I am 84. I grew up with having gardens in the backyard along with chickens. It was wonderful. Then I married, no room for a garden, but I planted here and there, moved where there was room and had a garden; divorced...apartment living for some time. Now I am in a retirement home not able to work in the gardens they have. However, the time in the gardens (and libraries) are the happiest I have ever had.
@Donna Libbey - It's wonderful that you are able to hold onto those happy memories of time spent in the gardens. Even just a few pot plants in your room could help bring smiles. We send you much love from South Africa. Justine x

Do whatever is necessary to ensure you move towards your dream. I am 75 . I compromised parts of my dream. I cannot change that... but I now pursue whatever parts are still alive, and will do so for as long as God grants me strength and days. And yes, I even dream new dreams!

Absolutely beautiful. After being in traffic and hospitals (I'm a nurse) today, this was a balm for my soul. The people you film and the lives they live give me such joy and inspiration. I know a farmers life is a lot of hard work, but oh how we long to live so connected to the land. Thank you. Truly nourishing.

It's wonderful to take care of plants, and compost. I've done some guerilla gardening, planting 9 young prune trees in an open space of a forest near my home. During the heat waves of this summer in the Netherlands, I've been watering these prune trees often. Each time I'd done the filling of jerrycans, lifting them up on a rope from the ditch where the water is very low, carrying them to where the prune trees grow roots and water them thoroughly, I felt such deep satisfaction. They're the offspring of my prune tree at home. Even in the scorching heat, of over 30 degrees Celsius, I returned home on my bike whistling. Five of the 9 have survived, and one is doing extremely well, with lots of leaves. This video is truly nurturing and the people in it are wonderful in their unique expression.

This is my life. Most of it spent on my knees in the garden with my fingers in the soil. For me it is a form of worship. I'm sure that to many people it looks as though I am praying. I know so many many people here in America that are in denial. They feel assured that the shops will provide all they need and why should they get their hands dirty. I read an article recently in an American Agricultural journal and it stated that a survey was done in a major American city. They gave assorted packets of vegetable seeds to 200 people and children. Only an average of 7% knew what to do with them. That is frightening and so sad. I love this video out of the many I have watched of yours this one must be one of my many favorites. Thank you guys for all the beautiful beautiful work that you do and the Beautiful Minds and souls that you bring into my life.

We try not to let any negativity get us down even the mean comments or thumbs down.. We on a journey to make films that help to share universal stories about what it means to be human - most people really resonate with the films and find them inspiring - some don't, but we will keep going we hope this is just the beginning - thanks for the support. Best wishes, Michael and Justine
Today I planted, daffodils, snow drops and chrocus with my grandchildren. They were so excited. We have to keep it going show young people and they will follow. Thanks for another great video.
This is such a beautiful episode, love your channel and I believe your message should go out to billions But its sad to see only a handful have only watched so far Hope to see your channel spreads more
@Andromeda Sirius - Thanks for the message and the support. We're working hard to grow our little community. And while we don't get huge views - that's OK with us - we do know that the people who do follow our stories, see great benefit in them. So that inspires us to keep creating. You could help by sharing our films with anyone you think might enjoy them. Keep well, and keep smiling x
Yes it really is exciting to venture out in the garden each day, and notice a potato shoot has appeared, or the tomato plant has grown enough to require another tie to hold it to the stake. The pawpaw tree fruiting requires more patience, and I look up at the green fruit wondering when it will ripen. Its a delightful place to take children, who always seem to discover something more. And then there are stories we can relate to ourselves, our need for nurturance so that we may produce good "fruit". I love this way of passing on lessons of life to my grandchildren. It is natural … and not harmful. Thank you again for a wonderful video GR
@Grace Bennion - How wonderful! I felt like I was right there alongside you, on a guided tour through the garden with you and your grandchildren. I hope that those potato shoots continue to shoot forth, bring joy and delight to you and your grandson. And that the bounty of nature continue to feed your bodies, minds and souls. Big hugs to you xx
“Do the work don’t look for results” that is soooo profound . It would take away ANY expectations , the root of all evil. Well said my friend. I would love to spend time with this gentleman.

