- I talk about the latest alleged news of Nukeproof, Vitus, WiggleCRC, etc not being saved/ going bust, and the grim future rumor of Fraser Group owning the Intellectual Property of the brands.
First time back on the bike for 3 weeks due to illness & Holiday. Riding the Nukeproof Reactor at Sherwood Pines. It started off a bit chilly but when the sun came out it was brill - Felt great!!
I love my Nukeproofs. I think even if I was told they'd be in this situation, i would have still bought them. Great bikes, they ride beautifully. I hope they're picked up by someone, or kept as a performance brand by the new owners. Its a name too good to let go to the annals of history.
Fingers crossed anyway, so other people can enjoy the brand as much as I have.
Totally agree - would be a real shame
@@banzaibikes good commentary while you're riding too mate - I barely have the mental capacity to ride and have a passing conversation with my mates. Looked like some fun tracks! I'm laid up with a broken leg at the moment so I've been living life through POV videos 😂
@@AM.94aw dude! Sorry to hear that, hope you have a speedy recovery and thanks for the praise. And I was moaning about 3 weeks due to a cold!!
@@whatdafunkuk haha, I got my cast taken off today, 2 weeks post surgery, and I'm moon booted up now, 4 weeks now until they will start physio so I can walk again due to the ligament damage (read: destruction) I caused 😂
I'll swap your 3 weeks for my potential 10-12 they've said it will be! 😂
Nukeproof and Ragley both, it is sad to see what may be the end of two great badges.
Great bikes, yes I forgot about Ragley, they also have a huge following. Two cult brands with a great rider base.
Aren't Hotlines just the distributor for Ragley? I though that Ragley is independently owned?
@@hambo76 nope owned by Wiggle/CRC
@@PuffinPass Bugger, I owned a Ragley Big Al, loved that bike :)
@@hambo76 I am currently on a Bluepig myself and love it. Was hoping to pick up another frame but they stopped shipping to the US before I could jump on it.
I was buying 99% of mtb spares/upgrades from Crc and loved it. Nukeproof spares were also great value. That all dropped to 0% after Brexit and new website. It’s such a shame. Now (sadly) you buy from UK only if it’s absolutely inevitable
I have a nukeproof myself and just say for the money it is brill spec, just got a vitus e aswell before they shut down but now maybe wishing we shouldn’t of got it as it looks like no one is going to buy the bike brands
Mountain biking definitely does something to the soul… I dunno what It is exactly but I’ve driven for miles to get to a trail centre like Forest of Dean and although it’s an absolute mission with loads of traffic it’s always always worth it because you know exactly how you’re gonna feel when you start peddling! Anyone else agree?
100% always worth it.
FOD is 3 hours for me to drive but always makes me feel better than I was before I went!
@@banzaibikes yes 🙌🏼 💯 worth it 🤘🏾
Defiantly agree I have PTSD and struggle daily, when i go out on my bike i just switch off all im thinking about is which trail am i going to take at this next junction or how can i do this bit better, sadly im mostly a fair weather biker because of health problems, my wife can always tell when i haven been out on the bike for a few days as i start to get really moody.
Doesn't matter what you ride just been out on a bike, im lucky with where i live i can do 21 miles with 99% being off road just a couple of loads to link trails up no bother with traffic.
It’s really too bad for the company and mostly the customers. I have a 2021 Nukeproof Mega 297. Just lost one side of my Horst link pivot bolt last ride. Probably will never be able to find a replacement one.
Bolts and nuts etc can be made
It’s a real shame that they haven’t given all of us owners a regular update on the current situation and there plans for warrenty ext
I have a Nukeproof scout hardtail,i really enjoy riding the bike,it makes me smile, nice twisty trails you are riding,
Great bikes, I also have a scout hardtail.
Thanks, lucky to have these trails nearby.
Me too. You mean we might have classic collectors items? I'm stashing mine.
@jameswilson2815 I been cleaning mine all winter.i might leave it in the garage now!!
Trails look really good looks like a cool pace to ride 👍
V3 Scout owner from the states.. Never getting rid of mine best bike I’ve owned..
Great clear video! What are you using for a camera? Great riding! trails look good!
Thanks!! GoPro Hero 11 black with default settings and 4K60 resolution. Hyperview angle, mostly everything else default I think.
It was a really nice, bright late winter, nearly spring type day so I think that helps with the colours too!
too bad that they are not bank proof...
What I don’t get is this … how can a bike like NUKEPROOF go out of business but Halfords stock the shittest bike on the planet… CARRERA £495 … and they’re still in business? Am I missing something here ? 🤷🏾
It's the parent company that failed.
Not Nukeproof, they are just a casualty of all this along with the other brands caught under the same umbrella, unfortunately.
It's not a reflection of the quality or desirability of any of specific brands
@@hippiebits2071 aha I see but why do they need a “ parent “ company to survive, ? I’m assuming that Nukeproof need the investment to be able to survive? What I meant was why doesn’t another company just take over the Nukeproof side . Halfords sell absolute garbage bikes and they’re still in business , you get my point?
@paulcartwright7228 Yeah, I get your point 💯 but I would imagine a bike brand would be a hard sell to investors right now. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the end.
@@hippiebits2071 aha I see , yeah such a shame 😳 they should just try and find investors like on Dragons Den! NP are established people, as in they know their stuff so they would just need to offer a % of the business to the investors. It’s just mind boggling that they’re struggling with such an amazing range of bikes isn’t it
Mate the thing you're missing is called Greed
I got a digger in the autumn just before the crc fire sale paid way over what they were the next week. Is what it is, no one will warranty components and likely to swerve a claim for frame too. Nukeproof were always a crc in house brand and same as vitus imo.
That’s it, win some lose some and it is what it is. I build my bikes anyway so have warranty on some components/ can fix or upgrade any breaks other than frame… which has broken once but that’s another story and was replaced.
This is why I'm hesitant to buy from unproven brands. I love Nukeproof bikes, and they're a solid company, but there's so many options nowadays, and unless you're buying direct, there's not a huge difference in prices, so I'd just rather go with Santa Cruz, Pivot, Ibis, etc instead.
Yes fair point, and even with the more “main stream” bike shop brands there is a lot of choice…
Specialized, Trek, Giant, GT
Not sure which brand I’d go for next, if Nukeproof aren’t saved. I don’t think it would be one of the above. Plenty of life left in my Reactor and scout anyway, so not a thought for now.
Love my nukeproof reactor, fantastic bike. Great for xc and bike park. Its a real shame.
I wanna try the Ibis Ripley, also Revel have a new Rascal out for 2024 . Gotta be worth a look 👀
I think I echo a lot of people I have spoken to in that how is Nukeproof not viable when they have a great product, great name with riders and from what I can see still sell out many product classes….if with all this you can still go out of business it just blows me away….their business model behind it must have been a nightmare?
I think it’s unfortunately more the fault of the parent company 😔
NukeProof too??? Wtf 😳
That place looks great to ride 👌
It is, it’s only 15 min drive from my house so really lucky. It’s fairy flat as trail center go and definitely not the most exciting in the UK, but convenience and being able to go a few times a week in summer, makes up for that.
so sad I'll never get my yellow scout :(
Frasers took no staff, unless they invest heavily in the brands with resources and expertise, Nukeproof, vitus, Ragley and the other brands associated with crc wiggle are dead. Take care of your current bikes, spares will not be available for much longer.
Looks like Sherwood Pines!?
That’s right 👍
The cycling world went greedy in the pandemic this is just pay back for it.
