How To Analyze Songs In Serato DJ Pro (IMPORTANT DJ INFO!)
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 1 พ.ย. 2022
- Just a quick video teaching you how to analyze your songs in Serato DJ Pro.
Before any DJ gig you go to, you should be sure to make sure all of your music and songs are analyzed and ready to go.
If you don't you might have issues with corrupted music, or at worst, could cause serato to crash.
When you analyze your music in Serato DJ Pro, you will be pulling all of the music data like the BPM and the Key of the song.
Do not ever play a party if you have not analyzed your music first in Serato DJ Pro
Step 1 - download your music
Step 2 - Load music into serato DJ pro
Step 3 - turn controller OFF
Step 4 - hit analyze in the main Serato DJ Pro window
Step 5 - analyze your songs and music
Make sure your music is analyzed in serato 3.0, before any gig. This is something new DJs must make sure to do.
Analyzing your music in Serato should be the very first thing you ever do as a beginner DJ to make sure no issues ever happen live at your dj gigs.

Thanks a lot. You are a legend making it clear that you have to unplug your controller. Super vital information that is!
Helllllllllllll ya bro !!!!
Ya man, such simple things, but unless you know that,
You might never ever figure that out
Respect for watching brother
@TheDJConnect I didn't know hahah everybody has a start date with a new passion and it's a learning curve but that's OK the community is helpful I appreciate you
@@melissamoon5162 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥☝️
Let em know !
But haters are everywhere lol
Thank you
This just saved me so much anxiety lol I was going 1 x 1 lol I don’t mind setting Cue points on the fly, but not knowing the BPM’s was insane.
Hahahahaha
Should always be super easy !
If not, there's something wrong!
I use mixed in key to set cue points
They're almost always wrong but it drops all 8
Normally close enough and just ways to jump thru the trackb
@@TheDJConnect I’m just getting back into DJ’n I have a DDJ-SR I just noticed I can’t backspin properly to transition. What’s a good upgrade I just priced the DDJ-800 seems to be the same but has that toggle for the platter to spin freely. Just asking what’s something good but affordable and comparable sizing wise from what im guess I need to upgrade from. My DDJ-Sr Was the ish when I got it years ago lol
Hey I'm not too sure what is best right now I'm the lower tier
Me personally, I'd never recommend anything lower than an SR
Maybe like a used SX ?
I honestly get almost all of my gear used from people who give up hahaha
Anything that come with serato pro, def nothing lower
I thought u could back spin on the Sr no problem?
Same this was a huge roadblock for me for a second lol
I am new to Serato and this video saved my life. Thank you.
Lol let's gooooo fam no worries
Glad it helped !!
Thanks for the output. Why am I just analyzing 2 instead of 10 or 12 like yours question? Please reply thanks
Hey!
It depends how many cores you have on your processor
Each core analyzes a track at a time
I only have 2 how can I get more thanks keep up the good work
@@darrellbryant2124 you need to get a new computer
I also was the one who had the controller plugged so I couldn't analyze tracks, thank you very much.
Hahahaha no worries man !!!!!
So glad this helped
If you didn't know, you would probably never know !
Missed that detail until I read your comment ❤
@user-er2ym4rp4r ☝️🔥🔥💀
When I analyze it stops at 200 songs and freezes. What could be the issue ?
Your computer
i justbought a 2019 macbook pro im trying to analze file and it wont complete the operation. it keeps stopping at the last song and it freezes.
Sometimes it will show a track or 2
Is everything else done ?
The track might be corrupted
As long as you done have 100+ tracks working you're good to go
Life saver mate, I could not get my mind around why I was loosing my info when I start it up sometimes and I had to manually load each track to get the info back… I feel so silly rn 😂
But for that I’ll leave a like and a follow too
Hahahaha let's gooooo 🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪💪☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️
Ya man
Unless you know,
You'd never know
So many guys told me this saved their lives LMFAO
I'm an OG from the very first serato scratch live
But thank you brother ! 🙏
Just getting atarted on TH-cam
Hopefully will have more goodies for you brother
Liked for the cat 😂
Hahahahhahahahahahaha
Let's go 🤣💀😭
Question for you, I dragged the playlist that I wanted to analyze into the appropriate box. The analysis completed after some time and worked perfectly fine. However, I later closed the Serato app and reopened the program. When I returned, all of the BPM and key data was gone. Is there a way to ensure it saves in the future? Or do I have to reanalyze every time I open the Serato app?
That's super weird man,
I -WAS- having an issue with data being stored when serato stems beta was out, like 3.0 beta,
But as soon as it became official it worked perfect.
Where is the music coming from?
What are the properties on the music? (like read only?)
If you can't write to the file, it wont work,
It will show that beside the track as well, a little icon
thx dude, was wondering why this button was showing up and disappearing instantly on startup of the software.... things that shouldn't be with professional software... :/ glad I came on your channel 👍👍 (thought it was broken at first :P :D)
Hahahaha no worries brother !!!
You made a good choice with serato.
Truly is the best,
But yea there's a few things you gotta know first
Analyzing is suuuuuuuuuuper important !