This is another video i love. Their stories inspired me lot. How i wish i could do it right now. It happened that im living in the city and i don't have a station to grow up a variety of plants. Now i said to myself , when i have a sufficient time to visit in my lot in the countryside, i am going to plant whatever i want.♥️♥️♥️ Thank you for sharing their story to us👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🇵🇭 🇵🇭🇵🇭 Elgie

@Sofia l lullaby - Thank you for appreciating the beauty in the authentic sharing of each of these stories, for seeing the light, for seeing the value. We are very happy to have you on this journey with us x
What a interesting story it’s just about connection with yourself and nature is the truth about it like you said we should be doing more of that so we can really connect with nature and share with others that is the gift that the universe will give us as a big love for all of us
I am very often mocked at, by my contemporaries or sometimes , even elders as to how I am not like a "normal" 24 year old. I am a health care worker and I grow my vegetables. I am always at the receiving end of lectures on how I should Not waste my time growing things when I can buy from supermarket and that I shouldn't do such "country girl things" and that a 24 year old should be so ambitious that she shouldn't spend her free time , gardening. The mockery used to affect me to a point, but then, the more I started harvesting from my garden, the more I started appreciating what I was doing. I think a lot of people love to say with a smirk and pride :" I am too busy with important work to be like a farmer and spend my precious time on gardening. " .
You, dear Neethu, have found the courage and believe to follow your heart. And for that, we salute you. Keep doing what you feel is right, what you know inside that you need to do. Don't be swayed by the 'advice' of those who are deeply disconnected and caught in the world of materialism and money. You are wise. HUGS. Justine and Michael 💚
I just turned 60 this past December 2021 , looking forward to retirement to the Dominican 🇩🇴 Republic. My mom passed away 18 years ago and she left me her home. We also have some land that I share with my nephews and nieces and my dream is to make an orchard in honor of my brother who passed away to soon from covid19 on 2021. There is enough land to make it really big so I can become self sustainable. I have always love working the land, which I learned from my mom and my grandfather. This video has enlighten my soul. Sending ❤ from NYC
May you create something truly special, to honour those who have passed on. Thank you for allowing this story to touch your heart and bring you an extra dose of inspiration. Hugs. Justine and Michael 💚

I just discovered Patreon and am struck by the beauty and wisdom of people featured in your episodes, the joy with which they meet their lives, their gratitude for simple things. And your production values... the cinematographer's searching eye, the choice musical accompaniment... Wow!
@@ReflectionsofLife You're welcome. I referred to Patreon in my appreciation but meant it for Green Renaissance. Thanks again for your work as a team, and for the world.
I've had you on my subscription list for such a long time, watching a video now and then- i used to watch half a video in a break, but then thought that I had so much to do and that I shouldn't waste my time.. now I am craving nature and planting , so I refound You. I've been binge watching your videos like crazy today and Now, after seeing this and the Slow down one ,I am almost about to cry. This is so beautiful i can't believe how fortunate I am to be able to see such things . Although I am young ( people think that teens need to party and drink all the tine,be lively and all that ) I crave this so bad.. One of my first memories is with my grandma planting carrots and me stealing the produce to "Cook" .. last year we thought about living in an apartment for a while,it would've been easier for my family..we didn't end up doing that. Now,I don't know how i could live like that. All my life I've had a garden. If not a vegetable one,at least a flower one . Being out there, working is the thing that makes me happy. Eating what You produce is 10 times better tasting, just because you worked for it. I so wish people to start normalizing gardening and stuff. It's not "poor" to cultivate your own food..This is how we survived for so many decades and this îs how we'll survive in the future.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us. To find connection with the earth with the soil is so beautiful. When we are not filming we spend a lot of time doing just that - we really can resonate with what you are saying. Best wishes, Justine and Michael

