    Being a layman who hasn't even read through the entirety of the bible let alone even a tiny fraction of Church fathers and saint writings. Which I'd imagine will be 90+% of all would be Christians which occupy this corner of the internet. I'd say that I often find myself falling into that unconscious, braindead trance that you find yourself in when you're watching your favourite sports team whenever I watch those apologetic debates and videos which you're speaking of.
    You can watch enough of those debates and videos and eventually memorise the points and arguments which your favourite apologist makes (just like you can memorise the stats of your favourite sports team) but if thats not being applied to actually becoming a Christian, an ACTUAL Christian, then it's all virtual useless information which you've stored in your mindless automoton head. Its funny because reading even just a tiny fraction of the Church fathers and Saints its clear that the point of becoming a Christian is to NOT be a mindless automoton and realign yourself to God.
    It is like watching sports, you know that it's unproductive, but nonetheless it's entertaining watching Sam Shamoun call random callers dogs and bible perverts.
    The apologetic corner of the internet can be a huge detriment to ones attempting at becoming a Christian for that reason. For the average layman (myself included) I'd say it's best avoided for the most part... Other than Jeems channel of course.

      That's exactly what happened to me. I invested so much of my time in the first few years of being a Christian to watching mindless apologetic content.
      My thinking was that "if I can show the flaws in other people's worldview they'll somehow become Christian" which is absurd. I seldom read the Bible or prayed, and it got to the point where "defending" the faith (or an abstract interpretation of the faith) was more important than having a relationship to God. My love for proving them wrong led me down a spiral of not attending church and eventually abandoning Christianity, exploring alternatives like drug use and 4chan conspiracy theories to explain the world.
      Praise be to God I've returned to church and am trying to reconnect with the divine through bible reading and prayer.

    Good video. As Saint Paul says (1 Corinthians:1-8), "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away."

    Good video Jeem. The online apologetic scene has become incredibly uncharitable and toxic. The Christian Prince content can really be frustrating because of how he ridicules the muslims who call in, failing to recognize that they will obviously be defensive when you take apart the beliefs they build their life around. These things need to be done charitably.
    However for me, I think the opposite has occurred, as my faith was largely derived from desiring comfort and meaning in an imperfect and fallen world. Consequently, I can't seem to defend my faith intellectually, and at times I don't even know why I believe. I am sort of like the seed that falls in rocky soil, which has no root to keep it firm when tribulation comes around. What is your recommendation in this opposite situation? I am far too scared to engage with any material which may challenge my faith, but how else can I expect to defend my beliefs? I hope to ask a priest about this but I will likely be unable to do so for at least a year.

    • @annalynn9325
      @annalynn9325 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Why do you need to defend your faith? I have my whole family of origin being atheists or new agers, I don’t defend my faith. I have many friends who are protestants and don’t approve of my being Orthodox, but I don’t defend my faith. I could, actually, I have those skills. But I don’t see the point. In my opinion, the only time someone might change their mind, is if they are already seeking. For me I found the best way to build my own faith was to read scripture with other Christians. God bless 💕

The problem is I feel I cannot adequately answer those questions or defend why I believe. It obviously does me no good if my faith is driven by a desire for meaning and comfort alone, it has no objective foundation preventing me from falling away. I just can't pinpoint any particular reason, be it in scripture or history, as to why I believe.

You do not have to earn His love, He already loves you. You love him back by keeping his commandments. Ask Jesus to increase your faith (Mark 9:24) 💕