@@TheDJConnect yes it is, especially with integrating Mixed in Key 10, super useful tool, did cue points, energy level and key tags in a few hours for my whole library (about 2000 songs)... before that I did everything manually, could have saved myself a lot of time, duh 🤦♂🤦♂😅😅😁😁
@@WehrMachtDennSowas yaaaaaaa man !!
Sometimes MIK can fuck up the cues, but I use it too
Rather have 8 fucked up cues than doing 2 myself hahahahaha
@@WehrMachtDennSowas but ya, overall you're set man !!!
You did your homework 🔥🔥💪
@@TheDJConnect true that and with 4/4 type music it rarely messes up, beatgrid analysis in the DJ-software beforehand of course 👌👌 Traktor does a way better job than serato at this BUT.... Traktor this piece of sh*t software deletes all the ID3 Tags on my m4a AAC files, even with "do not write any tags to files" enabled.... so f*ck that program xD overall annoying, everything but traktor and you're good to go xD
I imported songs. Immediately analyze. Then played several songs, set metadata, and cue points. Then re-analyzed and exited Serato. When I open back up… the songs went back to track 1, track 2 etc and I could search for it like normal. Then when I reAnalyze that crate or single song, all the data returns.
Are you on stems beta ?
What are you using ?
Thanks for this video you've just made my life a lot easier.
Got you brother !
I kept wondering why I couldn’t find the button Lmao beginner here, thank you so much
Hahahahahahaha
No worries ☺️🤣🤣🤣
Ya def ONLY when not plugged in 😛
I hit analyze and it still takes time to play stems when I load a track 🤷🏽♂️
Hitting analyze is for BPM and key and stuff
Stems are dropped in the crate
thought i was loosing it,searching for a none existant button.
Sweet
🤣🤣🤣 got you brother
Serato doesn’t let me analyze only certain files I select. For instance if I move songs to the prepare tab or even just highlight songs in a certain library, and then I click analyze, it analyzes the ENTIRE library. Like everything. How do I I only make it analyze what I select?
Delete your library, and than only add the songs you want to analyze.
All music should be analyzed.
Leave it running for a night
Turned off the player and analyzing all the tracks in Serato. Working like a charm. Thanks bruh😉👊
Heccccccck ya brother let's gooooooooooo 🔥🔥🔥🔥💣
bmp x2 is excellent info! thnx
Respect brother !!!
Hope to see you around 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
thanks bro unpluuged my controller lol
Hahahaha
So simple
Yet so hard
What about when I mix a song and the volume is lower than the one playing even when volume and upfaders are equal? Any suggestions? Thanks
Do you have auto gain enabled ? In settings
@@TheDJConnect I will have to look thanks for the info.
No problem
Apart from that might be the quality of the audio files
Auto gain is pretty good, it's not perfect at all, but keeps everything pretty close
What about if it doesn’t want to analyze? I hit the button and nothing after I dowload
If it doesn't analyze after load,
Track is already analyzed
Hey, I am just starting out. I only have Serato DJ Lite and a laptop at this point. My music is stored on a hard drive labeled D. I create a crate for a specific genre. I drag an album into the crate created. However, when I attempt to analyze just that album, it pulls my entire music collection from Drive D. Any idea what I am doing wrong? My plan is to buy a cheap controller to practice, but I want to get things organized first. I have read that it is better to go folder by folder when bringing music into Serato. I appreciate your time.
I'm not sure I understand
The music must be stored in the path to the crate.
So wherever it is in the external,
You would drop the actual file into the crate
Of course, I figure it out right after posting. I guess it happened because I still had the files tab opened when I selected analyze. Anyway, do you have any opinions on a good starting line DJ controller? I was considering the Pioneer DDJ-FLX4.
Ahhh hahahaha no worries at all !
So it's hard to say.
What is your goal ?
If it's only to play around and have fun, sure,
But if you have the budget, get something real.
More attachment to the result,
Serato dj pro is free,
Holds its value as well
What will happen if I analyze music that came form hard disk?I mean the location. Of music or files is in the external usb?
I run ALL of my music off an external hard drive
There shouldn't be any issues at all with analyzing that way.
Once it's analyzed the meta data is stored in the file regardless of where it is
I guess as long as you have write access
@@TheDJConnect sounds good!!thank you so much!
@@mark17zalvaje no worries brother !
If you have an issue leme know
I'm interested to see
But I'm like 99.9999999999999% it doesn't matter in the least
While analyzing songs at about 200 songs in analyze freezes, what could be the issue?
Gotta be something with your computer or hard drive
Have never had a crash during analyze
Even 500000 songs
How do you get yours to analyze like 13 songs at a time? Idk why mine only analyzes like 4 songs at a time
I’m referring to duration 2:56 of your video. Thanks.
Hey it's just dependant on how many cores you have on your computer
I have a super computer lol
What type of laptop is that?
I use my desktop computer
For laptop I use an m1 MacBook pro
Thank you
Nooooo worries !
THANK YOU SO FREAKIN MUCH!!!!!!!! You mean all I had to do was unplug the board.....