Sometimes I don’t get to reap what I’ve sown (critters like deer eat it before I can harvest), or I forage and reap what God has sown. 🙂 I love foraging for dandelion greens, red clover, and wild rose hips. I’m also thankful for being able to harvest things I have sown and saving seeds. God is good! ❤️
My in laws were farmers and they all dreamt of the time they could sell and retire to town. As they aged the dream grew stronger. When you are over 65, bearable tasks get fewer and fewer. By the time you are in your 70s it's worse. In your 80s it is impossible to maintain much more than a small garden and in your 90s... well, your body is too worn out to accomplish even the smallest of tasks. My in laws sold the farm in their early 70s and were much happier. They moved to town, but did maintain a small garden until their mid-80s, then that too was left to nature. They never regretted selling the farm, but my father-in-law said he did regret growing old. He'd always say this with a chuckle. He needed both hips replaced before he died. He bore many other physical scars of a farmer's life. In the old days, when families were able to stay together, the new generation took over the more strenuous tasks and took care of their elders. Nowadays people go their separate ways and a family farm is a rarity. Elders are left to their own resources. Living alone is contrary to human nature and impossible to sustain in old age. Plants are a poor substitute for family and other people. Real happiness is found in relationships with others.
@John - Absolutely, no doubt that our relationships with others is so very important. If you haven't seen it yet, check out this short film that we shared earlier this year - th-cam.com/video/qCVnWIYUt8o/w-d-xo.html

Thank YOU Sophia, for seeing such value in these stories.

Thank you so much for sharing a bit of your story 💚 hands in the soil, that smell in your nose = Heaven on Earth!

Why would anyone give any of these films a thumbs down? Is it the Faroe Island thing?
We try not to let any negativity get us down even the mean comments or thumbs down.. We on a journey to make films that help to share universal stories about what it means to be human - most people really resonate with the films and find them inspiring - some don't, but we will keep going we hope this is just the beginning - thanks for the support. Best wishes, Michael and Justine

Cheers 🙏😊👍
Love your food. 💕💕💕
It is yummy, yes.💚

Now i said to myself , when i have a sufficient time to visit in my lot in the countryside, i am going to plant whatever i want.♥️♥️♥️ Thank you for sharing their story to us👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🇵🇭 🇵🇭🇵🇭

@Z3r0 Fox - What a beautiful compliment - thank you x
What a interesting story it’s just about connection with yourself and nature is the truth about it like you said we should be doing more of that so we can really connect with nature and share with others that is the gift that the universe will give us as a big love for all of us
Yes, being in nature can have a marvellous effect on us. So healing. Justine and Michael. 💚
@@ReflectionsofLife Thank you guys 😊 wishing you all the best for bringing more of such beautiful content to your viewers.
Truly beautiful way of living, they are clearly living a peaceful and happy life. I'm glad I quit the crazy city life chasing money and climbing the work ladder.
@Life Simplified - And I'm sure it's a decision that you will NEVER regret 💚
I hope I can. 😢💛
This video taught us that our life is full of gratitude. We are lucky to have full reap because we care, love, and work hard in our lives. This is the reward after full of effort to pay with. It is important to keep the mind peaceful and calm without greedy all the time. Always remind me that life is happy because full of gratitude always.

It's not "poor" to cultivate your own food..This is how we survived for so many decades
and this îs how we'll survive in the future.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us.
To find connection with the earth with the soil is so beautiful. When we are not filming we spend a lot of time doing just that - we really can resonate with what you are saying.

Would love to see a new video of Joe. I really appreciated his spirit in the first video you guys made of him, and the clips of him in this video inspired me so much that my life goal isn't just to live a simple life like Joe, but also to meet him one day. Would really enjoy sitting down to build (converse) with him in his garden!
Thank you for these videos. Thank you so much!
@Yahu awoe - Yes, we'd love to film again with Joe too. He has moved to a town quite far away from where we live, so we'll need to make a mission to visit him one day in the near future. We'll keep you posted. Much love to you x
@@ReflectionsofLife - Wow, I would really appreciate that! Thank you for responding and be willing to keep me posted! Here is my email: r.uzzyah@gmail.com
If you do get a chance to film him again, let him know that his words and spirit has found and moved me in a meaningful...Hopefully one day I can tell him that in person!
I thank and appreciate you guys for the work you are doing. I will become a patron!
Absolutely loved this episode, so much meaning in it and truth, but only a few can see it. If anyone is in Barcelona check out all of the amazing urban community gardens. I joined an urban permaculture garden and apart from veggies, we also grow hope for a better future connecting with people closest to you. Our space is a space to enjoy the simple things in life, to share what we have, to learn from each other....
Спасибо!
It's a pleasure. We thank you for watching. Justine and Michael. 💚
Works for me .. for everyone willing
Wow she said “increasingly expensive” and that was back in 2020. Now its just insanely expensive
So true. Yikes!
So true... ❤️
