart though that he felt like he couldn’t find a woman and was lonely. 😢I love that Tish was so honest with her answer lol “the guys pimping for him” 😂 And I love how she took such good care of him. Bless them both 😢

If you google the Dr who was at all 4 of Elvis autopsies & is a world renouned Neurologist. He was the Specialist hired for Dr Nicks trial. He was the leading Neurologist in America for the last 70+ years. He was also the DR used in Howard Hughes trial. DR Forrest Tennant he has a podcast with Dr Nick online covering EVERYONE OF THOSE QUESTIONS. He also has a autopsy finding on Elvis ENTIRE medical records from Birth to death. He was given Elvis' entire files from the military, all his DR's, even childhood cardiologist. He talks openly about the 3 genetic defects fount in 1994 in his tissue. What blows my mind is in a time when DNA, Genetics are exploding NO ONE is telling Elvis' story. Elvis didn't have a huge cocktail of drugs in his system, he didn't die from and overdose. PRISCILLA & LISA have both NEVER seen Elvis autopsy findings. Let that sink in.

    • @kelliintexas3575
      @kelliintexas3575 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

It is a PHENOMENAL BOOK. It's 100% FACT based too. I have a Chronic Pain condition (CRPS/RSD) and my Neurologists gave me a DNA test that tells me exactly how my body breaks down medication as to what should be prescribed to me. It tells you what markers you have if your body can breaks down say like Coedine to convert it into Morphine. Elvis had a CYPD26 and didn't have the genes to convert Coedine, so it built up in his body causing him to develop Cushings disease. Hence why his face and Abdomen were so massively bloated. He was in Renal failure. He suffered a series of Traumatic Brain Injuries throughout his life. The last one being in 1967 and Dr Nick talks about Elvis never being the same after. It caused an Auto Immune Disease ON TOP of his lifelong genetic disorders that by 1974 were rapidly in full effect. If you want to read some WONDERFUL material Dr Forrest Tennant is a WORLD RENOWNED Neurologists who testified in Dr Nick's trial and at Howard Hughes trial on this. He was given Elvis medical records from BIRTH to death and he goes in to GREAT DETAIL. He also is who conducted the second Autopsy in the 1990s. He has a podcast that he had DR Nick on before he died it's on the web. Elvis developed addiction but that's not what killed him. He had MASSIVE HEALTH problems. His addiction was a side effect of self medication because of the pain and illness no one could figure out, his brain injury and the way his Genetics were NOT breaking down medication like it was supposed to.
That said Sally who wrote Destined to Die Yound was on 'Globe trotting with Trey' and talks about the book for 2 hours. Gives a great explanation.
Search : Dr Tennant Elvis Brain Injury
The article is titled- Elvis Presley: Head Trauma, Autoimmunity, Pain, and Early Death
Dr Tennant says: my retrospective review of his autopsy findings, when paired with his medical history of multi-organ abnormalities over a 10-year period, clearly reveals that elvis was suffering from an autoimmune inflammatory disorder.to help support the presence of an autoimmune disease, i found that dr. nick's records revealed, prior to death, that elvis was suffering from a multitude of illnesses brought on from a series of brain injuries.

WOW this just gave me a vivid flashback to a forgotten memory of my youth. My Dad was into all new technology. We had one of the first Polaroid Cameras (was hard to find that instant film early on!). Color TV YAY (That he waited a little bit on, because they were insanely big & expensive at 1st, plus they had me as a remote as a kid lol. But that Sony color TV went right by my bed!). He did get one of the early microwaves. And yes, they were MASSIVE!!!
So the first night Dad & I made an egg custard (my Mom was convinced it would poison real food....she wasn't far off lolol). And just like Tish said, we both stood there watching it the entire time it cooked!!! I hadn't thought of that in decades!!! Great interview about Elvis AND for jogging my memories!