😭😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣🤣😭
Ya man
I'm sorry no one ever told you that
But I'm glad you finally found out 😂
Traktor can do both
Do both what ?
@@TheDJConnect analyze and play music
@@bboymac84 Well I would hope all of the softwares do, definitely step 1 before you run a track on any of them
if the track is corrupted, don't matter what software you on, it gonna crash lol
Why is my analyzing taking so long? Can anyone help out in the comments?
Either bad files, or slow computer
Should be very quick process
Even thousands of tracks
I don’t have the option of analyzing audio
Unplug your usb cable
Thank u! Since I switched to DJ Pro, mfa/aac files won’t play
AAC should work I think ?
I don't even know what mfs is tho
Next to a lot of my files is the lighting bolt. I go to iTunes and it’s an AAC file. I set iTunes to convert to mp3. I drag it in and it works. It’s not all aac files.
@@BamMiami well if you got the lightning bolt stay far away hahaha
You might wanna grab like a batch file convertor
I used mp3fileconvert I think it's called
You can just drop everything in and spits it out
@@BamMiami and I would most def be moving away from those file types as well, towards mp3 lol
Is there a way to keep my files analyse vs doing it every time I have a gig ?
You only need to analyse files once
Anytime you load the songs in usually
For some reason it gets messed up again and some songs played louder than some
@@OneDon922 well that would be the songs you have
Are you downloading them off TH-cam or anything ?
You should only be using 320kb music from record pools
@@TheDJConnect yes I do get some songs off TH-cam.. certain songs I can’t find nowhere else
@@OneDon922 ya, so those songs are essentially unplayable
It really just depends what you're doing tho,
If I just need 1 random song for a request, I'll rip it as well,
But it gets deleted right away
It seems like it's been analyzing for 3 and 1/2 hours now is that? When I did it earlier with the same amount of music it didn't take but 20 minutes. The first time I highlighted all the songs then push the button. The second time I highlighted then dragged the botton
You shouldn't ever be re analyzing music once it's done once
@@TheDJConnect so if I add three songs then analyze those songs only?
@@jasonwestbrook3533 when you add a song, and than analyze it, it should be analyzed forever
No way! I am using both rekordbox and serato and it is crazy that you can't analyze while djing
hahaha analyzing is for prep!
Not live at a gig!
Huuuuuuuuuugggggggeeee help…. Good looking out bro…. 💯🎊🍾
Lol got you brother !
This is great tutorial, but the way how Serato works is just awful. What is the purpose of having a streaming service like Tidal for instance if you can't accept request from the crowd. Imagine you get request that the song is one you don't have, the logical solution is to find it in Tidal right? But then you are stuck because you can't analyze the track and see the bpm, the key and mix it in a good way. Ill appreciate if you have an answer to this question.
Lol, the solution is knowing how to mix without needing a key or bpm
Serato is the best program out there,
There's a reason 95% of DJs in the entire world use it
Stability reliability
You should be able to tell a bpm just by listening to it for 10 seconss
@@TheDJConnect Thank you for your time to answer! Ive answered my question during the time i have been writting it Lol :D But i am picky person, at least for me it never sounds great if i mix blindly by hearing nor anyone could convince me that human could be better at analyzing music better than the computer ( ellectronic music especially ) :D At least i got an answer to the question, thank you for your time :)

Men I was doing the same mistake as the guy that wrote to you.😊
LOLOLOL
As simple as it is, if you dont know,
How would you ever know!
Definitely always analyze your music now tho!
Super important step for sure
Sometimes you can't go by the serato beat grid
Nah it's not perfect unfortunately
But I've never had an issue with it
Just can't rely on a beat grid ;)
Well let me say it like this for example take any song with live drums because it's live drums the beat is not consistent like with a drum machine case and point the song respect by the late Aretha Franklin those are live drums so the tempo changes during the song
@@michaelcoleman8203 yea for sure I get that
What does that matter with best grid tho ?
@@TheDJConnect dj who use sync my not know this I had to learn this on my own so like I said I didn't know this because I play those old cuts you have to go threw the whole wave to make sure it's still on beat
@@michaelcoleman8203 ya for sure
I got a video on that
How to go thru and edit the grid
Me myself, auto is good enough for me hahaha
Def not something to rely on
I'll always stress that
It’s weird every time you add a playlist you have to analyze the WHOLE library again sheesh
What you mean ?
Once a songs analyzed it should be good forever
@@TheDJConnect no I mean when I add new sounds or new playlists that’ haven’t been added it makes me analyze the whole library. Or am I doing it wrong
Well it's going to analyze all of the new music
It's well worth it to let it do it's thing
Remove anything that is corrupted
Shouldn't be a long process either
Bro you can simply drag let's say you got Crate 1 Analyzed then you can drag Crate 2 to Analyze files and it'll do the job without needing to analyze the entire library
Why would you not wanna analyze your entire library ?
If you add music to the HD that has analyzed music already and you analize will serato analize the music that's already analized? Sorry if confusing
No, once it's analyzed it's done.
@@TheDJConnect thank you
